  • JFK Jitney T2-T4
    Dec 10, 2014
I am going to be flying through JFK, and will connect from T2 to T4 using the Jitney. I am looking at an itinerary with a 50 min connection. Will this be enough time? Aprox. how long does Jitney take now that T3 is closed? Thanks!

That should be enough time. The Jitney takes about 10-15 minutes.

    Thanks ZAP, appreciate the help!

  • Emirates to Jet Blue connection
    Dec 10, 2014
Hey dear sirs! If I'm flying with a WHOLE ticket by Emirates with a connection in JFK on the destination to Dominican Republic. If I'm not mistaken, I will arrive at JFK T4, and depart from JFK T5 (as the flight to Dominican is operated by Jet Blue, but again, it's a part of Emirates ticket). Will I have go through the passport control and customs, or there is a transit zone between this two terminals?????

Yes, you will arrive in T4, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the transfer desk, then take the AirTrain to T5, get your JetBlue boarding pass if you don't already have it, and then go through security and to your departure gate. All international arrivals in the US must go through US Immigration, even if they are continuing on elsewhere.

Do I need to have US visa for that?

It depends on your citizenship. If you are a citizen of a Visa Waiver country you will need to complete ESTA, if you are not a Visa Waiver citizen, you will need a US Transit Visa.

  • Moscow SVO - New Yourk JFK - Toronto YYZ
    Dec 9, 2014
I'm arriving to JFK 20 Dec 2014 with DELTA DL 1012 from Moscow (SVO) to New York (JFK). Then I'm going to Toronto 20 Dec 2014 with DELTA DL 2988 from New York (JFK) to Toronto (YYZ) . What terminal do am I arriving at JFK? What terminal do I need at JFK to go to get to YYZ?

You will arrive in Terminal 4, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the transfer desk, then take the AirTrain to Terminal 2, go through security and to your departure gate. You will need a US Transit visa if you are a Russian citizen.

  • Connection at JFK from London, UK to Toronto, Canada
    Dec 8, 2014
I have a flight from London to Toronto with a connection at JFK. I arrive at T4 and depart from T2. I bought my tickets together as one. Will I need to go through security/collect my bags and re-check them, or will they be automatically transferred because I bought my tickets as one? Flying the same route back to the UK. I only have an hour for that connection. Will that be enough time?

On your way to Toronto you will arrive in T4, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then re-check your bags at the transfer desk, then take the Airtrain to T2, go through security and to your departure gate. On your return, you will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto, so all you have to do in JFK is take the Delta shuttle bus from T2 to T4 and walk to your departure gate.

  • Is the time enough
    Dec 8, 2014
I have a separate ticket on jet blue from Orlando to JFK terminal 5 domestic then I have three hours only to go to terminal 4 to depart internationally to dubai on emirates airlines on separate ticket. We are four. I have only three hours to do so. I am not us citizen. Is the time enough

On arrival at JFK's Terminal 5 proceed to the Arrivals level & claim your bags, then follow signs to the 'Airline Terminals Train', board the train with your bags, and get off at next stop which is T4. There proceed to the Departure level & check in your bags, go through security check and on to your connecting gate. T4 has Concourses A (gates A3, A5 & Concourse B (gates B20-41.

3 hours is plenty of time for your transfer.

Thanks. So I presume 3 hours are adequate

  • Question
    Dec 7, 2014
Hello, Flying Aeroflot from Moscow to Tampa through NY/JFK. The flight arrives to Terminal 1 at 12.30 pm and next flight to Tampa is at 2.46 pm in Terminal4/Delta. I bought the flights together and was told that Aeroflot and Delta are in alliance. Do you think I'll have enough time?

You have enough time for transfer. On arrival at JFK, you need to go through passport check, retrieve checked bags, go through customs clearance and re-check-in yoour bag where indicated. Then look for the 'Airline Terminals Train' sign and board the train, which runs counter-clockwise within the unsecured areas of JFK's terminals. Your next stops will be T8, T7, T5 & T4 - on arrival at T4, go through security check and proceed to your the Concourse level with A & B gates.

Also be sure to check the monitors, your flight to Tampa may depart from Terminal 2. Delta domestic flights use both 2 and 4.

  • need to go thru security again if going from domestic to international
    Dec 6, 2014
I'm coming from Seattle to JFK to Curasao and wondering if you need to go through security again because I come in on a domestic flight and out on international. I only have 2 hours - is that crazy? Thanks!

It depends what airline you are flying. If both flights are on Jetblue you do not have to go through security and have plenty of time. If it's another airline, let me know and I can tell you.

Id be coming in on Delta and going to Jet Blue for the Curacao leg - thanks so much!!

Then you will have to transfer your bags yourself from Terminal 4 where you will arrive to the JetBlue check-in counter in Terminal 5, get your JetBlue boarding pass if you don't already have it and then go through security. You should still have enough time.

  • Connecting Flights - customs - luggate
    Dec 2, 2014
I am US citizen arriving from UK via Virgin Atlantic at 7pm Dec 10. I need to book a Jet Blue flight to get to Boston. Where do I go through customs? Do I get my bags at the claim and bring them over to Jet Blue for my next flight or will they be sent over if I tell Virgin when I check in? Also, how long should I allow in between flights? I haven't booked the Boston flight yet.

You will go through US Immigration and Customs in JFK. You will have to take the baggage with you on the AirTrain to Terminal 5 to check with JetBlue. I would not book a flight to Boston earlier than 9:30 PM.

If I book the JetBlue 11pm flight and I finish immigrations/customs earlier, can I possibly go on the 9:00 flight. There are only 9pm and 11pm flights to Boston.

Yes, Jetblue offers same day flight changes and free standby for an earlier flight.

  • Transfer from T2 to T4 at jfk
    Dec 2, 2014
I am leaving for India from St.loius via jfk and Amsterdam. I have one hour and 15 minutes to go to terminal 4 from terminal 2 to catch the flight to Amsterdam. Is this enough and how to get into terminal 4 without security check.

Delta runs a shuttle bus inside security between Terminal 2 and Terminal 4.

Thanks. Could you please also advise the frequency of this shuttle and whether I could manage to take the flight within an hour and 15 minutes from terminal 4.

The shuttle runs almost constantly. Yes, 1 hr 15 mins is sufficient transfer time.

    Thanks again

  • Connection: Terminal 8 to Terminal 1 JFK
    Dec 1, 2014
Help Needed :) We fly into JFK on AA (Dec 12th) at Gate 40 Terminal 8 at 7:50pm. We need to be at Terminal 1 for our Norwegian Air flight that leaves at 10:30pm. Do you think we have enough time to get there? THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP!!!

Yes, you have enough time if your AA flight is on-time. However if your AA flight is delayed and you miss your connection, don't expect Norwegian to be very forgiving.

Great to know! Thank you so much for your insight and fingers crossed the flight is on time :)

  • Tranferring from Terminal 5 to Terminal 4 in 1 hour
    Nov 30, 2014
Hi, I just wanted to know if this is enough time. This is a transfer, and I dont have to worry about checking bags or anything. I just have to deplane, change terminals, and presumably go through security. I am connecting from Jetblue to Emirates. Thanks a lot for your advice.

It should be enough time but it doesn't leave much to spare.

  • Flying from Dubai to Toronto connecting at JFK
    Nov 30, 2014
I'll be flying in with Emirates at T4 and connecting to fly to Toronto with Delta. I have luggage to be checked and 2 hours between my flights. Will I have enough time? Also will I be flying out of Delta's international terminal in T4?

On arrival at JFK you will need to go through passport check, pick up bags, go through customs clearance & re-check-in your bags where indicated. If you bought your 2 flights on one ticket your bags will automatically be transferred. If not,you will need to go to the Delta counter at T4 on the Departures level & check in your bags, before proceeding to your gate. Either way you have enough transfer time.

You flight to Toronto will likely leave from Terminal 2, as all Delta Connection flights depart from there. However, you can still check your bag at T4 if necessary, then go through security and take the shuttle bus to T2.

  • montreal to kjf to sao paulo
    Nov 30, 2014
Hi Zap, i have a flight from Montréal to JFK operated by CHAUTAUQUA DBA DELTA CONNECTION, arrival JFK terminal 2 @ 5:58pm, my connection flight is in terminal 4, going to Sao Paulo (Brazil) with Delta departure @ 8:07pm. Do I have enough connection time? do i need to recheck my baggage and pass security? What would be your advise to get to terminal 4 faster. thanks for your help

Go through U.S. Customs clearance at Montreal AP; you arrive at JFK - Delta's domestic T2 - take Delta's shuttle bus gate-to-gate to Terminal 4. No need to go through security check. Bags will be automatically transferred.

Just take the shuttle bus from T2 to T4, you have plenty of time. Yes, you will pre-clear US Immigration in Montreal and won't have to do anything with your bags in New York on your way to Brazil.
