  • Delta to Korean Air, Connecting from Terminal 2 to 1
    Apr 19, 2015
My wife's Delta flight from TPA to JFK around 10PM, connecting to Korean Air from JFK to ICN at 00:50AM. I think connecting will be from Terminal 2 to 1, isn't it? Question 1: Does she have enough time to make connection? Question 2: Ticket agency issued her tickets as separate tickets, but Delta call center/customer service told us they can check bag through. In case she has to claim her luggage and re-check-in, does she have time? Question 3: Where is transfer desk of Korean Air inside JKF where she can get boarding pass for flight from JFK to ICN (Seoul)?

Her flight from Tampa may arrive in Terminal 4 or Terminal 2. Yes, she should have enough time whether she has to transfer the bags herself or not. She will have to exit security to get to Terminal 1. So she can access the regular Korean Air check-in desk rather than a transfer desk.

Thank you, ZAP! We never connect in JFK, how can she get to T1? I assume there is train or something, Delta told us there is a DELTA shuttle bus, can it get to T1 within security zone?

  • terminal 7 to 8 connection
    Apr 19, 2015
Like an earlier post four of us have purchased 2 separate tickets for travel on 8 July: one is from Icelandair, arriving JFK at 12:30 Terminal 7, then depart JFK on American at 12:55 terminal 8. Would I have enough time to clear customs, pick up baggage, check in, go through security for the American flight? I can change my ticket to have a 18:00 flight from Newark or LGA if first option not possible.

No, 25 minutes is not nearly enough time. You'll have to switch to a later flight.

  • Terminal 1 to 5 in 2 hours?
    Apr 19, 2015
I have a Norwegian Air flight that arrives at 8:05pm on a Sunday (T1) and a JetBlue flight that departs to IAD at 10:10pm (T5). Is that enough time to go through customs, pick up bags, and check in again? I may be able to only have a carry on...

With carry-on only it should definitely be enough time if your first flight is on-time. With Checked bags you should be OK but it doesn't leave much time to spare if there are any delays.

Hi ZAP and everybody !! My name is Paolo and i'm italian. On Saturday 13th June i'm arriving at JFK at 18:45 with a domestic Delta flight from MIA and at 20:30 from T1 lands off my Alitalia plane for Milano Malpensa (MPX). Checking in online with Alitalia is it possible to try this connection !? I have luggages. I tried to change my tickets but it's impossible because penalties are more expensive than the ticket price. Please help..

Yes, it is possible. Assuming you purchased your tickets together your bags will be transferred. All you have to do is take the AirTrain from T2 or T4 where you will arrive to T1 where you will depart and go through security.

I purchased them separately. I have 2 separate tickets amd Alitalia check in closes at 19:30. Have i to buy other 2 tickets from MIA to JFK to arrive there before ? or do you think it's still possible ?

Since Delta and Alitalia are in SkyTeam they should be able to check your bags through to Milan in Miami. It is possible if you don't get them transferred, but you'll have to hope your flight from Miami is on-time or early and your bags come out quickly.

So if you were me would you buy other 2 tickets for me and my girlfriend for $ 150 each or would you risk to lose the Alitalia plane spending 500 $ for each ticket !? If i check in online with Alitalia the risk is quite low ? Thak you very much, you are a very very kind and knowledgeble person.

  • Terminal connection information
    Apr 18, 2015
I am arriving on Delta in Terminal 4 and have 1 hour and 10 minutes to get to Alitalia Air in Terminal 1 flying to Italy. Will I have to go through security again? What is the fastest way to get to terminal 4 from terminal 1

You have to take the AIrTrain from T4 to T1 and go through security. You have enough time if your first flight is on-time.

  • T8 International to Domestic Connection
    Apr 18, 2015
I will be arriving on an AA flight from LHR to JFK T8 and departing to DCA also from T8. The connection time is 1hr15 minutes. Do I need to exit through immigration and then re-enter? Is this enough time to make the connection?

Yes, you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the transfer desk, then go through security and to your departure gate. That is 15 minutes shorter than the recommended time for that connection. It's possible but there's no room to spare for delays.

  • Connecting flight time crunch?
    Apr 18, 2015
I have a delta flight from SLC arriving at JFK at 3:07pm (not sure what terminal) and then a connecting flight to the Dominican Republic leaving at 4pm from Terminal 4. Is this enough time between flights? Do I have to recheck my baggage or go through customs for the DR? Any advice would be great! Thanks!

All you have to do in JFK is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. If you arrive in Terminal 2, Delta runs a shuttle bus between T2 and T4 inside security. You will go through DR immigration and customs when you get to DR.

Thank you! Is that also enough time for my baggage to get put on the connecting flight as well?

Yes, it should be enough time.

  • Cathay to delta connection
    Apr 17, 2015
Hello I am looking at an arrival from Hong Kong on Cathay at 1:05PM (I believe Terminal 7) and then a connection to Montreal on Delta at 3:20 PM (terminals 2 or 4). Is this doable?

Booked together as one ticket, it's definitely doable. Booked as two separate tickets it's doable, but depends on everything going very smoothly in order for it to work since you will have to transfer your bags from T7 to T4 yourself.

  • Icelandair arrival then United departure
    Apr 16, 2015
I purchased 2 separate tickets for travel on 5/27: one is from Icelandair, arriving JFK at 12:30pm, then depart JFK on United at 2pm. Would I have enough time to clear customs, pick up baggage, check in, go through security for the 2pm United flight? Both airlines are located in Terminal 7. Please advise. Thanks!

You will have to hope your Icelandair flight is on-time and lines at customs and Immigration are short in order to make it.

  • JFK Finnair Terminal 8 to JetBlue Terminal 5
    Apr 16, 2015
I will be arriving at JFK, 3:50 p.m. at Terminal 8 and would like to make a connecting reservation with JetBlue departing at 5:55 p.m. on a Sunday afternoon in August. Will I have enough time to get my bags, get through immigration and customs and make it to Terminal 5 to check my bag and get through security? I am not familiar with JFK so there will be disorientation to take into consideration as well. Thanks

That would probably be barely possible. It would definitely be pushing it if there are any delays at all.

  • help with terminals

Hi, my parents will travel from Moscow to jfk and have connect flight to Richmond VA. What arrival terminal and what terminal parents need for Richmond VA. My parents old and not speak English. If I order wheelchair person can he help my parents go from one terminal to another?

I can't answer your question unless you can tell me what airlines your parents are flying.

  • Transfer from Terminal 4 to Terminal 2
    Apr 17, 2015
Hi there I am flying with Delta from LAX to San Juan, Puerto Rico with a stop over at JFK, all booked together. My flight arrives at Terminal 4 at 5:55am and departs from Terminal 2 at 7:00am so I have 1.05 minute stop over, will this give me enough time to make my connecting flight? Do I need to clear through security again? Does Delta have a shuttle bus for connecting flights? Thank you

I mean I have 1 hour and 5 minutes connection time

Most Puerto Rico flights leave from Terminal 4. However, even if it leaves from Terminal 2 you have plenty of time. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate and Delta runs a shuttle bus inside security to Terminal 2 if you need to go there.

My itinerary says it departs from terminal 2, is this subject to change? That sounds perfect so I won't need to go through security again if I catch the shuttle bus between terminals? How often does the shuttle bus run?

Yes, it is subject to change. The shuttle bus runs almost constantly. Yes, you won't have to go through security at JFK even if you have to take the shuttle bus.

  • T7 to T8 transfer
    Apr 17, 2015
Arriving on BA from LHR into T7, departing on AA to BOS from T8. I assume I will collect my luggage, clear customs and drop the bags at the transfer counter. Out into fresh air, onto the train and off again at T8. back through security and off to my gate. I have about 2:30 for the connection. Am I correct? Any possible issues? Thanks...

oh, forgot to mention, this is a single through-ticket (I actually start the trip in Nice). I'd assume that the bags will be labelled right through to BOS.

You have the process correct. Yes, the bags will be tagged to BOS but you'll still have to claim and re-check them in JFK. 2:30 should be plenty of time.

Thanks. One other thing... I'm a OneWorld Sapphire member. Are there any express lanes for customs, security etc?

That may get you priority security in T8. If so it will be printed on your boarding pass.

  • do i have enough time?
    Apr 16, 2015
Flying Delta from CLE to JFK. Arriving at 18:43. Flight on Singapore Airlines leaves for FRA at 20:55. Will I need to collect my luggage and re-check it? Do I need to go through security again? Do I have enough time? Thanks.

Did you purchase your tickets separately or together. If together then you won't have to claim your bags and just have to walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, both in T4. If separately you will have a tough time because you will have to claim your bags from Delta and re-check them with Singapore then go through security.

I purchased my tickets separately. I can take an earlier flight but that means sitting in JFK for almost 8 hours.

You'll either have to do that or you can fly to LGA and leave about 4 hours between flights and do a connection between airports. There's a lot more flights from CLE to LGA than to JFK.

  • security clearance for same terminal
    Apr 15, 2015
Hi, I will be flying into JFK from Dublin with AA and have the connecting flight from the same terminal with same airline. I would have pre clearance for immigration at Dublin so I won't need to go through it again in JFK. Will I need to go through security again at JFK for my connecting flight? Please help and Thanks!

No, all you have to do in JFK is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

    Thanks a million!
