Hi, i will connect in JfK T4 from europe to Canada with Delta end to end on same ticket. Do i have to pick luggage and clear customs or i can go directly to my gate without entering united states ?

Upon arrival in T4 you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the transfer desk, go to the departure level, through security and to your departure gate.

Is a 2hr10min international transfer possible? May 10, 2015 0 Hi all, I'll be landing at terminal 1 at 18:20 (from Japan) and departing at 20:30 from terminal 8 (to Brazil). My flights were all booked with Japan Air Line but the flight to Brazil is a codeshare operated by TAM. Usually 2 hours is enough time for international transfers but since I need to re check my luggage in JFK I'm concerned! Considering I need to clear immigration, collect my luggage, re check my luggage, then transit from T1-T8 on the skytrain... do I have any chance of making this connection? Many thanks in advance for any advice or info! Lee

Yes, this is possible, but it does depend on your flight from Japan being on-time.

Thanks so much for the fast response, thats a reassurance! I'm going to try to travel without a checked suitcase if possible to save a little time. I understand that JFK has some sort of express connections system for the immigration queue, but I can't find anything regarding how I can arrange it. Is that just something I ask for upon arrival? Regards, Lee

    You shouldn't need it.

  • Connection T4 to T4 - Only one hour !

Hello, I'm arriving from Montreal to T4 at 6:23 PM (Delta) and have to take a other international flight to Brussels (Delta again) at 7:30 PM at the same terminal. Only 1 hour, can I make it ? Thanks for yours answers.

Yes, that should be plenty of time if your first flight is on-time. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Montreal. All you have to do in JFK is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

Thanks for your answer. I didn't know about this precheck system. Thanks Yes my first flight have to be on time. But if you think that I can make it easily, what's your opinion about the transfert of the luggages? Do you know if this take time to transfert them from one plane to another ? One hour will be sufficient too? Thank you again

You take the AirTrain between Terminals. You have enough time.

Hi I will arrive from St Lucia at 8:19pm flying on JetBlue on terminal 5 on a Saturday and I will have to get a flight to London departing at 9:50pm from terminal 7. Although I bought separated tickets, I should be able to check my luggage at st Lucia all the way to London thanks to an inter line agreement. Is the time enough to make it? Do I still need to get my luggage back to go through customs?

You will still have to claim your luggage in JFK to go through US Customs, then re-check it at the transfer desk. You should have barely enough time.

arriving at terminal 4 (from Denver, Delta) at 16;30 and hv connecting flight at terminal 1 (Paris, Air France) at 18.25. Do I have sufficient time between 2 connections?

Yes, that should be plenty of time. Assuming you purchased your tickets together all you have to do is take the AirTrain from T4 to T1 and go through security.

Thank you very much for your answer.. this is a valid connection for air france. In case if I miss the connecting flight to france, then the airline will make arrangement for my journey.. it it right? (i am 1st time traveller)...

  • Connection terminal 5 to terminal 8

First time at JFK. Is a 1 hour layover enough time to make a connection from T5 arrival on Hawaiian to T8 departure on American Eagle? This would be at Monday 6:00am arrival at T5.

Purchasing separate tickets? With checked bags that would be impossible. Without checked bags it would be very difficult but not impossible.

first time fliers,,,,arriving via Dubai to JFK through Emirates (T4) and connecting to Charlotte(T5) Jet blue ...Connecting Time between flights is 2hr 45 min...Is this time enough....and Where would be the immigration and customs....

Upon arrival in JFK you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs. If you purchased your tickets on one reservation and your bags are tagged through to CLT, you can then re-check them at the transfer desk, otherwise you will have to bring them with you to T5 on the AirTrain. Then you will re-check your bags if you haven't already and get your Jetblue boarding pass if you don't already have it, then go through security and to your departure gate. You should have enough time.

Thanks a ton...I appreciate your quick reply...

Where is the baggage transfer desk located? Inside the cudtoms hall or after you exit the customs hall?

After they exit the customs hall......opposite to welcome center....

Dear SSS Thanks for the information

I am a first time flyer, I have a flight from Raleigh to New York arriving at Terminal 5 on 09: 23 PM and flight to Dubai from Terminal 4 at 11:00 PM (tickets booked together). Is this sufficient time for change. What all the services I can use for the transit. First time flyer, anything that I should know beforehand to make it smooth transit.

Yes, that should be enough time. Your bags should be checked through to your final destination and you should be issued all boarding passes in Raleigh. All you have to do in JFK is take the AirTrain from Terminal 5 to Terminal 4 and go through security.

Arriving 21.06 PM at Terminal 4 and have to catch Delta to Paris from Terminal 1 at 23.15. Is it sufficient time to catch the flight to Paris.

Delta does not use Terminal 1. Is it an Air France flight? Anyway, you should have enough time assuming your tickets were purchased together.

Hi. I will be arriving in JFK Terminal 5 on a JetBlue flight from Barbados. Flight arrives at 8pm. I have a departing flight on Emirates from Terminal 4 at 11pm. Flights are booked on two separate tickets, and I will have checked in online for the Emirates flight. I have one checked bag, and two children. Do you think this is enough time for the transfer? Thanks in advance for your help.

Yes, that should be enough time assuming your flight from Barbados is on-time.

I am traveling from Amsterdam to San Diego, connecting flight would be at JFK. I will reach at terminal 4 and next flight is from terminal 1. I will have 1.5 hours. Is this time enough for immigration, re-checking the bags, and transfer time to terminal 4 to 1. Will I have to take the train and go through security check-in again.

No flights from JFK to San Diego leave from Terminal 1. Perhaps you have your terminals reversed? Yes, if you have to change terminals you have to take the train and go through security again. As an International Arrival connection you will have to go through security in JFK even if your flights are in the same terminal.

Sorry, You are right, I need to transfer from terminal 4 to Terminal 2 (Delta). Would 1.5 hours be enough to go through everything

Yes, 1.5 hours is enough time if everything goes smoothly. Also note that most Delta flights leave from Terminal 4, although some do leave from Terminal 2.

If i book an early morning flight from YHZ to JFK and have 50 min. connection time to TPA on Delta. No checked baggage. Is that enough time if flight from YHZ on time? Would be early next Jan.

Yes, that should be enough time. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Halifax. you will likely arrive in Terminal 4. You could depart from Terminal 2 or 4. if you depart from Terminal 2, delta runs a shuttle inside security.
