  • Domestic to Internaional terminal transfer

I arrive on Delta Domestic and have to connect on China Eastern (Yikes) in a different terminal. When I transfer terminals am I leaving the secure area and have to go through security again? Or is this like a domestic transfer and I just move from gate to gate. I'm not checking any luggage.

Yes, when you exit the terminal to take the AirTrain to your departure terminal you will be outside the secure area, so you will have to go through security again.

  • Want to use AA lounge in Terminal 8

I am arriving in Terminal 4 by Delta at 8:35 AM on a domestic flight and then departing from Terminal 4 itself on an international flight at 2:25 PM. Want to go to terminal 8 to use the only AA lounges in JFK. Would I be allowed to go to Terminal 8 for that? And do I need to clear the arrivals immigration when getting out to go back from Terminal 8 to Terminal 4? Thank you, KG

You will not have to go through Immigration in JFK, but you will have to go through security when you enter T8 and when you re-enter T4. They are also not obligated to allow you to enter T8.

Thank you ZAP for your quick input.

I have a flight in early April, arrive on Delta at 7:30, leave on Iberia at 9:30. Is that a reasonable connection time?

Without checked bags, it should be pretty easy as long as your first flight isn't heavily delayed. With checked bags, since you will have to transfer them between Terminals yourself, it may be difficult. With checked bags I would want more time.

  • Norwegian from Stockholm to JetBlue to Miami

Planning to arrive from Stockholm with Norwegian at 8:00 PM on a Friday (Terminal 1). Leaving for Fort Lauderdale at 9:50 PM (Terminal 5). Is this doable? 1h50 to clear immigration and make it over. No checked luggage, and plan to already be checked into the JetBlue flight.

    Should be barely possible.

Barely possible - as in possible, but tight? Would getting JetBlue "Even More Speed" help, or are the key time-risks in AirTrain and immigration (not an American citizen).

Even more speed probably wouldn't help much. the main time risk is immigration.

    Many thanks, ZAP! Very helpful.

How much time and what transport do I use to get from domestic delta flight 400 arriving JFK 2:44PM to the American terminal for an international American flight 106 leaving at 6:35PM. Should I just take a carry on or do I have time to check bags.

You have time for checked bags. You get between Terminals via the AirTrain. You will arrive at Terminal 4 and depart from Terminal 8.

  • Barcelona to nyc to lax

hi, I have a flight from Barcelona to nyc then to lax on delta. The layover time is 85 mins. Is this enough time to get through customs and make my flight? Would be in nyc airport at around 3 or 4 pm. Not sure how packed it is at this time. Thanks.

That will be difficult. That is one of the busiest times of day and that is 5 minutes less than the minimum recommended connection time. It's possible though, and if you do miss your connection Delta does operate several flights from JFK to LAX that you can be rebooked on.

  • T8 to T5

Arriving T8 from CDG (have to clear immigration and customs). Connecting flight is Delta from T4. Since separate tickets bags have to be rechecked. Passenger is on wheelchair. Question is can the passenger make the connection under 2 hours?

Under 2 hours would be very very difficult.

  • Terminal 8 to terminal 4

Flying to JFK terminal 8 from Manchester UK with AA and out of terminal 4 with JetBlue to Jacksonville. Originally had 2h50m the inbound flight is now later and the outbound later giving us only 2 hours. Is this possible?

JetBlue uses Terminal 5, not Terminal 4. With checked bags this will now be a very difficult connection as you will have to transfer the bags yourself from T8 to T5 and re-check them. Without checked bags it is possible if you check-in online for your JetBlue flight before leaving Manchester.

Sorry, it was delta from T4 not Jet Blue, but I expect the outcome is the same?

    Correct

Thanks for the help ZAP. Now just going to take carry on luggage to save time. What is the best way to transfer from T8 to T4?

The only way to get between terminals is the AirTrain.

  • Connecting terminal 7 on Icelandair to Delta PGH

I have a flight from Iceland landing at 6:05 pm Friday 27 T7 connecting to a Delta flight to PGH at 9 pm. Separate tickets so I can"t interline the luggage..Will need to clear custom/im get to terminal (? not sure which one) recheck bags and clear security. ok timewise? Delta is First class so that might help with security/bag check...also should i get a cab from T7 to the Delta terminal...is it faster?

You should have enough time. You cannot take a cab between terminals. You have to take the AirTrain.

Trying to determine if 1h 25min is enough time to get from a domestic Jet blue flight (T5 I think) to a AA flight (T8 I think) going to Caribbean so international. Does this seem realistic?

Without checked baggage, I think it would be barely possible. With checked baggage, no it's unrealistic.

  • Transit from T5 to T7

Hi, I'm going to land at JFK at T5 from Fory Myers by Jetblue at 12:40pm and going to connect to another Cathay flight to HK departing T7 at 14:55pm under separate tickets. I don't have any checked lugguage, does it have enough time for the transit? Do I need to go through the security check and immigration at Fort Myers or at JFK airport?

Yes, that should be enough time. You will need to take the AirTrain from T5 to T7, get your Cathay boarding pass, and go through security. You do not go through US Immigration when leaving the US.

Hi! I will have a connecting flight in JFK from Hong Kong (via Cathay Pacific) and going to St. Thomas, USVI (via AA). Is 2 hours, 20 minutes enough with the need to re-check the baggage and have security checks? Thanks.

Yes, that should be enough time. You will also have to take the AirTrain from T7 to T8, but it should barely be enough time.

Hi, I found a flight that arrives (from Europe) at JFK T1 and my next domestic flight (to Dallas) in the same terminal JFK T1 is 53 minutes after that. Is this normal there?

No flights to Dallas leave from T1. 53 minutes is not enough time to make an International to Domestic connection at JFK. What airlines are you flying?

Maybe it was not Dallas, the flights are not available anymore to check, but it was: Helsinki - JFK - ??? (USA) - Lima. with only 53 minutes "waiting" (actually running) in JFK. Thank you for your reply :)

Ah... yes, all flights were from American Airlines.

American Airlines uses T8. But still, 53 minutes is insufficient. You need to contact your travel agent and fix this.
