I am trying to book a flight between Mexico and St Martin's and one of the options is 2 flights, both on Delta, that connect via JFK. Should I factor in the time to go through customs when arriving from Mexico or can I avoid the time needed for customs since I will be jumping on a connecting international flight? Thank you
You will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through security and to your departure gate. You need at least 2.5 hours
A am flying on 3rd June from Las Vegas on Delta to JFK (scheduled arrival 14:26) and than on Austrian Airlines from JFK to Vienna (scheduled departure 17:40), which leaves me 3 hours connection time on JFK. Do you think it is enough? The flights are booked separately (on two tickets). Thank you.
Yes, that should be enough time if everything goes smoothly.
I'm flying an international flight with South American Airways to JFK at 8:00 AM and have a second reservation with Delta at 11 am leaving JFK for Seattle. Is this enough time to go through customs, re-check bags, etc? I have global entry so hoping that helps but I'm not familiar with JFK airport.
There's no such thing as South American Airways. Do you mean South African? That should be enough time.
Shoot, yes South African - sorry! And thank you very much for your response.
I am flying from Buffalo on Delta to JFK and then onward with Virgin to Heathrow (single flights booked through Virgin). Delta have changed my flight on 12 May so I am landing in JFK with one hour to connect with my Virgin flight home. Is that going to be enough time for baggage transfer etc?
Yes, that should be enough time. All you have to do in JFK is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate which should both be in Terminal 4.
In August of this year we are flying from LHR into JKF flight AA105 and then have a 2 hour connection time before flight AA1120 to Orlando , all this be enough? It's a special family holiday and I don't want to be spending all my time worrying on the flight over if we are going to make it!!! Thank you.
Yes, that is enough time if everything goes smoothly.
I have separate tix on Delta arriving T4 at 17:30 and Aeroflot departing T1 at 19:30. Planning not to check bags. I know this is tight if I leave security. Is it possible to get Delta's SkyTeam to check me in to Aeroflot flight so I can use the shuttle and stay within security? T1 has no TSA pre and last time I was there it was a good 30-35 minutes wait.
You have to leave security. There is no shuttle from T4 to T1 inside security.
Looking at booking an AirFrance flight to Halifax (YHZ), via JFK. No info on booking about which terminals, but past flights to Halifax seem to leave from T2 or 4, and the AF flights lands at T1? The connection is only two hours, which I'm guessing isn't likely based on other responses on this board. I'm Canadian, though, so US customs/security isn't usually a problem, but my flight originates in Istanbul, so who knows anymore? Thoughts? Thanks!
Air France does not fly from Halifax to JFK. That flight will be on Delta and depart from Terminal 4. Yes, Actual Air France flights from Paris arrive in Terminal 1. 2 hours is enough time if everything goes smoothly.
Thanks for your response!
That's right, it's in the other direction, and a codeshare with Delta.
Last time I flew via the US to Canada from Istanbul, I was "randomly" selected for advanced security screening (the guy doing it later admitted it was just because my flight originated in Turkey), so wondered if anyone had any similar experiences coming through JFK?
