  • Connexion between CDG and MCO
    Jan 23, 2014
    3
Hello, I'm fying from CDG to MCO on next Sunday, landing at JFK at 13:25 (terminal4), and having a connecting flight at 15:50 (terminal2). So, Have I enough time to take my connection by taking into account the current bad climatic conditions? May be it's better to change now my connecting flight to ensure myself to arrive without any problem... Thank you, Florent

That should be enough time. There's no way to say for sure what the weather will be like 10 days from now and it's more likely that your transatlantic flight would be on-time than your domestic flight.

Hello, Thank you for your answer. This is not in 10 days, but next Sunday, in 3 days. I hope the weaher conditions will be better ! A last question : is it better to take the Airtrain instead of delta shuttle between T4 and T2 ? Thank you, Kind regards, Florent.

Since you will already be outside security after you clear customs and re-check your bags, it's probably fastest to take the AirTrain to T2 and go back through security there rather than go through security in T4 and taking the shuttle.

  • 2 Hours layover enough to transfer from Finnair flight to JetBlue?
    Jan 22, 2014

Hello, I'm doing a coast-to-coast road trip with 5 friends in July/June 2014. We should be arriving to JFK from Helsinki, Finland with Finnair's flight at 3:50 PM and we are planning to book a continuation flight to San Francisco from JetBlue which leaves at 5:49 PM. Would be 1 hour 59 minutes be enough time for us to claim our checked in luggage, clear immigration/customs, possibly transfer terminals if needed and still make it in time for package drop to JetBlue flight? Or should be just book a later continuation flight? Best Regards, An Eager Roadtripper

If you're buying two separate tickets yourself I'd want to leave a little more time as you'll have to take your baggage on the AirTrain from Terminal 8 to Terminal 5 and then wait in line to check it there AFTER completing all the immigration procedures. There are lots of JFK-SFO flights on various airlines.

  • Flying from FLL to JFK to Hong Kong

Flying Jet Blue from FLL to JFK arriving 9:30PM. I have a 12:50 AM flight on Cathay to Hong Kong. Is that ample time to retrieve luggage recheck at Cathay and make flight??

Yes, that should be plenty of time if your JetBlue flight is on-time. You will arrive in Terminal 5 and then take the AirTrain/Air Terminals Train to Terminal 7 where Cathay operates.

hi I am leaving from Washington dc at 7.43 and arrive at 8:59 pm with jet blue airways which I will be coming out from terminal 5 and I have a 5 year old and a 3 year old I will be having 3 check in luggage, I have to wait and re check in with my luggage at terminal 4 with Caribbean airlines. the lay over time is 3 hours, will have I enough time? and which will be easier with the kids the AirTran or taxi? I don't know how to go about the AirTran and which will be faster?i just don't want to miss my flight with Caribbean airline, will I be able to get assistance?

You can't take a taxi between Terminals. You have to take the AirTrain. You should have plenty of time to make your connection. There are many signs directing you to the AirTrain.

what is the latest time of checking in with Caribbean airline at terminal 4? and how long does it take with the airtran?

You will probably have to check your bags an hour before your flight. Claiming your bags and getting to T4 will probably only take a half hour or so.

do I have to redo security at JFK if i fly from FLL on Jet BLue then transfer to Icelandic Air

Yes, as JetBlue flights from FLL will arrive in Terminal 5 and Icelandair operates from Terminal 7. You will have to take the AirTrain/AirTerminals Train which runs outside the secure area.

its the same problem I am having I am arriving at jfk at 8.59 pm with jet blue and I have to recheck in with Caribbean airline at terminal 4 I don't want to be late for my check in which I am arriving exactly 3 hours, the only problem I have to take my check in luggage and re check in pluss I have a 3 year old and a 5 year old I don't know how to get to the air tran and I don't know what to do if to just get a taxi to the terminal 4 with the kids or will it be faster and easier with the air tran, will I get help to go to the terminal using the air tran? I need help

  • Customs from Brussels Airlines to United
    Jan 7, 2014

I am arriving to JFK with Brussels Airlines (T1) and transferring to United Domestic (T7) to go to LAX. Do I need to go through customs and immigration in JFK or when I get to LAX? I have 2.5 hours between flights, will I have enough time?

You will go through Immigration and Customs in T1 at JFK. You will then re-check your bags and take the AirTrain/Air Terminals Train to T7 where you will go through security and to your gate. You should have enough time.

Hi, We'll arrive from st lucia with JetBlue and then heading out for London with virgin.. All at terminal 4. Do we have to pick up our baggage, clear customers and re-check though it's the same terminal? If, how long will it take to go through?

Yes, you have the procedure correct. Immigration and customs will take 30-60 minutes.

  • arriving from Fort-Lauderdal to Montreal

Hi, I will be arriving from Fort-Lauderdale with Delta and going to Montreal also with Delta, Can you tell me which steps I will have to follow ..... Never have a connecting flight in USA. Thank you so much

You will arrive in Terminal 4 or Terminal 2 (probably Terminal 2) and depart from Terminal 2. If you arrive in Terminal 4 you will have to take Delta's shuttle bus from Terminal 4 to Terminal 2. If you arrive in Terminal 2 you just have to go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. In either case you won't have to go through security.

Thank you so much ... It is such a relief to know that ....

  • JetBlue to AA connection, both international

I'm flying Jetblue from BGI to JFK and then AA from JFK to YYZ. I only have an hour flights. Can I make the cnnection?

sorry, that's an hour between flights.

If you only have an hour between your flights you will NOT have enough time. You should not have booked that ticket and will have to change it.

how about 2 hours 30 minutes to change from an international jetblue flight to a domestic jetblue flight? I would have to clear customs. Do both flights go out of the same terminal?

International JetBlue flights arrive in T4 and domestic ones depart from T5. That should be enough time.

  • Connecting from T7 to T4/T2

I will be arriving in JFK from Hongkong with Cathay (CX 830) @12.10 PM and will have a connecting flight with Delta to Buffalo (DL 2907) leaving @3:30 PM. I will be travelling with my wife and will be carrying 2 baggage bags and 1 carry on bag. Is it the time enough for me to catch the flight on time. Need your advise.

Yes, that should be enough time. Once you clear customs in T7, if your bags are checked through to Buffalo you can re-check them in T7, if not you will have to take them with you on the AirTrain to T2 (your flight will depart from T2) and check them with Delta there (and pay checked bag fees). You will have plenty of time.

    Thank you for your information

  • Connection Question

Arriving @10:25 am Air Canada Terminal7 connecting to Japan airlines terminal 1 for a 12:15 flight. What is the best way to make this connection ? Does train travel in both directions? Do we have enough time to collect backpacks and get to next flight? Thanks

Yes, you can take a train in both directions. You should have enough time as you will pre-clear US Immigration when you depart Canada so your arrival into JFK will be like a domestic flight. http://www.jfk-airport.net/airtrain.html

Thanks Zap but I've been noticing that the air Canada flight has been arriving about an hour late quite often. Yikes would it be better to walk or take the train. Getting a bit worried about missing flight in NYC and then missing Tokyo flight. Help!

You can't walk between terminals at JFK, you have to take the train.

  • Arriving at JFK from Buenos Aires to domestic Boston connection
    Jan 3, 2014

Hi, I will be arriving at 0635 am at terminal 8 and got my connecting flight to Boston at 0800 am all via American Airlines. Do you know what gate normally Boston departs from? Is that enough time for the connection?

There are no usual gates. Terminal 8 is not extremely large. You should have enough time for your connection if your first flight is on-time. Immigration shouldn't be too crowded that early in the morning.

You will arrive in Terminal 2 or 4. You will then have to take the AirTrain/Air Terminals Train to Terminal 1 where you will go through security and to your gate. Your bags should be checked through to Milan. You will have plenty of time.

i'm coming from Moscow Sheremetyevo, SVO airport to San Diego Lindbergh International, SAN airport. But my connection flight is through John F Kennedy International airport. I have 2 hours. Can i make on time to my flight to San diego? how long it takes to go though 1T to 2T? Do i need to go to customs?

I'm assuming you are flying Aeroflot from SVO to JFK and Delta to San Diego and booked your tickets on a single reservation. If so you will arrive in Terminal 1 where you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, and then go through US Customs, then re-check your bags. You will then take the AirTrain/Air Terminals Train from T1 to T2 (if your flight to San Diego's Delta flight number starts with 2 or T4 (if it starts with 4) and then go through security and to your gate. You will have to hope your flight from Moscow is on-time and hurry, you will barely have enough time.

how fast does it takes to re-check my bags? when i will claim my bag where i need to go to re-check them? i hope i will make on time

You will claim them between clearing immigration and clearing customs. The re-check desk will be after you exit customs. There will be ample signage. Time to do it will depend how crowded it is, I can't really estimate exactly.

  • Short connection from Delta to Alitalia
    Dec 28, 2013

A group of 27 of us will arrive at terminal 2 at JFK on a Delta flight from MSP. We are connecting with an Alitalia flight that leaves from terminal 1. We have only 90 minutes layover. Our bags will have been checked all the way through to Tel Aviv but I am wondering how long it takes to get from T2 to T1.

You will have to hope your first flight is on-time and hurry. It will probably take about a half hour to 45 minutes to take the AirTrain/Air Terminals Train to T1 and go through security.

Thanks for this info. With a group, what would be the chances of Alitatia holding the flight for us?

It's possible, there's no clear and public policies on when flights are held and when they are not. It also depends how late your inbound flight is (if it is). If it's clear you won't be there around departure time, they will definitely leave without you.

Also, since Delta has a nonstop from JFK to Tel Aviv (where it appears you are going) which leaves late in the evening, it's possible that if you miss your connection and there are seats available, that Delta could rebook you for that flight.

    Thanks. This is very helpful.
