I am flying from Iceland to JFK and then to Austin, Texas.
I arrive at terminal 7 in JFK at 7pm. My flight from JFK to Austin departs from terminal 5 at 9:25pm. If I check my bag will I have to exit the terminal to get my bag and go through security to enter terminal 5?
Yes, you will have to claim your bags to go through US Customs and will be outside security when you clear US Customs. You should have enough time for your transfer if the flight from Iceland is on-time.
How much time should I calculate (Hand Luggage only - no checked luggage) to connect in JFK coming from Montreal on American Airlines and leaving on Air Berlin (same Terminal 8 I believe?). Thanks a lot ! To be more precise: arrival at JFK at 19:32 and departure (Air Berlin) at 21:40 is OK with printed boarding passes ?
If both flights are on the same reservation that is enough time. you will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Montreal, so all you have to do in JFK is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.
just for clarification: clearing US Immigration and Customs in Montreal is only possibly if both flight are under same reservation number ? If separate tickets I have to clear customs at JKF ? Then 2 hours is not enough ? Thanks a lot.
Everyone pre-clears US Immigration and Customs in Montreal. If you have separate tickets it just means you'll have to check in at JFK if you aren't able to check in online.
I have boarding passes for all flights, no need to check in cause I will travel with hand luggage only. Would 2 hours be enough to connect at JFK (coming from Montreal with AA and leave with Air Berlin - same terminal 8). ? Thanks a lot
Hi, I wish to know how much time I should calculate to connect in JFK arriving from Germany on Air Berlin (T8 , I believe) and connect to Montreal (on Delta - Terminal 4). Do I need to clear US customs ? Hand Luggage only. Thanks a lot.
Yes, you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, take your bags with you to Terminal 4 on the AirTrain, re-check them with Delta, and go through security. You need at least 3 hours.
does the fact that I will travel with Hand Luggage only (no checked luggage) shorten the 3 hours ? Thanks a lot
It helps a little bit. But I'd still want close to 3 hours.
Hi, I am going to fly from Beijing to Savannah via JFK terminal 8, the second part is departing from terminal 5. I got about 2 hours and a half in between, do I have enough time to reclaim luggage, go through custom, go to another terminal and recheck again? (The first flight would land at 1:10 pm and the second would depart at 15:47.
Yes, that should be enough time if everything goes smoothly.
I am traveling from London to Las Vegas via JFK. The airlines is British airways for both the flights. The arrival (London to JFK) and departure (JFK to Las Vegas) are terminal (T-8) and have 3 hours between connection. My question is , do i need to check in my baggage at JFK again (pick my baggage at JFK and go through customs and check in my baggage again) or it will be direct checkin to Las Vegas?
Both flights will be on American if they're both in T8. Yes, in JFK you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk and go through security.
Hello all, I will fly from Dublin to Boston with Delta via JFK. I have 1 hour 4 mins from landing at JFK to the next plane taking off for Boston. I will have one piece of hold luggage. Is this enough time? Thanks for any help
Yes, that is enough time. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Dublin. All you have to do in JFK is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. If you depart from Terminal 2, Delta runs a shuttle there inside security.
