Delta flights from SHN to JFK to LAXJun 16, 201320Hey, just wondering when checking in at Shannon will our bags go all the way through to LAX? We have a 3 hour layover in JFK....will we have to check in again for the connecting flight or will it be a case of just going through security again in JFK? The two flights are both with delta airlines and were bought together through KLM, will we have to transfer terminals also? Any information would be really helpful :-)AMCposted on Sat, Jun 15You arrive & depart from Terminal 4 at JFK Airport. As Shannon does not have US customs clearance, on arrival at JFK you need to go through passport check, pick up your bags, go through customs clearance & re-check-in your bags where indicated. Bags will be transferred to your next flight. Proceed to the departures level which opens up to the Concourse level with security checkpoints on either end for Concourses A or B (A & B gates). You have plenty of time.sujun13posted on Sun, Jun 16

Delta Domestic & International FlightsJun 14, 201310I am taking a Delta flight from Boston to JFK. I may have to claim my luggage and then check it in for a Delta/KLM international flight to Amsterdam. What is the easiest and fastest way to do this?Travelerposted on Fri, Jun 14Did you buy your two flights on the same reservation? If not you will not have to claim your baggage and re-check, Delta should transfer it for you. Your flight to Amsterdam will depart from Terminal 4, if you arrive in Terminal 2 from Boston, Delta runs a shuttle bus between the two terminals.ZAPposted on Fri, Jun 14

transit time at 8 pm?Jun 14, 201310Hi, I'm arriving at JFK from Heathrow on American (travel originating Tel Aviv) at 8 pm on a weekday evening w/three kids. Can we make it from there to a Jet Blue flight to Boston at 11 pm? Will we be switching terminals and what does that entail? Will the procedure be: exit plane, collect luggage, clear immigration and customs, go to Jet Blue and recheck luggage, or is there a way to drop off my luggage right after clearing customs? Thanks for your help!Debbieposted on Thu, Jun 13

Terminal 7 to Terminal 4Jun 8, 201330I am flying from IAD to JFK on United, arriving in Terminal 7 at 7:00 pm. On a separate ticket, I am flying standby on KLM to Amsterdam from Terminal 4. I am aiming for the 8:12 pm departure. Do I have time to make that connection? My plan is to have only carry-on luggage.Maxposted on Fri, Jun 7Unless you travel on weekend, 7am is rush hour at airports. Even with only carry-on luggage, you need to (a) take the 'Airline Terminal Train' running on average every 8 mins. to your connecting terminal (next stop T5, T4); then go through security check (which can take up to an hour these days) - not to mention that your incoming flight may be late. T4 has Concourses A & B with corresponding gates; each of which has its own security checkpoint.sajun13posted on Sat, Jun 8He's traveling at 7 PM. However, I still think that's a very risky connection as there's a good chance your inbound flight will be delayed.ZAPposted on Sat, Jun 8

How to go from Terminal 3 to 8Jun 7, 201310I flying from Orlando will land in JFK @ 9:30 and Emirates @ 11:00. How to get to Terminal 3 and will that be enough timeRavposted on Fri, Jun 7Terminal 3 is closed. If you are on Delta, your flight from Orlando will arrive in Terminal 4. Emirates operates from Terminal 4 as well, not Terminal 8. Were your tickets bought on one reservation - if so you can check your bags through and you will have enough time. If not I think it might be tough for you to claim your bags and re-check them with Emirates in enough time.ZAPposted on Fri, Jun 7

Internat Transfer AA Madrid to TorontoJun 7, 201320We are arriving at JFK on AA with 2 hours to board a connecting flight on AA to Toronto. I understand we will have to take our hold luggage through customs. Will we also have to go through passport control and airport security again before going to our Toronto flight? How straight forward is this as we will not actually be entering the States?Wesposted on Fri, Jun 7You will be entering the US just like every other passenger. US Airports don't have special "transfer" wings. As such you will go through full US immigration inspection, then re-check your bags, then go upstairs to go through security for your flight to Toronto.ZAPposted on Fri, Jun 7

connection with 2 small kidsJun 7, 201320I'm flying on Delta from Copenhagen to JFK then on to New Orleans with my 3 year old and 3 month old. I've never been through JFK and am nervous about a few things: 1. whether or not the airline will give me my stroller back at the gate and 2. can someone help me with claiming and rechecking my bags at customs? 3. how difficult is it to get from our arrival terminal to our connecting flight? Is it a bus? Train? We have a 5 hour layover so plenty of time, but I like to know what to expect. And any suggestions for kid play areas or things to do during our layover? Thanks!!macdaisyposted on Thu, Jun 6You will arrive and depart in the same terminal (Terminal 4). They will probably give you your stroller back at the gate. What kind of help do you need claiming your bags? There usually aren't baggage porters working in immigration due to the difficulty of working there.ZAPposted on Thu, Jun 6Thanks, ZAP! I usually fly through ATL and go through customs/immigration there. I have to physically get my luggage off the belt and take it through to the area where you drop off your luggage for your connecting flight. Since I'll have a stroller, I won't be able to also pull/push a cart with 2 suitcases nor will I be able to pull them myself. In ATL they have helpers, just wondering about JFK. Thanks!macdaisyposted on Fri, Jun 7

AA transit within Terminal 8Jun 5, 201320will be transiting in terminal 8 arriving from LHR at 1:35pm connecting to Orlando departing 2:55pm. Both AA Flights. Will that be enough time for immigration and customs baggage re-check? Are there special lines for transfer passengers at immigration?philposted on Wed, Jun 5There are no lines for transfer passengers. It will be very tough for you to make your connection unless your flight arrives early. Unfortunately, in case you miss your connection AA does not have a later flight that day to Orlando from JFK. Perhaps they can rebook you through Miami or on another airline if that happens.ZAPposted on Wed, Jun 5

Time BetweenJun 5, 201320If you have no luggage except for carry on and you are coming intoTerminal 7 at 5:10 pm will you be able to make a flight leaving Terminal 4 at 6:20 pm?Vern01posted on Tue, Jun 4If your first flight is domestic it's possible, but JFK is one of the most delay-prone airports in the country and your proposed connection is at a peak time. I would advise against trying it. If your first flight is international, no chance.ZAPposted on Tue, Jun 4

from terminal 4 to terminal 8Jun 3, 201310Hi - I'm flying in on KLM from amsterdam #630 @ 3:30 pm terminal 4 and then going onto boston via AA in terminal 8 @ 7:20 pm. Can I check my bag after immigration so I don't have to lug it on the train? thx!schposted on Mon, Jun 3It depends on whether your tickets were bought on the same reservation or not and whether your bag is checked through to BOS or not. KLM and AA do have an interline baggage agreement, but they probably won't check your bag through unless your tickets were bought on a single reservation.ZAPposted on Mon, Jun 3
