  • Arriving JFK on Chinese Eastern

I will be arriving on Chinese Eastern at 2:15 pm and have a connecting flight on Jet Blue at 5:20. Is this plenty of time?

It should be enough time. You will probably have to take your bags with you on the Airline Terminals Train/AirTrain from Terminal 1 to Terminal 5 where JetBlue departs.

I am taking a Delta flight from Boston to JFK. I may have to claim my luggage and then check it in for a Delta/KLM international flight to Amsterdam. What is the easiest and fastest way to do this?

Did you buy your two flights on the same reservation? If not you will not have to claim your baggage and re-check, Delta should transfer it for you. Your flight to Amsterdam will depart from Terminal 4, if you arrive in Terminal 2 from Boston, Delta runs a shuttle bus between the two terminals.

how to get from terminal 2 to terminal 1 to Aeroflot airlines

The Airline Terminals Train/Airtrain that runs outside security. Budget around 45 minutes to make your connection. I assume you're coming in on a domestic Delta Connection flight?

  • transit time at 8 pm?

Hi, I'm arriving at JFK from Heathrow on American (travel originating Tel Aviv) at 8 pm on a weekday evening w/three kids. Can we make it from there to a Jet Blue flight to Boston at 11 pm? Will we be switching terminals and what does that entail? Will the procedure be: exit plane, collect luggage, clear immigration and customs, go to Jet Blue and recheck luggage, or is there a way to drop off my luggage right after clearing customs? Thanks for your help!

Yes, you have the procedure correct. You will take the Airline Terminals Train/AirTrain from Terminal 8 to Terminal 5.

  • Terminal 7 to Terminal 4

I am flying from IAD to JFK on United, arriving in Terminal 7 at 7:00 pm. On a separate ticket, I am flying standby on KLM to Amsterdam from Terminal 4. I am aiming for the 8:12 pm departure. Do I have time to make that connection? My plan is to have only carry-on luggage.

Unless you travel on weekend, 7am is rush hour at airports. Even with only carry-on luggage, you need to (a) take the 'Airline Terminal Train' running on average every 8 mins. to your connecting terminal (next stop T5, T4); then go through security check (which can take up to an hour these days) - not to mention that your incoming flight may be late. T4 has Concourses A & B with corresponding gates; each of which has its own security checkpoint.

He's traveling at 7 PM. However, I still think that's a very risky connection as there's a good chance your inbound flight will be delayed.

Thank you for your reply. I thought it might be rather tight. I will continue looking for other options.

  • How to go from Terminal 3 to 8

I flying from Orlando will land in JFK @ 9:30 and Emirates @ 11:00. How to get to Terminal 3 and will that be enough time

Terminal 3 is closed. If you are on Delta, your flight from Orlando will arrive in Terminal 4. Emirates operates from Terminal 4 as well, not Terminal 8. Were your tickets bought on one reservation - if so you can check your bags through and you will have enough time. If not I think it might be tough for you to claim your bags and re-check them with Emirates in enough time.

  • Internat Transfer AA Madrid to Toronto

We are arriving at JFK on AA with 2 hours to board a connecting flight on AA to Toronto. I understand we will have to take our hold luggage through customs. Will we also have to go through passport control and airport security again before going to our Toronto flight? How straight forward is this as we will not actually be entering the States?

You will be entering the US just like every other passenger. US Airports don't have special "transfer" wings. As such you will go through full US immigration inspection, then re-check your bags, then go upstairs to go through security for your flight to Toronto.

Thanks for that. Very helpful. See that the US still hasn't noticed that strange place called the rest of the world yet :-) Thanks again

I'm flying on Delta from Copenhagen to JFK then on to New Orleans with my 3 year old and 3 month old. I've never been through JFK and am nervous about a few things: 1. whether or not the airline will give me my stroller back at the gate and 2. can someone help me with claiming and rechecking my bags at customs? 3. how difficult is it to get from our arrival terminal to our connecting flight? Is it a bus? Train? We have a 5 hour layover so plenty of time, but I like to know what to expect. And any suggestions for kid play areas or things to do during our layover? Thanks!!

You will arrive and depart in the same terminal (Terminal 4). They will probably give you your stroller back at the gate. What kind of help do you need claiming your bags? There usually aren't baggage porters working in immigration due to the difficulty of working there.

Thanks, ZAP! I usually fly through ATL and go through customs/immigration there. I have to physically get my luggage off the belt and take it through to the area where you drop off your luggage for your connecting flight. Since I'll have a stroller, I won't be able to also pull/push a cart with 2 suitcases nor will I be able to pull them myself. In ATL they have helpers, just wondering about JFK. Thanks!

  • AA transit within Terminal 8

will be transiting in terminal 8 arriving from LHR at 1:35pm connecting to Orlando departing 2:55pm. Both AA Flights. Will that be enough time for immigration and customs baggage re-check? Are there special lines for transfer passengers at immigration?

There are no lines for transfer passengers. It will be very tough for you to make your connection unless your flight arrives early. Unfortunately, in case you miss your connection AA does not have a later flight that day to Orlando from JFK. Perhaps they can rebook you through Miami or on another airline if that happens.

thanks ZAP for your quick answer. AA just changed the departure time of the onward flight to 30 Minutes earlier.

If you have no luggage except for carry on and you are coming intoTerminal 7 at 5:10 pm will you be able to make a flight leaving Terminal 4 at 6:20 pm?

If your first flight is domestic it's possible, but JFK is one of the most delay-prone airports in the country and your proposed connection is at a peak time. I would advise against trying it. If your first flight is international, no chance.

On arrival at JFK's Terminal 7, look for the 'Airline Terminals Train' sign which makes a continuous loop around the terminals, but when arriving at Terminal 4 you need to go first through security check before proceeding to your gate.

Hi - I'm flying in on KLM from amsterdam #630 @ 3:30 pm terminal 4 and then going onto boston via AA in terminal 8 @ 7:20 pm. Can I check my bag after immigration so I don't have to lug it on the train? thx!

It depends on whether your tickets were bought on the same reservation or not and whether your bag is checked through to BOS or not. KLM and AA do have an interline baggage agreement, but they probably won't check your bag through unless your tickets were bought on a single reservation.

  • Zurich via JFK to LAX

I'll fly on June, 14th to JFK, arriving at 12:30pm (Terminal 4 I think) with Swiss and have to connect the United flight to LAX at 03:00pm. Is this enough time to change planes even I'll have to clear immigration (I'm German citizen) and costums? What terminal United operates it's flights to LAX from? Thank you very much for your help.

You will arrive in Terminal 4 and your United flight will leave from Terminal 7. Take the Air Terminals Train between the terminals.

Thanks a lot. Is it possible to clear immigration and costum in 2:30h ?

Yes, you will probably have enough time, although that is the busiest time for immigration in T4.

I fly AER LINGUS from Dublin to JFK and then US AIRWAYS to PHX

Make sure to go through US customs clearance at Dublin! Your arrival is Terminal 4 (T4) and departure T7. Take the 'Air Terminals Train' (not the Airtrain) to T7, go through security check there, and and on to your gate. NOTE, however, that if Aer Lingus does not transfer your bags to US Airways, you need to claim your bags at T4 and check them in with US Airways at T7.

  • transportation between terminals??

I've been reading some comments/questions and have searched a bit but couldn't find the section on transportation between terminals? If I arrive at one terminal on American and have to get to another terminal to fly on El Al to Tel Aviv what are the options?

El Al operates from Terminal 4 and AA from Terminal 8. To get between them take the JFK Airtrain which runs outside security.

Hi,Departing Boston airport arriving JFK TERM 4 on flight AF 2741 at 814 pm. Onward connection to Dublin Terminal 4 departure at 9 29 pm on AF 3657. both flights operated by delta airlines. Have I enough time to make connection ??. I presume as all booked on same ticket hold luggage will be transferred straight through from Boston to Dublin and I won't need to collect and check in again. Thanks for your advice on this

Note that your boston flight may arrive in Terminal 2, in which case you would have to take the Delta shuttle bus from Terminal 2 to Terminal 4. Yes, you won't have to do anything with your baggage. Even if you have to take the shuttle you should have enough time if your first flight is on-time.
