H! I I'm Travelling from US to Philippines and Ill be checking in in Fayetteville Regional Airport via US airways and will transfer to Asiana Airlines at JFK bound to South Korea.. I have 2 concerns, If I check in in a Fayetteville Regional Airport , Do I have to get my luggage when I reach JFK and recheck it in again to Asiana Airlines? and My Layover time is 2 hours to transfer from US airways to Asiana Airlines in JFK will it enough? Please reply.

Did you purchase all your tickets together on one reservation or not? If you did then you won't have to claim your bags and you won't have to touch them until you get to the Philippines.

I purchased them all together. Ill be flying from Fayetteville, NC Regional Airport to Charlotte Intl Airport then To JFK via US airways then from there ,will be Asiana Airlines. How about the layover time from US aiway terminal to Asiana Arline terminal in JFK, is 2 hours enough ?Thanks for the reply by the way..

Yes, that should be enough time. You just have to take the AirTrain from Terminal 8 where you arrive to Terminal 4, get your Asiana boarding passes if you don't already have them, and then go through security. 2 hours should be plenty of time.

  • Terminal 4 and 1 Connection
    Nov 11, 2014
I have two separate flights booked. I have a Delta flight from New Orleans to JFK (Terminal 4) that arrives at 3:35PM and a Alitalia flight ("operated by Delta") to Milan (Terminal 1) that departs at 5:51PM. Is this enough time? Do I need to go through security again to get to Terminal 1? I will not be checking in a bag.

If your flight to Milan is operated by Delta it will not leave from Terminal 1, it will leave from Terminal 4. Your flight from New Orleans will likely arrive in Terminal 2. If your flight to Milan is indeed operated by Delta you can just take the Delta shuttle bus from T2 to T4 inside security after arrival in JFK. Be sure to check in online for both flights before leaving New Orleans.

Thanks for your help! I just checked online and I'll be arriving at Terminal 4 and also departing from Terminal 4. Would I have to leave the terminal and go to the ticketing area in order to pick up my ticket though?

You don't have to go to the ticketing area if you check in online.

I'm traveling to London from LA via NY. Do I have to pic up bags in JFK and recheck them again?

No, you do not assuming you purchased your tickets together. You do not go through US Immigration or Customs when leaving the US.

  • T5 - T7
    Nov 8, 2014
Hi there I arrive from Grand Cayman at 17.00 into T5 with JetBlue on Monday 8 Dec. my onward flight is with BA from T7 at 19.20 that evening. I have checked baggage and the flights were booked separately. From reading the above I guess I should be ok (save for delays etc) but are there any suggestions to help remove possible stress / negate risk of missing onward flight? Thanks in advance

Nothing to recommend other than trying to sit as far forward on your JetBlue flight as possible. Also, the international gates at T5 are new and haven't opened yet, so it's not clear how well they will work. They open Nov 12.

  • Question Regarding Connection Flight
    Nov 13, 2014
We are scheduled to arrive at JFK from Dublin, IE, on Nov 20 via Delta. We only have about 90 minutes until our connection flight to Atlanta (also Delta) departs. Is this enough time? Will we need to claim and re-check our baggage? Will we need to go through immigration and customs from Ireland? We had a straight flight from Dublin to Atlanta but just received information regarding a Delta shedule change which resulted in a layover. There are no other straight flights.

There is US Immigration and customs preclearance in Dublin, so you will do all those procedures there. Your arrival into JFK will be like a domestic flight. You will only have to go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. Chances are you will arrive in Terminal 4 and depart from Terminal 2. There is a Delta shuttle bus inside security between the two terminals. You have enough time.

    Thank you.

Is it the same situation coming from Shannon to JFK? I'm looking at a 1.5 hr. layover connecting to Chicago.

  • Connections from SYR
    Nov 2, 2014
HI, I am flying in on JetBlue from SYR and landing at JFK at 7.15am. I then have a separate ticket to get to London at 8.30am. Is that enough time to collect my bags and then clear customs and then catch that flight please? Any advice appreciated. Thank you

It's really pushing it. It may be possible but will be extremely difficult and depends on your flight from Syracuse arriving on-time or early. You have a much better chance of making it if you don't check a bag.

  • Connecting flight from NY to SIN
    Nov 3, 2014
Hi, I will be arriving on JKF via delta 2444 on 8/11 sat 555pm. My next connecting flight is SQ 25 which departs at 825pm. Both are in T4. Will i have enough time to make it? What are the procedures involved and where should I go once I get out of DL 2444 ? Thanks !

If you arrive from an international flight, you need to go through passport control, pick up your bags and go through customs clearance. If you purchased your 2 flights on one ticket, you may proceed to your connecting gate, but need to go through security check first. If you did not purchase your flights on one ticket, you need to re-check-in your bags at the Singapore counter after customs clearance, as Delta & Singapore airlines belong to different Alliances. The concourse level of T4 is divided into gates A3 & A5 to the left, and gates B20-B41 to the right.

Ignore sunov's post. It is completely incorrect. I see that DL2444 is from Orlando. DL2444 usually arrive in Terminal 2. You will exit security and claim your bag, then take the AirTrain one stop to Terminal 4 and check your bags at the Singapore Airlines check-in counter. You should have plenty of time.

Thanks Zap! I heard that you need to walk outside of terminal 2 to reach the airtrain station, is that true? Is there a bridge or link way or something?

It's a bridge but it's not heated and is somewhat exposed to the elements.

  • connection time
    Nov 1, 2014
we are hoping to come in at 6 pm on JetBlue from Sint Martin and catch a flight at 8 pm to albuquerque NM. Is that enough time to clear customs and get through security?

It should be enough time. You will arrive in T4 and depart from T5, so you will have to take the AirTrain to T5 after you clear customs.

  • Does Jet blue have an agreement with Icelandic for transfer of luggage

Can my luggage be transferred from a Jet blue fight to Icelandic with out me having to pick it up between flights

Yes, if you purchased a single reservation and your JetBlue flight is domestic.

  • Connection time Delta domestic to Air France
    Nov 1, 2014
Daughter is heading for study abroad, LAX to Florence on Delta & Air France. Current itinerary has outbound 90 minute connection time at JFK from Delta domestic terminal 4 to Air France terminal 1 and then 1 hr 40 mins at CDG to Florence. Return has her with 2 hrs at JFK to clear customs and connect to LAX, changing from terminal 1 to 4. Will this be enough time on both sides? Delta tells me yes but I'm a worried mother.

Yes, that should be enough time. All she has to do in JFK on the way to France is to take the Airtrain from T4 to T1 and go through security. On the return she will have to go through US Immigration, claim her bags, go through US Customs, then re-check her bags then take the Airtrain to T4 and go through security. However, 2 hours should be enough time.

  • Security at JFK for international transfer - duty free
    Oct 31, 2014
Hi I am flying in JFK from Jamaica tomorrow afternoon with Delta to then transfer onto a London bound flight with Delta again. Could someone tell me the rules regarding duty free. I wish to take two bottles of rum with me from Jamaica but unsure whether this will cause issues in JFK when passing through security to catch my London flight. Thanks.

You will claim your baggage to go through US Customs, then, before you re-check your baggage you need to put the Rum in your checked bags. If you are not checking bags you won't be able to bring the Rum back with you.

  • Terminal 1 and 8
    Oct 30, 2014
I am flying from Charlotte,NC and have connecting via China Airline on terminal 8. How do I get to terminal 8 from terminal 1 without using the train. I have Parkinson's and riding train is hard for me.

You cannot get between those terminals without the train. If you need help riding the train, you can request wheelchair assistance from your airlines.

    Thank you

  • Separate itinerary connection
    Oct 29, 2014
Returning from Madrid on an American Airlines flight at 1:10PM and then we have a 2:59pm flight on Jet Blue. I believe we will have to recheck baggage as they don't have any sort of agreement. Is this doable or should I pay the extra $150 to change to a later flight?

It's makeable, It's tough though. I obviously wouldn't have booked it in the first place, but seeing as you have, i would probably try to make it rather than paying to rebook.

Will I be able to recheck the bag without going through security? The bags likely wont be tagged all the way to our final destination. Will I be able to do this after customs?

No, you cannot. When you clear customs you will be outside security and Terminal 8 and Terminal 5 are not connected inside security anyway. You will have to take the bags to the JetBlue counter in Terminal 5 to re-check them.

Thanks for your help. I pushed back the flight. The $120 was worth the peace of mind of not missing the flight and not having to run around an unfamiliar airport. Thanks again for sharing your expertise.

  • enough time?
    Oct 29, 2014
Hi, Im flying form London to JFK with AA on the 21th of November. We arrived in JFK at 1:40 pm. My connection flight is from JFK to San Juan, Puerto Rico. My AA flight is at 3.35 pm. Is this good on time? should i make it?

Yes, that should be enough time. You will arrive in Terminal 8, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then re-check your bags at the transfer desk, then go through security and to your departure gate which will also be in Terminal 8.

  • Priority for Business Class
    Oct 29, 2014
I've got an hour and 44 minutes to connect from my jetBlue flight from Orlando onto my Etihad flight to Abu Dhabi departing from terminal 4. I'll be flying Business Class on my Etihad flight. Is there any priority that is provided in JFK for business class passengers? and any fast track security?

Wow, that will be a very difficult connection. You should have priortity security in JFK by flying Business class. However, you'll still have to get from T5 where you arrive to T4, through security, and to your departure gate. You will also have to already have your Etihad boarding pass in-hand.

What do you think should I do? Can Etihad arrange for a ground staff in New York to get me through?

There's nothing they can do if your JetBlue flight is late other than book you on the flight the next day.
