JFK has no lockers. If you use 2 different airlines, check if first airline will transfer bags to second one. If not, you could claim your bag at the arrivals level, go to the departures level and check it in at your connecting airline counter.

All international arrivals at US airports, regardless of citizenship, need to go through passport control, pick up bags, go through customs clearance (where indicated) and - if continuing journey - re-check-in bags. You need to find out if El Al will transfer bags to AA connecting flight - if not, you need, after customs clearance, take your bag along and check it in at T8's Departure Level, at the AA counter. In either case you will transfer via Airtrain serving all terminals and coming around every 8 mins on average. The Airtrain (follow signs) serves only pre-security areas - at T8 you need to go through security check before proceeding to your gate.

This is true even if we are only landing in JFK to switch to another international flight out of the United States?

At Toronto Pierson Airport he should go through US customs clearance. At JFK, on arrival, he needs to follow "Airtrain" sign which connects all JFK terminals in the non-secured areas. On arrival at T4, he needs to go through security check before proceeding to his connecting gate. He needs to make sure that AA will transfer bags to connecting airline, if he uses a different one (Qatar?), if not, he would need to take his bags along and check them in at T4 before proceeding to security check and gate.

At JFK, JetBlue uses both Terminals 4 & 5, while United uses Terminal 7. T4 has Concourse A, gates A2-7, and Concourse B,gates B20-30 and an inside AirTrain station. T5 has 25 gates (no concourses). T7 has on its Concourse level 12 gates surrounding it. On arrival at JFK, follow the Airtrain sign and take it to Terminal 7. There you need to go through security check before proceeding to your gate. CHECK with JetBlue if they transfer your bags to United flight - if not you need to claim your bag on arrival and take it with you to T7, & check it in with United.

As both Air Canada & South African airlines belong to the Star Alliance, your bags will automatically be transferred to your connecting gate at JFK. On arrival at T7 (provided you went through US customs clearance in Canada) follow signs to the Airtrain running on average every 8 mins between all terminals, but at pre-security areas. You have plenty of time: JetBlue (code B6) uses both Terminals 4 & 5 adjacent to each other; while Chine Airline (code MU) uses Terminal 1. You need to find out from JetBlue if they will transfer your bags to the China Airline connecting flight - if not, you would have to claim your bags on arrival and take them with you on the Airtrain - connecting all terminals (follow signs) and check them in at China Airlines counter before proceeding through security and gates. If bags are being transferred, you may simply opt to exit your terminal and walk over to T1 or take the Airtrain, which serves the unsecured areas of the terminals.

Assuming you arrive at JFK by Emirates Airways, you need to contact Emirates to find out if they transfer your bags to your connecting airline flight. On arrival at JFK you need to go through passport control, pick up your bags and go through customs clearance - if Emirates transfers bags - re-check them in where indicated - if not, take your bag to the departures level and re-check it in at your connecting airline's counter. If Air China does not transfer your bags to the Delta connecting flight, you need, after going through customs clearance, take your bag along to the connecting terminal and check it in there with Delta. Note that Delta uses Terminals 2 (gates 19-29), T3 (gates 1-18) & T4 (gates A2-7 & B20-30). Take the Airtrain at T1 serving all terminals in the unsecured areas; at your connecting terminal you need to go through security check before continuing on to your gate.

You need to find out from Qatar whether they will transfer your bags to Delta connection - if not, you would have to take your bag along on the Airtrain, connecting all terminals in their unsecured area, running on average every 8 mins - (there you would have to go to the Delta counter and re-check-in your bag)

Luckily, both ANA & AC airlines use Terminal 7 - and Global Entry indeed cuts down on customs procedure; You should have no problem connecting in time (unless ANA is seriously late).

After arrival at JFK count on 35-50 mins for passport control, pick up bags, go through customs clearance & re-check-in bags. Thereafter use the AirTain (follow signs) which runs on average every 7 mins between the terminals, taking only minutes. At Terminals 2/3 you need to go through security check before proceeding to your gate. You have enough time.

JFK's terminals are open 24/7, so is the Airtrain connecting all terminals.
