I arrive monday on virgin america from sfo at 3:45 at terminal 4 and then have a separate ticket to go terminal 4 swiss air leaving at 6:10. I believe I have to pick up my baggage and then re enter? will I have enough time? Should I change my flight?

That should be enough time if your first flight is on-time.

I will arrive at terminal 1 at 1735 and need to get to terminal 4 for a flight that leaves for Milan at 1834. Will I have enough tome?

What airport? What airlines? Where are you arriving from? Were your tickets purchased separately or together? Will you have checked bags? I can't really answer your question with the information you have given.

I travel from Columbus to JFK to Paris to Bangalore. The entire journey of 3 flights is on 1 single reservation. CMH to JFK arrives in terminal 4 and JFK to Paris leaves from terminal 1. Do i need to collect baggage at terminal 4 or will the baggage be checked all the way through to paris/bangalore? what are the activities/procedures involved in getting from terminal 4 to terminal 1

No, you do not need to claim your baggage in JFK. All you have to do in JFK is take the AirTrain from T4 to T1 and go through security.

  • 2 hr Connection time enough for int'l flight

I am flying from Orlando to Dhaka (Bangladesh) on 16 July 2015. Scheduled flight with Jetblu from MCO to JFK (T5) will suppose to arrive on 21:00 and connected flight to Dubai with Emirates scheduled to fly on 23:00 from JFK (T4). I bought the ticket from american express website as a single trip (from MCO to DAC). Do I have enough time to caught the flight? Do I need to collect baggage at JFK and transfer transit counter? or I have to check in my bag at MCO and collect from DAC?

Your baggage should be checked through to Dhaka in Orlando. All you have to do in JFK is take the AirTrain from T5 to T4 and go through security.

Will 2 hr enough for this procedure? Or will this be tight for changing terminal and go through security?

2 hours should be enough time.

    Thanks

I will be travelling from Istanbul to New York. My flight should land at 4:50 PM at Terminal 1, and I should catch a New York to Denver flight at 7:00 PM in Terminal 2. Do I have enough time to make it? I am not an US citizen so that means I will have to go through customs and immigration, and if JFK is full.... It will be Thursday afternoon when I land, if that makes a difference... I am using two different companies, the first being Turkish Airlines and the second Delta Airlines.... What should I do in case I miss my flight? From what I could see, the Turkish planes landed on average around 5:15 PM the last couple of days...

That leaves you enough time. if you purchased your tickets separately you will have to take your bags with you to your departure terminal. Note that Delta domestic flights can leave from Terminal 2 or 4. Check Delta.com on the day of your flight. If you miss your flight you will be stuck in New York overnight.

Thank you very much! Delta should put me on the next flight at no expense, if the fault is not mine, right? Or I should be paying penalties for the missed flight?

If you purchased your tickets on the same itinerary they will put you on the next available flight. If you purchased two separate tickets they will likely be less accommodating.

  • Is 1.5 hours enough time to between flights from Brazil to RDU

The flight I'm looking at will arrive from Brazil (GRU) on a Saturday at 06:29 AM. I will need to collect my bags, get through customs and catch a flight to RDU at 08:07 AM. The Airline is American - in on a 777 and out on a Embraer ERJ-140.

Yes, that should be enough time but leaves no time to spare for delays.

Thanks for the feedback. Based on your experience, do you think there will be delays at 6:29 AM on a Saturday morning (i know there are a lot of variables, but would like your gut feel). Is this a risk you would take?

Generally flights from Brazil run fairly on-time because the aircraft spend all day waiting in Brazil and there is no congestion in the US that early in the morning.

Yes, that should be enough time.

Hi, I reach Terminal 4 (Domestically) and have 1.5hr to go to Terminal 1 to take an overseas flight. Is it enough time? And what s the fastest way??

If both tickets were purchased together on one reservation, yes that should be enough time. The only route from T4 to T1 is to take the AirTrain. You will have to go through security in T1.

No, tickets are seperate. However I'm traveling business class; so in theory is 1.5hrs enough to collect my bags, use the airtrain and check in in T1??

It's possible, but it absolutely depends on that first flight being on-time and your bags coming out quickly. You only have 30 minutes get off the plane, collect your bags, change terminals, and get to the check in counter. I personally would not have booked that connection.

Hi, I will be arriving to JFK at 20:10 via Cathay Pacific international flight (T7) and planning to book another domestic departure 22:50 through JetBlue (T5). Read that it requires customs clear. So no check in baggage and also about to purchase jetblue even more speed to reduce TSA security check time. Is it enough time for connection? Thank you.

Yes, without checked baggage I think this would certainly be possible. Check in online for your JetBlue flight before leaving Hong Kong to save more time.

arriving into JFK with Cathay Pacific into Terminal 4 After picking up my luggage, how to I get from Terminal 4 to Delta Airlines at Terminal 7?

You have your terminals backwards. Cathay arrives in Terminal 7 and Delta uses Terminal 2 and 4. Regardless, all terminals are connected outside security by the AirTrain.

when i arrive to Terminal five at JFK, where do i find airtran to get to terminal one?

Just follow signs pointing to the airtrain and other terminal numbers, it will be fairly obvious.

Hi, I am flying from Orlando Int. airport in April to London via JFK. I have a 1hr and 22 mins layover at JFK. Flight arrives at JFK at 21.03 (T8) and departs to London at 22:25 (T8). I purhcased my tickets at the same time (under same reservation no) and both flights are with American Airlines. Is this enough time to make the connection? Also do I need to claim and re-check my luggage at JFK? Do I have to co security at JFK? Thanks.

All you have to do in JFK is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You do not go through US Immigration when leaving the US.

So, my luggage is transferred automatically by the airline from Orlando flight to London flight. I don't know how big is terminal 8 but I'm guessing 1 hr 22 mins is plenty of time? Thanks, Lis

Terminal 8 isn't that big. While JFK is a big airport each terminal is fairly small. Yes, you should have plenty of time and yes your baggage is transferred automatically.

    Thank you.

We will be flying PHX - JFK on USAIRWAYS arriving at 5:07 pm. We have a separate ticket (purchased on sale) from JFK to LIN on BA which leaves at 8:40 pm the same day. While this is a codeshare flight, we will have to re check our bags since the tix were purchased separately. Is this enough time to make the connection?

You can show your BA confirmation to the US Airways agent in PHX and ask if they can check your bags through to LIN, but they are not obligated to. You should have plenty of time to make your connection even if the bags are not checked through.

Thank you very much for the quick reply!

i am flying from TPA and arrive at JFK terminal 5 at 11:13am and have a connection flight in terminal 1 at 12:50 to IST. will 1 hr 3m Layover be enough time? Thanks

Purchased on a single reservation its possible. You will have to take the AirTrain from T5 to T1 and go through security. Purchased on two separate tickets would be difficult if not impossible.
