  • T5 to T4 connection
    Sep 8, 2014
Hi, My friend and I are booked to fly from Orlando to New York on Jetblue and Onwards to Abu Dhabi and Mumbai on Etihad. Our JetBlue flight arrives in T5 and our Etihad flight departs from T4. We will be flying in December, and have a connecting time of 1h44 minutes in JFK. Do you think we can make it?

By the way, forgot to add that we will be receiving our onwards boarding pass at Orlando itself, and our bags will be checked in all the way through to Mumbai

hello i have a flight from Paris to New York and a connection to new Orléans . I Will arrive in T1 and i have to go to T2. I have 2 hours and i would like to Know if I have to go through customs or not (i have to go outside from t1 and go through customs or is it possible to stay inside terminal Hub ???? (T1 to T2) many thanks for your reply

You will arrive in T1, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then re-check your bags at the transfer desk, then you have to take the AirTrain from T1 to T2 and go through security and to your departure gate. You must go through US Customs and Immigration at your first landing point within the US.

  • T8 to T4 possible in 2 hours?
    Sep 8, 2014
I am being issued a ticket for a Friday morning with 2-hour time between flights. I will arrive in T8 on American and depart from T4 on Etihad. It is a codeshare flight, so I should have boarding passes in hand. Need to mention that I will be traveling with 2 infants and may need to wait at the gate to collect my strollers that I will be gate-checking. Can somebody with knowledge confirm if 2 hours is a sufficient transit time on a Friday morning?

Yes, that should be enough time, especially if your American flight is Domestic.

ZAP - Thanks for the assurance. Yes, the American flight is domestic. I will also try to remember and post my experience later so it helps others.

  • Picking up Luggage and going to a connecting flight
    Sep 8, 2014
I have a flight from ATL to JFK, and then I'm taking a international flight (booked as a separate itinerary). I probably won't be able to check my luggage for the whole trip. So do I have to go all the way out of the JFK airport in order to get to baggage claim, and then to re-check in by the international section? What's the quickest way to do this? (I have never been in JFK airport before, so I do not know the setup.)

Please look at the map. I can help you more if you let me know what airlines you're flying.

  • Connection Time
    Sep 8, 2014
Can we make it? Arriving from NAS with Delta at 20:51 and having the flight to Paris (AirFrance) at 23:20. We need to get thru border check and customs... but can we do it on time ? also, considering that tickets are separate can we check in directly luggage with delta in order to avoid luggage reclaim and recheck ? Than you

You will pre-clear US Immigration in Nassau. Delta does not check through baggage when you purchase separate tickets. You will have to claim it and take it to Air France to re-check. you should have enough time if your first flight is on-time.

  • Transfer from Terminal 4 to 5
    Sep 8, 2014
Hi All, I am travelling from Dubai to Orlando via JFK. I have only 2 hours lay over in JFK to connect JetBlue flight from JFK to Orlando. My Dubal to JFK flight arrives on Terminal 4. I have to go to terminal 5 to catch Jetblue flight. Do we have any quick line for to clear port of entry in JFK for visitiors?

You will not need a "quick line" you have plenty of time.

Do we have option of quick line in JFK?

There is no such line anyway.

  • Enough layover tine for international flight
    Sep 7, 2014
I am arriving from Burlington, VT at 7:59pm and have a flight to London leaving at 9:50pm; a layover of 1 hr 51 minutes. Arriving flight is Jetblue; departing flight is British Airways; no checked luggage. Is the 1hr51min enough time to make my connection.

It should be if your first flight is on-time. You will have to take the AirTrain from Terminal 5 to Terminal 7, get your BA Boarding pass if you don't already have it, and go through security.

  • 1hour39min for transfer
    Sep 7, 2014
I'm arriving on friday to T8 15:50 from HEL and taking a 17:29 flight to PWM from T5. Only carry-on luggage. Tickets are bought separately. Can I make it?

Yes, but it doesn't leave much room for and possible delays.

Thank You for the quick response. I forgot to mention that I'm a Finnish resident. Will that make a difference? And if I miss that second flight, will I get my money back?

    Finnish citicen, I mean :)

Yes, it makes a difference, your immigration line will be longer. Since you booked separate reservations, JetBlue is not obligated to refund any money or even rebook you if your miss your first flight.

  • Connecting flight from Paris
    Sep 6, 2014
Hi, I am looking at tickets now which come from Paris (CDG) to JFK, and with connecting flight to LAX and I only have two hours between the flights, is that enough? Or should I have more time when coming from Europe? It's Air France from Paris and Delta to LAX

2 hours should be enough time.

  • International to Domestic Transfer at JFK
    Sep 6, 2014
Flight segments from Billund, Denmark to Amsterdam to JFK for Danish traveler on KLM/Delta Airlines. Connection to domestic Delta flight from JFK to Austin, Texas. Two hour connection time in New York. Possibly carry-on luggage only I understand clearing immigration, collecting any checked luggage, passing customs, and rechecking baggage. I am also aware of Fast-Pass at customs if the connection time is tight. The question is whether I clear customs and then use the shuttle between T2-T4, or vice versa, and avoid additional security lines. Again, this is for an international to domestic connection. Thank you for any info.

You can go through Security in T4 after clearing customs and rechecking your bags and then take the shuttle to T2 or you can take the AirTrain to T2 after you re-check your bags and go through security there. There's no way to avoid having to go through security again in JFK.

  • T5 to T1 within 2 hours
    Sep 5, 2014
I am booking a Dec flight from Boston to NY JFK arriving at 1:20pm at T5 by JetBlue, then I will go T1 to take a plane leaving US at 3:20pm. I have only cabin luggage, will it be enough time for me to do so? how long will it take from T5 to T1 and by waht transport? Thanks

That should be enough time with only cabin luggage. All Terminals at JFK are connected outside security by the Airtrain.

  • Domestic to International

Hi, I have flight from DFW to JFK (using Delta) arriving at 2:44pm and then to Tel Aviv (using ElAl) leaving at 7:00pm. Tickets were bought separately. 1. Can I ask Delta to issue both tickets at DFW? 2. will it be enough connection time? 3. should I check out luggage and check in again at JFK? if yes, are there any tips to simplify the process?

Delta cannot issue your El Al boarding pass as they will not have access to your reservation. Yes, you will have to transfer your baggage yourself. You will have to claim it in T2 or T4 when you arrive, take it on the AirTrain to T4 (if you arrive in T2), then take it to the El Al counter to check to TLV. You should have plenty of time as long as your first flight is anywhere close to on-time.

Thank you! Do you know if there are any visual tours: of the Terminal 2 - how to get your luggage from luggage claim and Terminal 4 - how to pass the security?

There are no visual tours, just plenty of maps. The route to security is always very clearly marked and very obvious. There will be overhead signs pointing the way to everything.

  • how long of a connection do i need for domestic to domestic
    Sep 2, 2014
I will arrive in JFK from AUH on Etihad T4 but will be precleared in AUH and its supposed to be treated as a domestic arrival. Arriving at 4:35 PM, and need to fly on to CLE on the same day. The latest flight i can find seems to be Delta (T2) at 7 PM (need to be there 60 mins before i believe), so will i be able to make the connection? What if my flight is a bit late, will i be able to make it? Basically how much time do i need to allow? Thanks

Yes, you could make that connection because of the pre-clearance in Abu Dhabi. You will likely have your baggage (if you're checking bags) by 5:05 PM, it will take you maybe 10 minutes to get to T2, so you'll be in line to check your bags with Delta at T2 by 5:15 - so your flight can be up to 45 minutes late and you'll still be OK.

    thank you!

Hi, I'm considering a flight with Delta from Dublin to New Orleans via JFK. We will have cleared security in Dublin, but have only 1 hour 5 minutes to make the connecting flight to NO. Both are with delta so I was hoping this might be doable? Thanks!!

Yes. it should be doable but doesn't leave much time for delays. You will likely have to take the shuttle bus from T4 to T2 upon arrival.
