Hi! We are an Italian party (18 teenagers+ 2 teachers). We're flying with Delta from Venice to Seattle next April. We'll have checked bags. We have 2 hours 10 min. for the connection. Is that enough time for immigration, clear customs and move from T4 to T2 ?

Hi. Im flying form Charleston to JFK on the 5th of December. My flight time is from 5pm to 7pm. My connection flight is from JFK to OSLO, Norway. My Norwegian flight is at 9.30pm. is this good on time? should i make it?

That should be enough time. If you have checked baggage you will have to claim it from your first airline and take it on the airtrain to Norwegian check-in counter in Terminal 1 to re-check.

Thank you! Do you have any idea which terminal Jet blue uses? I hope i can make it!

your Jetblue flight will arrive in Terminal 5.

My domestic flight with Virgin America lands at 7:05pm. My international flight with Alitalia 605 leaves at 8:35PM. Someone with knowledge please suggest.

I'm guessing you bought tickets separately - it will be very difficult for you to make this if you have checked bags as you will have to claim them from Virgin America in T4 and take them on the AirTrain to T1 to check with Alitalia. It will be hard for you to get there before the checked bag cutoff. If you don't have checked bags, it might be possible.

Thanks. We do not have checked bags. Do you know by any chance if the domestic and international terminals are within walking distance? And how long it takes to go from the domestic to international terminals?

JFK has 6 terminals, 4 of which handle international flights. You will arrive in Terminal 4 and depart from Terminal 1. You cannot walk between terminals. You have to take the AirTrain. It will take you about 20 minutes to get between terminals.

Thank you for your quick response!! We appreciate it!

Hi, My friend and I are flying from Orlando on JetBlue and then Etihad to Abu Dhabi from terminal 4. We are flying on the 10th of december, do you think we can make it? because if not, we'll have to change the flight. Our flight lands in JFK at 8:11PM and our Etihad flight departs at 9:55PM Thanks

Yes, that should be enough time. If you bought tickets together you should be issued both boarding passes in Orlando and all you will have to do in JFK is take the AirTrain from T5 to T4 and go through security.

And what about the winter in JFK? Do aircrafts usually get delayed?

It depends on the weather - JFK is one of the most delay-prone aiports in the United States.

  • Enough time for connection in JFK Terminal 8?

Arriving by USAIR at gate 34, Terminal 8 at 1516, departing by American from gate 46, Terminal 8 at 1600; enough time?

Yes, that should be enough time. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

My TA has booked us arriving Alitalia (which seems to be T1) on a Tuesday at 3:20 and departing Delta (seems to be T4) at 5:30. We are US citizens with checked luggage. Is this at all feasible to make?

Yes, it is possible. Note that most Delta domestic flights use T2, not T4. Where are you flying on Delta? You will be able to re-check your bags at the transfer desk in T1 and Alitalia should be able to issue your Delta boarding passes at your point of origin.

From JFK we fly to Austin, TX on Delta

Yes, that flight will leave from Terminal 2.

Hello! I am arriving on a flight from Madrid at 1:30 p.m. on December 2 and need to get to Penn Station to catch a train. How much time should I allow to get through customs?

I would estimate 45-55 minutes, then it will take you about an 80 minutes to get to Penn Station.

You are awesome! Thank you very much!!!

Arriving on AA into T8 at 13:35 from LHR connecting to AA to RDU 14:55 is this enough time to clear immigration and re-check?

That is about 10 minutes below the minimum connection time. You have a good chance to make it, but there's little to no room for any delays or backups at immigration.

  • T1 to T7 with a 2hr connection

I will be arriving to JFK TI on Turkish Airlines from IST at 11:20 and have a connecting fight in T7on US Airways at 1:20 to PHX. My flights are on separate itineraries so I will have to recheck in at T7. Is 2hrs enough time to get through immigration and customs, change terminals, check in, and go through security and still make my flight?

It's probably enough time, but it leaves very little time to spare in the case of delays or long lines at Immigration. Turkish and US Airways have an interline agreement, so you can show the Turkish agent in IST your US Airways confirmation and ask if they can check your bag through to PHX. They are not obligated to, but if they do, you will be able to re-check your bag in T1 at the transfer desk. Also, be sure to check in online for your US Airways flight before you leave Turkey. Finally, and this is important, be aware that US Airways has moved to Terminal 8 at JFK.

  • 82 min connection T4 to T2

we are arriving in T4 from BRU at 1:37PM, our connecting flight to LAS is at 2:59PM. They changed our flights around chopping 30 min of our transfer time. I'm wondering if 82 minutes will be enough time...

82 minutes is 8 minutes below the minimum time for such a connection. However, if you call to be rebooked, your only options will to be to add another connection in Detroit or Atlanta.

There should be another flight at 7:15PM, hope they can put us on that one if we don't make it :)

    and at 5:15PM I see...

If you prefer then, you can contact who you booked your ticket through and ask to be rebooked on the 5:15 flight, since you had an involuntary schedule change to a connection below 90 minutes.

Will be flying into JFK on 02 Jan from Brussels. Have 97 minutes to make a connecting flight to Tampa. All flights are Delta. Is this enough time or will I be pushing it. My only other option is a 5+ hour layover at JFK before the next flight to Tampa. Would prefer not to do that. Thanks.

    1. Upon arrival at JFK at Terminal 4 (T4), you need to go through passport check, retrieve checked bags, go through customs clearance and - if transferring to another flight - re-check-in bag. 2. Your connecting Delta flight will be Terminal 2 - Delta's domestic terminal - tel. 800-221-1212 (Delta International - tel. 800-241-4141). 3. While Delta shuttles run between gate C60 at T2 & gate B23 at T4 (a 2 min transfer time) - this may only apply to domestic arrivals - do check with Delta). If Delta shuttle does not apply, you would need to take the 'Airline Terminal Train' (follow signs) running continuously between terminals, to the next stop, which is T2 - but would need to go through security check there before proceeding to your gate. (By mid-2015 there will be a connector between the two terminals.) Either way, you should be able to make your transfer in time.

I arrive at JFK on Nov 8th at 6:05 AM from Brazil on AA term 8. I have a fligth on same airline and terminal at 8:00 AM, I can't check my bags all the way through as I bought the tickets separetaly My question is: Will the time from arrival and departure be enough to clear Immigration/customs and check in again? I do have a Global Entry but it will be my first time using so I dont really know if speed the process at all

Yes, that should be enough time. If both tickets are on American, you can bring your information for the second flight and the agent in Brazil should be able to look up the reservation and tag the bag through to your final destination. However, you will still have to claim your bag to go through US Customs, in that case, you will be able to use the transfer desk though without having to go to the check-in counters.

Hello, I have Delta Airlines flight from Boston which arrives into JFK T4 at 1415. I then have an international flight with Iberia from T7 at 1705. Is this enough time for the transfer/immigration etc. i will not have any checked luggage

You will not have to go through Immigration. All you have to do is take the AirTrain from T4 to T7, get your Iberia boarding pass if you don't already have it, and go through security. You should have plenty of time.

Thanks ZAP, should have said I am a spanish citizen, is this still the same?

Yes, you never have to go through US Immigration when leaving the US.
