  • Is 1.5 hours enough time to between flights from Brazil to RDU
    May 22, 2015

The flight I'm looking at will arrive from Brazil (GRU) on a Saturday at 06:29 AM. I will need to collect my bags, get through customs and catch a flight to RDU at 08:07 AM. The Airline is American - in on a 777 and out on a Embraer ERJ-140.

Yes, that should be enough time but leaves no time to spare for delays.

Thanks for the feedback. Based on your experience, do you think there will be delays at 6:29 AM on a Saturday morning (i know there are a lot of variables, but would like your gut feel). Is this a risk you would take?

Hi. I will be arriving to JFK Terminal 4 at 14:15 from Dubai via Emirates with connecting flight to SYR via Jetblue Terminal 5 at 17:00. Itinerary all in one ticket. Do I have enough time to get to my flight and what will be the baggage procedure with addtional checked bag?

Yes, that should be enough time.

Hi, I reach Terminal 4 (Domestically) and have 1.5hr to go to Terminal 1 to take an overseas flight. Is it enough time? And what s the fastest way??

If both tickets were purchased together on one reservation, yes that should be enough time. The only route from T4 to T1 is to take the AirTrain. You will have to go through security in T1.

No, tickets are seperate. However I'm traveling business class; so in theory is 1.5hrs enough to collect my bags, use the airtrain and check in in T1??

It's possible, but it absolutely depends on that first flight being on-time and your bags coming out quickly. You only have 30 minutes get off the plane, collect your bags, change terminals, and get to the check in counter. I personally would not have booked that connection.

  • JFK Terminal international to domestic connections

Hi, I will be arriving to JFK at 20:10 via Cathay Pacific international flight (T7) and planning to book another domestic departure 22:50 through JetBlue (T5). Read that it requires customs clear. So no check in baggage and also about to purchase jetblue even more speed to reduce TSA security check time. Is it enough time for connection? Thank you.

Yes, without checked baggage I think this would certainly be possible. Check in online for your JetBlue flight before leaving Hong Kong to save more time.

arriving into JFK with Cathay Pacific into Terminal 4 After picking up my luggage, how to I get from Terminal 4 to Delta Airlines at Terminal 7?

You have your terminals backwards. Cathay arrives in Terminal 7 and Delta uses Terminal 2 and 4. Regardless, all terminals are connected outside security by the AirTrain.

when i arrive to Terminal five at JFK, where do i find airtran to get to terminal one?

Just follow signs pointing to the airtrain and other terminal numbers, it will be fairly obvious.

Hi, I am flying from Orlando Int. airport in April to London via JFK. I have a 1hr and 22 mins layover at JFK. Flight arrives at JFK at 21.03 (T8) and departs to London at 22:25 (T8). I purhcased my tickets at the same time (under same reservation no) and both flights are with American Airlines. Is this enough time to make the connection? Also do I need to claim and re-check my luggage at JFK? Do I have to co security at JFK? Thanks.

All you have to do in JFK is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You do not go through US Immigration when leaving the US.

So, my luggage is transferred automatically by the airline from Orlando flight to London flight. I don't know how big is terminal 8 but I'm guessing 1 hr 22 mins is plenty of time? Thanks, Lis

Terminal 8 isn't that big. While JFK is a big airport each terminal is fairly small. Yes, you should have plenty of time and yes your baggage is transferred automatically.

    Thank you.

We will be flying PHX - JFK on USAIRWAYS arriving at 5:07 pm. We have a separate ticket (purchased on sale) from JFK to LIN on BA which leaves at 8:40 pm the same day. While this is a codeshare flight, we will have to re check our bags since the tix were purchased separately. Is this enough time to make the connection?

You can show your BA confirmation to the US Airways agent in PHX and ask if they can check your bags through to LIN, but they are not obligated to. You should have plenty of time to make your connection even if the bags are not checked through.

Thank you very much for the quick reply!

Hello, I am traveling to JFK via Qatar Airways T8 and would like to fly domestic to LAX, I will reach JFKT8 @ 15:00 and want to book a domestic flight to LAX there are 2 flights one @17:30 and the other @ 19:45. I want to book the early flight which will have a gap of 150min , indeed to claim my baggage and then check in again at T8 AMERICAN AIRLINES, would that be possible if my flights both were Business class?

Yes, the 17:30 flight should be doable.

i am flying from TPA and arrive at JFK terminal 5 at 11:13am and have a connection flight in terminal 1 at 12:50 to IST. will 1 hr 3m Layover be enough time? Thanks

Purchased on a single reservation its possible. You will have to take the AirTrain from T5 to T1 and go through security. Purchased on two separate tickets would be difficult if not impossible.

Hi there, will be arriving into JFK on Etihad and am set to fly out on American to LA 2:54 hrs later. We are not American citizens, but will be travelling business class throughout. Etihad says we should be treated as 'domestic arrivals' upon arrival because of pre-clearance in Abu Dhabi, and that our luggage will be sent through directly to LA from Abu Dhabi. Is 2:54 enough time? I had originally thought it was but seeing this forum and others, I'm getting nervous and am looking for feedback on whether I should suck it up and get our tickets changed before the fact to avoid headache. Thanks!

Yes, that should be plenty of time. Yes, Etihad is correct in that there will be no immigration formalities upon arriving in New York as that will be taken care of in Abu Dhabi. All you have to do is take the AirTrain to T8 and go through security.

  • One hour and 16 minutes to connect - possible?

Hello, I will be flying to the US from London and will land at JFK Terminal 8 at 15:35. I will then have to catch a flight to Washington Ronald Reagan at 16:51, also from Terminal 8, leaving a transfer time of 1hr16mins. My flights were all booked at the same time and so are all on one ticket. Will this be enough time and will I have to collect my luggage and re-check or not? I've read conflicting things so all advice is appreciated

Yes, upon arrival in T8 you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then re-check your bags at the transfer desk, then go through security and to your departure gate. The minimum connect time is 90 minutes. It can be done in 1 hr 16 mins but that depends on your flight from London being on-time or preferably early and everything going smoothly.

Hello, the plane from Atlanta DL 1394 is delayed, arriving at gate A5 at 19.29. My mother has a connecting flight to Barcelona DL 476 at gate B24 leaving at 20.29. He goes on wheel chair, is it feasable? Thanks for your support

sorry from gate c67 to gate b24 in 1 hour

He should have enough time. The wheelchair service will help her between Terminals.

Many thanks!!!!! Is there any way i can check if she made it?

Other than getting in contact with her, no, there is not. However, DL 1394 arrived at 7:43 PM and DL 476 didn't push back until 8:56, so she probably made it.

    Thanks again. Very useful!

  • 48 min domestic to international

We are arriving into JFK from San Francisco and then leave to London 48 min later. Both flights on American Airlines in and out of Terminal 8, is this sufficient time or shall I give them a call and get something more reasonable?

That is possible if the first flight is on-time. However, it doesn't leave much time to spare in case of delays.
