  • Going from T5 to T1

I will be flying from TPA to JFK via JetBlue. Then taking a flight from JFK to Istanbul via Turkish Airlines. The tickets for the entire flight will be purchased together so I believe the luggage will continue to IST without me having to pick it up at JFK. My question is, which Terminal Train will I take to T1? And once I get there, what needs to be done? Will I already have my boarding pass to IST from when I departed Tampa (Jet Blue) or will I have to go to the ticket counter at Terminal 1 and then go through security again? I will have 2 1/2 hours to get from T5 to T1. Thanks.

There's just one train that runs both ways around the loop. Just board the one that the signs say is going towards T1. JetBlue will probably be able to issue your Turkish boarding pass but you may have to stop at their ticket counter if they can't. You should have enough time.

  • Terminal 2 to terminal 1

I have a connecting flight April 29 between delta terminal 2 and air france terminal . 76 minutes if on time. Delta says it's a legal connection but I am wondering if it really is enough time being as I must relearn security at t1?

On arrival at Terminal 2 take the 'Airline Terminals Train' (marked on JFK's maps in yellow) running counter-clockwise from T1 to T8, T7, T5, T4 & T2/3) and taking only minutes between them. Your connecting terminal is T1 (Air France) - however, if you did not buy your flights on one ticket, you would need to claim your bags at T2, take them on the train to T1, proceed to AirFrance check-in counter & check them in there before continuing to your connecting gate.

  • 1 hr 20 min Impossible transfer time?

Hi, I'm arriving with a Delta flight at 4:10 PM from Milan. I have AA tickets to Miami departing at 5:30 PM ( they changes time after I purchased tickets and it's last flight of day). It's impossible to clear customs, collect bags, check bags and change terminals in that amount of time?

That will be really tough. It's possible if your Milan flight is early, but still very difficult. You will probably have to transfer the bags yourself and probably get to T8 after the bag cutoff. You could request a refund from AA considering they changed the time on you and book a flight on JetBlue to Fort Lauderdale (I assume they have one later than 5:30 PM).

  • Connecting time international flights

Will We, family with 2 kids, have enough time to make our international connection if we arrive at 16:30at JFK from Toronto with Canadian Express and our flight to London leaves at 18:30 with Virgen A. And can we stay at the international side of the airport or do we have to go in and out of passport control?

There's no such airline as Canadian Express. Do you mean Air Canada Express? You should have enough time. You will pre-clear US Immigration in Toronto. If you purchased your tickets together then Air Canada should be able to check your bags through to London in Toronto. Otherwise you will have to claim them in JFK. Then you will take the AirTrain from Terminal 7 to Terminal 4 where you will have to get your Virgin Atlantic boarding passes if you don't already have them, check your bags if you had to claim them, and go through security and to your gate. You have enough time, but you will have to hurry and it doesn't leave much time for delays.

I will be arriving from Dubai by emirates on May 18 morning and will take connecting flight to Atlanta at13.25 by delta at T2 . I will be coming with my family . So do I go to terminal 2 from Terminal 4 Thanks in advance.

Your delta flight may leave from T2 or T4, check flight status before you depart.

First time doing the connecting thing....and in a new airport for me. This is not booked yet. But this is what I'm facing. Delta arrives at 10:06. Guessing T2. I'm connecting Jet Blue, T5, to Punt Cana, DR at 11:15. Is this even doable? I assume I can easily get to teminal to terminal barring no delays. My big question is; do I need to do the baggage thing? Pick up/drop off/ security check again?

    Also, flying in from Chicago

Yes, you will have to manually transfer your baggage and go through security in T5. Therefore you will absolutely not have enough time to do this transfer unless your flight from Detroit is very early. I would suggest either flying in on Delta to JFK the night before and spending the night at a hotel near JFK or finding another way to Punta Cana.

Sorry, instead of flight from Detroit I meant Flight from Chicago. From Chicago, Frontier flies from ORD to Punta Cana nonstop and their fares are generally pretty low, the downside is the flights aren't daily.

    Ty very much. Much APPECIATED

  • 1h25 layover in JFK from YQB
    Apr 9, 2014

Bought one ticket from Delta june 25th from YQB (quebec City) to FLL with a transfer at JFK. Arrival at JFK at 6:45 AM and flight to FLL at 8:10 AM (DL1271). I'm worrying about this short layover. YQB don't have pre clearance for US customs. So, i figure that the arrival will be at terminal 4. I'm right ? Don't know yet if flight to FLL launch from T4 or T2. Mabe i will have to change terminal. I will travel with women and childs (7 and 4) with checked luggages. I know that my luggage will be checked in at YQB, so, this must be helpful. In addition, Delta still sale this flight. For this reason, I also figure that it should be ok. I'm too naive/optimist ?? First time at JFK. Any tips that can help ? Thank in advance and sorry for my french-canadian style english :-)

This will be very difficult. Yes, you will arrive in Terminal 4, go through US Immigration, claim your baggage, go through US Customs, and re-check it. Usually Delta flights from JFK Terminal 4 start with the number 4 and flights from Terminal 2 start with 2. However, your flight starts with neither, which is confusing. Immigration should not be crowded at that time of the morning but this will still be a very tough connection to make. Also, Delta has another flight at 11:30, so if you do miss your connection you won't have to wait that long until the next flight.

Thanks for your answer, even if it's not the answer i was hoping to... I saw on flightstats that DL1271 used to launch from T4. My bags should be tagged to FLL at YQB, so i should not have to re-check it. Does it will help ? Finally, why Delta sold that kind of flight ??

Should i contact Delta to see if it's possible to get an arrangement ?

Any time you enter the US and go through Immigration, you have to claim your bags to go through US customs, then re-check, even if your bags are tagged through to your final destination. That's the law. When Delta 1271 operated JFK-FLL for three days this fall it left from T2 two days and T4 three days. I don't know why Delta sold you those flights. I don't know what kind of arrangement you would expect to get out of Delta.

Hi again, Just telling that I just speak with expedia agent (who spoke with Delta one) who firmly confirm that the plane from YQB will arrive at terminal 2 and the flight to FLL depart from terminal 2 too. Mabe that's why Delta offering a so short layout connection. The agent told me that everything should be ok. Anyway, as ticket is bought, i fell less anxious about this. Just prepared my mind for the worst case i'll take the 11h30 flight. Thanks again !

  • JFK International to Domestic - Is 1hr 50 min enough?

Hi, My wife and baby will be arriving by emirates flight from Dubai at terminal 4 at 8:25 am and have a US airways connecting flight to Charlotte at terminal 8 at 10:15 am Is this enough time for them to transfer as I have heard stories about long queues at immigration checks.(they are not US citizens)

It will be tough but not impossible to make that connection.

  • Enough time? Please help?

I am arriving at terminal 4 from Johannesburg, South Africa at 06:40am. My next flight is on delta to miami from terminal 8 at 9am. They are 2 separate reservations so I'll have to recheck baggage. Will this be enough time? The next flight to Miami is only at 11:45am which will be a really long wait. Is there some sort of express queue at immigration for passengers with short connection times? Thanks in advance.

That will probably be enough time. There are no express queues. Also, Delta does not use Terminal 8. They use Terminals 2 and 4. American uses Terminal 8.

Thanks, I actually meant to say American Airlines, not Delta.

I just booked Hawaiian T5 landing at 6:55 am and was thinking of booking Delta T4 departing at 8:12 am. All domestic flights. I am from NYC and will NOT have any checked baggage. Just didn't want to book a 3 hour layover if it can be avoided.

It's possible but it's essential that you check in online for your Delta flight before you depart on your Hawaiian flight. Also, it levaes almost no time for delays.

  • British Airways - Delta enough time?
    Mar 29, 2014
    2
Hi, Me and a friend are travelling from London Heathrow to Terminal 8 JFK with British Airways, then to Austin, Texas with Delta from JFK Terminal 2. We have a 3 hour stop over at JFK, Will this be enough time to get to Terminal 2 and check in? The flights have been booked separately. We intend to check in online with delta before we leave. How long before departure do we have to be at the gate? What is the latest time our bags have to be at the drop off location? Thank you in advance. BN

Apologies we arrive into terminal 7 at JFK

Yes, that should be enough time. You should be at the gate 30 minutes prior to departure. However, the bag cutoff for Delta at JFK is 60 minutes. So you will need to be at their check-in counter 1 hour before your flight.

Hi, I´m traveling from LAX (with Delta airlines) to JFK and then to Gothenburg (with Air Berlin) on two seperate tickets. I arrive in JFK at 3:11 PM on Sunday 4th of May and departure for Gothenburg is at 5:30 PM. Is 2 h 20 min enough time for getting from one terminal to other including immigration control and collecting luggage?

Since both LA and New York are in the United States you will not have to go through Immigration in New York. All you will have to do is claim your baggage in Terminal 4, then take your bags on the AirTrain to Terminal 8 to check them with Air Berlin. You should have enough time but there's not much buffer time for delays.

  • Aeroflot - American Airlines

Hi, me and my friends are traveling from Moscow SVO to JFK and then to LAX. We arrive in JFK at 5:10 PM on Saturday 28th of June and departure for US Airways (operated by American Airlines) to LAX is at 7:20 PM. Is 2 h 20 min enough time for getting from one terminal to other including immigration control?

It should be enough time. Aeroflot and American do have an interline baggage agreement so if you purchased your tickets on one reservation Aeroflot should be able to check your bags through to American. You will take the AirTrain from your T1 arrival to depart from T8.
