    My dad is a frequent flyer so he's practically and expert when it comes to airlines and airport. Last year, I was able to go alone from New York to Ankara via Istanbul. I told my dad that I was planning on leaving early to get something to eat before my flight and he recommended this place. This place is probably as close to Turkish food than any other Turkish place in the U.S. they give classic Turkish sweets and desserts and various food while still serving American treats and sandwiches. They even serve classic Turkish coffee and tea. Now I've been traveling frequently and I always stop by this place whenever my flight is in Terminal 1. Definitely recommend this to anyone, especially those who are planning to actually go to Istanbul

    10-15 minutes. Depends on how long you have to wait for your gate-check bag on your Delta Connection flight (if you have one).

    It may be enough time but it may not be. There are reports of immigration taking a really long time at JFK, but it varies a lot by time of day and terminal. You may get lucky.

    So can i handle the luggage all by my self. When you get your bags, can you find a cart right around there easily and do you have to go downstairs or something if yes is there an elevator to take with the cart to catch the airtrain? Sorry for my dum questions. I just don't like the unknown. Many thanks again.

    The baggage claim is on the ground level where you find the carts. Then look for the Airline Terminals Train sign and head for the train. However, you can't take the cart onto the train!

    I'm coming in from Rome on Delta at 4:40 pm, need to connect to Delta domestic flight to Detroit at 6:15. Do I have to go through customs and immigration? Which terminal will I likely be arriving at? Departing from? What kind of terminal to terminal transportation is available? Is this time line manageable?

    Yes, you will have to go through immigration in JFK. Your flight will arrive in Terminal 3 and depart from Terminal 2. There is a walkway between the two terminals. With the amount of time that it commonly takes to get through immigration in New York, I think there's a good chance you will miss your connection and have to spend the night in New York unless your flight from Rome gets in quite early. You are on the last JFK-DTW flight of the day.

    You have to take the Air Train and hurry! If your Jet Blue flight is delayed at all you will miss your connection.

    JetBlue uses terminal 5 and Air Berlin uses Terminal 8. Take the Airtrain between the terminals. Budget about an hour for your connection, a little more if you have to claim bags with JetBlue and take them to Air Berlin. (this is assuming your JetBlue flight is domestic).
