I will be doing a trip in october. Hope to take jetblue from D.C. to JFK and then to Italy. Have to go from terminal 5 to terminal 1. What is the quickest way to go between these terminals and what is the approximate time needed. Thanks so much

The only way between them is the AirTrain. I recommend at least 2.5 hours for this transfer.

I am a non-US citizen, flying from Amsterdam to JFK terminal 4. I am arriving to JFK at 1920; then I have a domestic flight for Rochester at 2055, from terminal 4, both flights are KLM. Will I have to go through immigration and Customs at JFK? Is 1 hour and 35 minutes going to be enough time? Thanks in advance.

Yes, you will arrive, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, and go through security. Your flight to Rochester will be operated by Delta Connection. You have just enough time if everything goes perfectly.

Im landing in JFK at 18:20 from chicago and getting on a plane for london at 20:30. So ive got just over two hours to make it. Its in the same terminal (Terminal 4). Its run by virgin but Delta is flying it. Will I have to go through security and customs? Or can I just jump straight into the same terminal? I also only have carry on baggage

All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. There is no US Customs when leaving the US.

Fantastic news! Its sounds like common sense but Its gonna be my first time connecting and I had to pick JFk for doing that didnt I. Thank you!

Flying from AUH, arriving in JFK Terminal 4 going to Seattle via Jet Blue in Terminal 5 with 2H 30min lay over. Is this enough time considering security checks and do we have to take our checked luggage and rechecked again in terminal %?

IF both tickets are on the same reservation then your bags will be checked through to Seattle and all you have to do is take the AirTrain to T5 and go through security. If you have two separate reservations then you will have to claim your bags and re-check them with JetBlue in T5. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Abu Dhabi. Either way you should have enough time.

I am flying in from San Diego to JFK on Delta operated by KlM then transferring to Altallia operated by KLM I am pretty sure I will be landing in terminal 4 and leaving out of Term 4 no checked bags is 75 minutes enough time to make my connecting flight? Do I have to go through security again?

Where are you flying to out of JFK? Your first flight will be operated by Delta.

I am flying to Rome I am pretty sure out of terminal 1

Yes, so then you will take the AirTrain from Terminal 4 to Terminal 1 and go through security. You have enough time if your flight from San Diego is on-time.

Flying home on Delta flight from Dublin and the flight was delayed an hour. Land at 2:32 pm in terminal 4 and my next delta flight departs at 3:55 in terminal 2 of JFK. Is this enough time?

Yes, that is enough time. You will still pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Dublin. All you have to do is take the Jitney bus to T2 and go to your departure gate.

My niece is landing at JFK and her flight was late out of Europe. Coming to T4 and has connection out of T2 - I know they have to clear customs - they have carryon only. There is a recheck security point after customs correct? But is the bus or train from T4 to t2 inside security? Thx. They are flying non rev. Right connection time due to late flight out I Spain.

Hi. Arriving at 18:10 on AA from Clt. Departing at 20:30 on Alitalia to Milan. Is that going to work ?

That's just enough time if everything goes smoothly. However, note that Alitalia flights depart from Terminal 1, not Terminal 8. You will have to transfer any checked bags between terminals yourself.

I am looking at a BA flight that lands in JFK at 12.45 on Monday 12September (BA1589), then I will need to get a connecting flight by Jet Blue at 14.39 (B61373). I will have 1 hour 54 min connection time. Is this enough time? Will I need to collect my bags and clear customs once I get off the BA flight then check back in and go through security to get the Jet Blue flight?

Yes, you will arrive in Terminal 7, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, take the AirTrain to T5, re-check your bags with JetBlue and go through security. You have less time than I recommend. I recommend 3 hours for an International to Domestic connection at JFK on two separate reservations.

Hi. On July 8(Fri), I will arrive in JFK at 13:05 from HKG via CX0830 in Terminal 7 and I will connect to AA2183 14:55 from JFK to DCA. I am an APEC/APTC holder and could go thru crew/diplomat line. Is the connecting fine?

It's possible, especially if you don't have checked bags or they come out quickly.

Hi ZAP, they are two separate ticket and there is 1 checked baggage. Is it OK?

Then that's considerably more difficult because even though you can go through the crew line for immigration, you may be waiting for your bag. You can show the agent in Hong Kong your AA confirmation and hopefully get your bag tagged to DCA. That way you can re-check your bag in T7 and not have to take it to the AA counter in T8.

Thanks ZAP. If the checked bag can be tagged directly to DCA, why shall I recheck my bag in T7 and how to do it?

We will be arriving at JFK from.Orlando on Virgin and have a connecting Virgin flight to LHR 1 hr 20 mins later. My travel agent said it will be enough time as we will not need to collect our cases. Is this correct?

  • Connection between terminal 2 and terminal 8

Hi! I am arriving at 5:58 pm from Florida to JFK (Domestic fligh with Delta airlines) on Terminal 2 and the next flight I have is from JFK to Dusseldorf (International flight with Airberlin) at 9:25 pm from Terminal 8. Is there enough time between the flights to take the baggage, switch terminals, go through security and check in? The filights are not connected. Are there any buses between terminal 2 and 8 or are the terminals in walking distance? Thank you, Neja

Yes, that should be enough time. The AirTrain connects all terminals outside security.

we are arriving at JFK (international flight from Cyprus) at 19:20 and would like to take a domestic flight to San Francisco at 21:50. That gives us 2:30 hours to collect our luggage , go through customs check in again and transfer from terminal 4 to terminal 8. Is that doable?

On two separate reservations that's difficult but not impossible.

Hi all I am traveling from SIngapore via Sq to JFK on the 13th of Aug. Touching down at 1110hrs (termnial 4). My connecting flight to Toronto via AA is at Terminal 8 at 1525hrs. Will I have enough time to catch the transiting flight. This is my first time to States, any advise would be appreciated. regards Kun

Yes, that should be enough time. You will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, take your bags with you on the AirTrain to T8, re-check them with AA, and go through security. If you are not a US or Canadian citizen you will have to complete ESTA or have a transit visa to transit the US.

In about two weeks I will be arrive at terminal 2 flying Delta at 9:00 PM and I will my connecting flight to CPH departs at 10:29. I will need to switch to a Terminal 4 and both flights are on one ticket. Does the Jitney run at this time and is this enough time to get from one gate to another?

Yes, the Jitney runs at that time. You have enough time.

We are on a flight from Barcelona to Boston through JFK on British Airways 1557/8406 (operated by American Airlines). It will be convenient for two of the party to actually get ground transportation from JFK rather than fly back to Boston only to reverse course. Can they get their bags at JFK and skip the last leg?

You will all have to get your bags to go through customs in JFK. However, if they skip the last portion of their trip to Boston, any further legs on their reservation will be cancelled. They can do this if JFK-Boston is the last flight on their reservation.
