I will be flying into JFK terminal 8 from Dublin Ireland and I have a connecting flight to Raleigh which also departs from terminal 8. I will be clearing immigration control at Dublin airport so there will be no delays when I land, will 60 minutes be enough time to get off the first flight and make it to the second or should I consider a later connecting flight?

Yes, if your flight from Dublin is on time then 1 hour is fine. Terminal 8 isn't that big.

  • Customs at terminal 8

My mom is traveling from Columbus to Brazil. She will board at columbus to jFK and from there to Brazil, all within AA flights. Does she have to go trought customs at JFK or it will be only in Columbus ( which is an international airport as well)? In case she will need to pass customs again in NY, will she need to pick up luggage ans re-check in?

On the trip from Columbus to Brazil, she will clear customs in Brazil. On the trip from Brazil to Columbus, she will clear customs in JFK. On that trip she will have to claim her luggage at JFK while going through immigration then drop it back off with AA before going through security again at JFK.

Thank you!She will ony have to go through security in Columus or does she also have to pass by atterminal 8 in JFK ( meaning, showing the passport and metal detector) ? She is 72y and not very fast.. . As she has only 1:30h to change aircrafts, I am afraid she will need to hush ans mybe get confused... But I guess, she will not change terminals. Thanks, again for further advice.

Both her flights will be in terminal 8 at JFK so she won't have to go through security on her way to Brazil there. If you're concerned about her in the airport you can request wheelchair service (which is free). Just call the airline to do so.

Flying Delta have 1/12 hours between flights--Do I have enough time between flights --Detroit to JFK

On arrival at JFK, look at overhead screens to find your flight and gate number. Delta uses Terminals 2, 3 & 4. If you need to transfer, use the Airline Terminals Train, starting at T1 to T8, T7, T5, T4, & T2/3). Signs will guide you (JFK map show the line it in yellow). T2 has gates 19-29; T3 gates 1-18, T4 has gates A2-7 and B20-31. You can also walk between T2 & T3. On arrival at your connecting terminal you need to go through security check before proceeding to your gate.

I am connecting at jfk for a flight to aruba. I am flying out of boston and only have 1 hour to make connection. Airline says I will make it. Any thoughts or tips?

At JFK,on arrival at Terminal 8 board the Airline Terminal Train (follow signs) which runs between all terminals in the unsecured area and takes minutes. At T3 you need to go through security check prior to getting to your connecting gate. Make sure your airline transfers bags to your connecting airline - if not you need to pick up your bag on arrival and take it to your connecting airline counter at T3.

International arrival on T8 to international departure T8, American Airlines, do I have to go through security check?

All international arrivals need to go through passport check, pick up bags and go through customs clearance, then re-check-in bags where indicated. Yes, at JFK you need to go through security check before proceeding to your connecting gate.

I arrive at 8:10 via AA & Depart at 10:40 am via EK. Do I have to check out & check in luggage again or do they transfer? Is it enough time to check in & out again? Please help me with as little time as possible. I don't want to loose my next flight in case first one is delayed. Thanks

You need to contact AA to find out if they transfer your bags at JFK (or go to the AA counter at your initial departure Airport). If not, you need to claim your bag and take it along on the "Airline Terminal Train" (follow signs - maps posted show it in yellow) where your next stops will be T7, T6, T5 & T4, taking no more than 15 mins. However, on arrival you will need to go (to departure level, Emirates counter, to re-check-in bag) and proceed to security checkpoints on either side of Concourse A (gates A2-7), and Concourse B (gates B20-31).

  • Jet blue to Singapore airline

I have only 1 hour to make a connect flight with Singapore airline. I travel from Boston to NY JFK by Jet Blue. Do I have time to make this connection?

First you need to make sure that JetBlue will transfer your bags to Singapore Airline - if not, you need to claim your bag on arrival and check it in at the Singapore check-in counter before proceeding to your connecting flight. JetBlue uses Terminals 4 & 5, Singapore T4. If you need to transfer from T5 to T4 take the 'Airline Terminals Train' (marked on JFK's maps in yellow) serving the unsecured areas of the terminals - needing one stop only, but having to go through security check before proceeding to connecting gates.

My husband and I each fly into JFK airport at terminal 8. My flight is domestic and his is international, both are American Airlines. Will we be in the same building or in different buildings? Terminal 8 has two separate buildings. Thank you.

Terminal 8 at JFK is one building, with an Arrivals level housing customs clearance, which your husband has to pass through. I suggest you meet him a the ground transportation information counter near the baggage claim.

  • cost of Airtrain

Is the air train a free service or is there a ticket to be purchased ?

I think you have to purchase ticket.

Recently the train serving solely JFK's terminals and making a continuous loop, was renamed 'Airline Terminal Train' to distinguish it from the Airtrain which runs from two separate routes of New York to JFK, stopping at JFK at each terminal (free within the airport). Each terminal stop connects to between Airtrain & Airline Terminal Train. Tickets can be purchase for the Airtrain at the arrivals level, transportation counter.

  • Same Terminal (5) but very short layover
    Jan 22, 2013

I am arriving departing both through Terminal 5 (connecting Jet Blue to Hawaiian there, and Hawaiian to Jet Blue on the return). On the return trip however I only have 35 minutes of a layover! I originally thought this would not be a problem what so ever as they are the same terminal and hence *assumed* I wouldn't have to go through security. Looking at the map however it seems as though I may still have to...is 35 min enough time? If I miss it the next flight is not for another 9 hours :(

As Terminal 5 of JFK Airport only has gates 1 to 25, your 35 min layover time should suffice; provided that your plane is on time.

  • AA connection?

I will be landing in T8 with American Airlines and will have 50 minutes to get to T4. Is that enough time? Or am I better off to pay the extra money to get another flight that allows for more time during the layover?

That depends on whether you are an international or a domestic arrival. I suggest you open www.ifly.com/jfk, then click on 'Terminal Map' under QUICK LINKS and scroll down to the detailed text.

  • From terminal 5 to 7

How long does it take to get from terminal 5 to 7?

On arrival at JFK, at T5, you need to take the "Airline Terminal Train" (follow signs) which runs on a continuous loop around the terminals in the non-secured areas. Your stops after T5 would be T4, T2/3, T1, T8, & T7 - 5 stops - about 12-15 mins. At T7 you need to go through security check before proceeding to your gate.
