Flying into JFK arriving at 4pm on AA. Taking AA (operating as Finnair) to Helsinki at 5:40pm. Do you think we have enough time in between flights? I don't know the gate numbers.

Yes, that should be plenty of time as long as your first flight is on-time.

    Thank you!

I have an international flight from Cinci to Moscow through JFK. Arrive to terminal 4 at JFK and depart from Terminal 1. Your site says I will have to go through security check again. Is 1 hour 25 min enough to switch terminals and go though security check to be on time for my international flight to Moscow? Appreciate your help!

Yes, that should be enough time as long as your flight from Cincinnati is on-time.

    THANK YOU!

  • Exit JFK during transit

I plan to buy a ticket departing from Beijing to Chicago, with transit at JFK. I thought of leaving the airport when I arrive JFK, which means the ticket from JFK to Chicago will not be used. After a few days travelling in New York, I will travel by train from New York to Chicago. Then,I will be boarding at Chicago airport going back in Beijing. Will it affect my Chicago-Beijing flight if i were to ignore the JFK-Chicago flight? All the flights are operated by United Airlines. Thanks :)

Yes, if you ignore the JFK-Chicago flight the rest of your ticket will be cancelled - so you can't do that. Also, United doesn't fly to or from JFK.

You could take the AirTrain or a taxi into the city. It is the city that never sleeps so things will be open at 10 PM when you get there.

I want to book vacation for my mon from Moscow to DR.There is a connection flight through NY. Is she allowed to go outside of the airport if she doesn't have any visas.

If she is a Russian citizen she will not be allowed to FLY on that routing without a US Transit Visa.

My mom will be flying from Dom.Rep. to Spain, making a stop in NY ... (she has all her legal documents to enter the US) will she be able to leave the airport while she waits for her next flight? and she will be able to get her luggage? Thanks

She will have to claim her bags to go through US customs. Yes, once she clears customs she will be outside the secure area and free to go where she wants.

Hi, I am flying into JFK airport terminal 4 with emirates arriving at 8.40pm and then departing the next day at 8.55am with Tame C. A from Terminal 1. I do not wish to leave the airport but am concerned that their will be no amenities available at these hours? Is it possible to get a single pass for an airlines lounge? And am I best to stay in terminal 4 or 1 for the majority of the time?

When you clear US Customs you will be outside security. There are no lounges open overnight. Terminal 4 is the best terminal to spend the night in if you wish to spend the night at the airport.

  • Changing Itineraries after international flight

Good morning, My husband and I will be returning from Manila. Our flight goes Manila to Beijing and Beijing to JFK via Air China then JFK to Charleston, SC via Jet Blue. Because of a change in circumstances, we now would rather fly in to Charlotte and I've found a cheap American Airlines flight that leaves with plenty of time for us to exit the terminal after Customs and re-check in with American. My question is, will we get our checked luggage back after we land in JFK so that we can exit the terminal and get to the domestic departures terminal for American? Will there be anything that prevents us from doing this? I appreciate the help very much!!

Yes, at JFK you will claim your bags to go through US Customs. After that you can rip the tags off your bag and go to Terminal 8 to check your bags with American.

Hi, I have a friend with a 2 hour lay over at T4. Want to know if she would be able to exist (for a short while) to meet with me? Her connection is at the same terminal and airline.

Assuming her first flight is on-time, yes, she should have enough time. If her arrival is international she will actually already be outside security after she clears customs.

hi we will be arriving from Nassau,Bahamas at 11:30 via Jetblue and need to catch Korean Air heading to Korea at 12:50 Will this way to be risky? Also, do we need to check out and go through the customs again?

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Nassau. However, you will have to claim your bags, change terminals, and re-check your bags with Korean. This will be difficult if your JetBlue flight is delayed at all.

  • layover in jfk

Hi, I am reaching jfk at 2040 on monday and I have a flight at LGA on the next morning. Am i allowed to stay inside jfk overnight ? or shoild I consider moving to lga and stay there overnight (if I do not want to take a room ovenight )

Most of the JFK terminals close at night and if your arrival is international then you will be forced out into the lobby after you clear customs. You cannot stay at LGA overnight.

Can I stay in the lobby overnight ?

Yes, you can, but it's not comfortable. There are a few things in the Terminal 4 lobby that are open 24 hours.

so even if I have a connection from LGA the next day, I am legally allowed to stay at jfk overnight and then leave early morning to LGA ???(And ofcourse as you said it is not most comfortable to do this and few options available at night at jfk !!! ) I am a student and I want to minimize my expenses, so thats why . I ll be happy if I am allowed to stay overnight at JFK

Yes, there are lobby areas where you can stay overnight at JFK.

I will be arriving JFK around 8.30am from Dubai in Terminal 4. I will be meeting my friend at 3.30am. I want to have a good sleep after a 24 hours flight. Where could i get a nice place to sleep in the airport preferably in a nice room for at least 5 - 6 solid hours. Thank you

There are no rooms to sleep int he airport. You can either sleep on a bench in public or get a hotel However, most hotels won't allow you to check into a room in the morning.
