Hello, I have the following trip booked: - DCA to JFK American Airlines arriving at 19:00 - JFK to SCL (Santiago Chile) Lan Airlines departing at 20:00 Do I need to go through security again to take my connection? I'm assuming if yes, then I don't have enough time to make it. Any insights on that? Thanks!

Both flights are in Terminal 8. All you have to do in JFK is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have enough time.

    Awesome! Thanks a lot!

  • International to Domestic Connection DUB/JFK/LAX

I will be flying DUB to JFK to LAX all on Delta airlines, same ticket. They are giving me 1 hour, 36 minutes between flights. Is this even enough connection time.....as long as my flights are on time and I don't stop to eat or dawdle?

Yes, that is plenty of time. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Dublin. All you have to do in JFK is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, both in Terminal 4.

  • Connecting from New York to Florida

We are flying from Birmingham UK to New York via American Airlines arriving 2hrs 15mins before making a connection still with American Airlines to Florida, all on one ticket, will the 2hrs 15 mins be enough to connect and will we have to go through security/customs and also get luggage and re check in?

Yes, that should be enough time.

Long shot here: any special accommodations JFK makes if I have a 45 min layover? I land at 10pm from Stockholm on Norwegian Air Shuttle and leave on Jet Blue for Portland Me at 1045?

That connection is impossible. Do not book that. With that late arrival you will have to spend the night in NY and fly out in the morning.

That connection time is way too short.

  • Connecting international to domestic flight

Hi everyone, i'm flying into JFK International landing at 4:40pm and hoping to get my bags out and through customs to catch a domestic 6:30pm flight on Delta. I'll need to switch 2 flights. Is this enough time? Are the terminals close?

What airline are you flying to JFK? Every terminal at JFK except T2 handles international arrivals. Are both tickets on the same reservation or two separate reservations?

Hi Zap, 2 bookings with different airlines. Firstly Qantas then Delta for domestic

The Qantas flight to JFK clears US Immigration and Customs in LAX. You will just arrive in Terminal 7, claim your bags, take the AirTrain to your departure terminal (either 2 or 4), re-check your bags, and go through security. It is possible, but it doesn't leave much time to spare.

I am travelling with my five year old son from DXB to RDU via JFK. Landing at 850am on Emirates 203.I need go through Immigration and Customs at JFK and catch my flight to RDU at 12:15. I want to know whether i will get some help in clearing customs as I would have having four suitcases and two carry on luggages and manage my son as well.

There will be free luggage carts in the international baggage claim hall. You can use those to carry your bags through customs and to the re-check desk.

Thank you so much for quick response. Will I get some assistance in moving the bags as I need to move four big large suitcases along with two carryons using those carts. I am sure I cannot fit in all six in one cart. Will I be able to ?

It depends how big your bags are. There are no people there to assist. It's generally not a good idea to travel with more baggage than you are capable of moving yourself.

  • PIT to JFK

Is a 50-minute connection time enough for the following flight: PIT-JFK with Delta arrives 7:25am and then JFK-LHR with Virgin Atlantic departs 8:15am. Flights will be on the same ticket.

Yes, that should be enough time if the flight from PIT is on-time. Both flights should be in Terminal 4.

Flight from Athens arriving at JFK 16:30 (Delta airlines) and then taking a flight from JFK to San Diego at 20:10 (with Delta) is that possible? I want to book 2 separate flights...

Yes, that should be possible. Both flights should be in Terminal 4 at JFK.

    Thank you very much!

  • Connection time between flights

Hi, I´m looking at booking a flight booked for my family in July with Delta arriving from MCO and continuing on to Iceland. Transit time between the flights is 1 hour. Both flights are in Terminal 4. Is that going to be enough time for us? We would check our bags in at MCO to Iceland.

Yes, that should be enough time as long as the flight from Orlando is on-time.

  • do i need to go through security again

Domestic delta flight into JFK, then flying Alitalia to Rome. Once I land with Delta, do I need to leave the terminal area and go through security again at International? My connection time is tight and security could kill it. Thanks.

If your flight to Italy is operated by Alitalia, yes, you will have to take the AirTrain to Terminal 1 and go through security.

  • Will an 1:47 layover be enough time to get through customs

My plane lands at 4:40 PM on a Saturday. Connecting flight is at 6:25. Airline is Delta. Do I have enough time to get through customs and to my connection or should I change one of my flights?

What airline are you flying to JFK? Where are you coming from? Are your tickets on two separate reservations or one reservation? You didn't provide enough information to answer your question.

I arrive domesticall from Washington into JFK with checked baggage at 7pm and then have to change terminals and check in for a flight to Germany at 8.55pm. Do you think I can make it??

    They're on two separate tickets.

What airlines are you flying? I wouldn't recommend this based on the information I have.

I am arriving on Jet Blue at T-5 at 9:30pm and scheduled to depart to Lima on LAN airlines T-8 at 11:45.Will we have to go thru security again at T-8 and will we have enough time to make the connection?

Yes, you will have to go through security again in T8. If you have checked bags and these are on two separate reservations this will be a difficult connection.
