Hi. We're flying from BWI(Baltimore) to ICN(South Korea), with a connecting flight at JFK. BWI-JFK=Delta and JFK-ICN=Korean Air. It was all booked together and checked in online with Delta. It looks like the flight out from JFK to ICN will leave Terminal 1, but not sure which terminal the incoming from BWI will be. Does anyone know if we'll have to pick up our checked bags at JFK (from BWI Delta) and have to go through security again to depart to Korea? It seems like if we just got off a plane from BWI we should be able to catch the connecting flight without having to go through the whole TSA process again. If the flights are at different terminals, is there a shuttle on the secure side of the check point that can facilitate this? Seems like it would ease the burden on TSA, since we will have already gone through security at BWI first. Thanks for any help.
You arrive in Terminal 2 or 4. You will have to take the AirTrain to Terminal 1 and go through security. You don't have to do anything with your bags in JFK on the way to Seoul if both flights are on the same reservation.
Thank you for the response
will be flying from Montreal, Canada and stoping in NY- JFK for a 45 min layover before a flight to LAX (california) is this enough time?
What airline? Are both flights on the same reservation?
DELTA and yes same airline
And same reservation
Hi there. I am looking at a flight that arrives in Terminal 4 (Delta International) and departs with KLM (Terminal 4) 55 minutes later. If arriving from an international connection and connecting on internationally, do you have to recheck bags, or go through security or immigration? Will this be enough time? Thanks!
Where are you flying from and to? Are both flights on the same reservation?
Both flights would be on the same reso (not booked yet). Flying in to JFK from YYZ (Toronto) and flying to AMS (Amsterdam).
Since you will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto, that would be possible. All you have to do at JFK is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.
We have a 39 minute layover both Terminal 5 Jet Blue. Just carry on luggage. Is this possible
Yes, that is barely possible if the first flight is on-time.
In January, I am flying from Buffalo to JFK on Jetblue. I have a 4 hour layover before connection on TAP Portugal. It appears as though Jetblue and TAP Portugal are both located in Terminal 5. Will I need to claim my checked baggage upon arrival into JFK and recheck them and go through security again before boarding TAP Portugal? And is a 4 hour layover enough time?
If it's one reservation all you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. If it's two separate reservations you will likely have to claim and re-check your bags and go through security. You have plenty of time.
Hi: We are flying into JFK from KEF to DTW on a Friday on Delta. Is 2 hours 20 mins transit enough time at JFK? We have never been to JFK airport and have heard that it is a huge airport so we are concern about switching between terminals. Thank you for any information you can provide.
Yes, that should be enough time if everything goes smoothly. Most Delta flights from JFK to Detroit depart from Terminal 4, which is the same terminal where you arrive. The two terminals Delta uses are right next to each other.
We are connecting from JetBlue, terminal 5, to LATAM, terminal 8 on a single ticket. Will we have to go through security at terminal 8 or is there a secure way to travel from 5 to 8?
Yes, you will have to go through security again in Terminal 8.
If our first flight is on time we will have 2 hours and 12 minutes before the next flight leaves. Will it be best to check our bags through or carry-on? What else can we do to optimize our chances of making the connection?
It doesn't matter whether you check bags or not. You won't have to do anything with them in JFK on the way to South America.
also street address
Emirates uses Terminal 4. The Street address is meaningless, any app should recognize JFK Terminal 4 as a location
where does one go to get the tram in terminal 2 once your down in baggage and need to go to another terminal? I was told the tram station in terminal 2 is outside ,is that correct?
Yes, it's located across the roadway via a covered (but outdoor) pedestrian bridge. It's well marked.
I fly into terminal 2 arriving at 11:48am on a Monday and depart JFK terminal 5 about an hour later. Is it an easy connection or will it be a nightmare given the day and dysfunction of that airport?
You have close to zero chance of making that connection.
