I am flying Delta SFO to JFK then have a 4 hour layover before my Delta flight to LHR. Both arrival and departure are terminal 4. Am I able to leave the terminal while I wait for my connection?

Yes, you are allowed to leave the terminal. However, there's not really much of anywhere to go in that amount of time.

Thank you for your reply. I need to leave as my parents are bringing me a suitcase with summer clothes to take to London. Will I be able to check another bag in for my connecting flight?

I'll be arriving into terminal 4 from Dublin with Delta and then from terminal 2 to Orlando with delta. Does it take long to move between terminals. I assume luggage won't be collected till Orlando ??

Yes, as you will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Dublin you won't have to do anything with your bags in JFK. Just take the shuttle bus to T2 and go to your departure gate. it should take less than 20-25 minutes.

Ok thank you. Are shuttle buses near the arrival gates to go to the other terminals

The only shuttle bus inside security is the one between T2 and T4. There are plenty of signs. Delta calls it the JFK Jitney.

We are arriving at JFK from Rome at 6:20 p.m and departing from JFK to RDU at 8:29. Will this be enough time and do we need to recheck our bags?

If both flights are on the same reservation that should be just enough time.

Im arriving at JFK from Amsterdam with KLM at terminal 4 at 11.50, and have a connecting flight to Baltimore from Terminal 8 (American Airlines) at 16.05. Im not a US citizen and I have check-in luggage. Will I have enough time to make it to my connecting flight?

Yes, that should be plenty of time. Note that you will have to transfer your bags yourself to Terminal 8 on the AirTrain.

Hi, my wife and I have a flight from Salt Lake International to JFK and have about an hour to make our connection there to Shannon. They are both Delta flights. Will I make my connection in time?

Yes, that is enough time. If you arrive in Terminal 2, it is connected inside security to Terminal 4 by a shuttle bus.

Delta Airlines 316 Class T (PHL) to (JFK) on arriving at 1724 Delta Airlines 1041 Class T Operated by Alitalia from (JFK) leaving at 2215 to (FCO) I'm not sure yet which Terminal I'm coming in in JFK. The Wingtips is the only one that's open during the time we're there. Thank you.

You could arrive in Terminal 2 or 4. Yes, that is enough time to go to a lounge.

Virgin Atlantic stopped direct San Fran to Manchester flight! Now been booked on San franciso to Manchester via JFK! I understand delta and virgin Atlantic are code partners! We land at JFK 2020 and take for Manchester 2130! Not sure 1hour 10mins layover is enough time as do we have to collect bags and recheck in for thee second flight! Any thoughts gladly appreciated as never had connecting flight before Mark

All you have to do in JFK is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate in Terminal 4. You have enough time if the flight from San Francisco is on-time.

Thanks for getting back to me and putting ones mind at ease!

  • Is it Possible to Make JetBlue Connection from Santo Domingo to Chicag
    Mar 20, 2017

Hi. My daughter is flying from Santo Domingo in DR arriving at JFK at 2:04 with a connecting flight on JetBlue to Chicago departing at 3:45p. I imagine she will go thru customs in NYC. Does she have enough time to make her connecting flight?

If she has no checked bags she has a slight chance if everything goes perfectly. With checked bags she has no chance.

My aunt is arriving from an international flight to JFK and she will have 1h30 minutes to transfer to another international flight. Both her flights are in terminal 4. Is it possible to make the connections in time? Thank you

It's barely enough time if everything goes perfectly.

Hi. I will be arriving tomorrow at 14.40 terminal 5 with Aer Lingus - I will have pre-clearance. have booked a delta flight leaving from terminal 2 - gate C68 leaving at 3.30pm - hope to check bags thru all the way - what is the quickest way from terminal 5 to terminal 2 and will I make it in 50 minutes?

Aer Lingus won't check your bags through to Delta, so you won't make it.

Travelling to Abu Dabai from Boston thru JFK on the same reservation thru Eithad: - Do I need to recheck bags from BOS before taking off to Abu Dabai? - Do I need to go back to the Etihad desk to get my tickets outgoing from JFK or will I be able to get tickets for all my legs at the AA desk in Boston? On my way back, similar questions: - When returning from Abu Dabai, will I need to recheck my bags to get from JFK to BOS?

You won't need to re-check your bags in JFK. They should be able to issue both boarding passes in Boston. On the way back you will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Abu Dhabi, so you again won't have to do anything with your bags in JFK.
