I can't answer your question unless you can tell me what airlines your parents are flying.

  • Transfer from Terminal 4 to Terminal 2
    Apr 17, 2015
Hi there I am flying with Delta from LAX to San Juan, Puerto Rico with a stop over at JFK, all booked together. My flight arrives at Terminal 4 at 5:55am and departs from Terminal 2 at 7:00am so I have 1.05 minute stop over, will this give me enough time to make my connecting flight? Do I need to clear through security again? Does Delta have a shuttle bus for connecting flights? Thank you

I mean I have 1 hour and 5 minutes connection time

Most Puerto Rico flights leave from Terminal 4. However, even if it leaves from Terminal 2 you have plenty of time. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate and Delta runs a shuttle bus inside security to Terminal 2 if you need to go there.

My itinerary says it departs from terminal 2, is this subject to change? That sounds perfect so I won't need to go through security again if I catch the shuttle bus between terminals? How often does the shuttle bus run?

Yes, it is subject to change. The shuttle bus runs almost constantly. Yes, you won't have to go through security at JFK even if you have to take the shuttle bus.

  • T7 to T8 transfer
    Apr 17, 2015
Arriving on BA from LHR into T7, departing on AA to BOS from T8. I assume I will collect my luggage, clear customs and drop the bags at the transfer counter. Out into fresh air, onto the train and off again at T8. back through security and off to my gate. I have about 2:30 for the connection. Am I correct? Any possible issues? Thanks...

oh, forgot to mention, this is a single through-ticket (I actually start the trip in Nice). I'd assume that the bags will be labelled right through to BOS.

You have the process correct. Yes, the bags will be tagged to BOS but you'll still have to claim and re-check them in JFK. 2:30 should be plenty of time.

Thanks. One other thing... I'm a OneWorld Sapphire member. Are there any express lanes for customs, security etc?

That may get you priority security in T8. If so it will be printed on your boarding pass.

  • do i have enough time?
    Apr 16, 2015
Flying Delta from CLE to JFK. Arriving at 18:43. Flight on Singapore Airlines leaves for FRA at 20:55. Will I need to collect my luggage and re-check it? Do I need to go through security again? Do I have enough time? Thanks.

Did you purchase your tickets separately or together. If together then you won't have to claim your bags and just have to walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, both in T4. If separately you will have a tough time because you will have to claim your bags from Delta and re-check them with Singapore then go through security.

I purchased my tickets separately. I can take an earlier flight but that means sitting in JFK for almost 8 hours.

You'll either have to do that or you can fly to LGA and leave about 4 hours between flights and do a connection between airports. There's a lot more flights from CLE to LGA than to JFK.

  • security clearance for same terminal
    Apr 15, 2015
Hi, I will be flying into JFK from Dublin with AA and have the connecting flight from the same terminal with same airline. I would have pre clearance for immigration at Dublin so I won't need to go through it again in JFK. Will I need to go through security again at JFK for my connecting flight? Please help and Thanks!

No, all you have to do in JFK is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

    Thanks a million!

  • Luggage Racks in between Terminals
    Apr 15, 2015
Does anyone know if you can pay for a luggage cart in one terminal and take it to another terminal on the train?

Rental luggage carts are generally not allowed on trains.

Thx for reply. Any suggestion for how my mother in law (who is traveling with three bags on her own and does not speak English) can get from Delta terminal to LAN with her bags?

She can pack a small foldable luggage cart in her baggage.

  • 1:12 Connection Time
    Apr 14, 2015
If I am flying into JFK from Atlanta on Delta to catch a connecting flight to Moscow, is 1 hour, 12 minutes enough time? Thanks!

Yes, that should be enough time if your first flight is on-time. You may arrive in Terminal 2 or 4 and will depart from Terminal 4. Delta runs a shuttle between T2 and T4 inside security.

    Much appreciated!

  • Short connection JFK
    Apr 12, 2015
Hi, we are flying Delta from Italy to San Juan (Puerto Rico) with a short connection on JFK. The first plane should arrive at 01:45 PM (Terminal 4). The second fight is scheduled at 02:59 PM (Terminal 4). That makes 1h14min connection time. We are no US citizens and we have a little child. Is it enough time between flights ? Thanks in advance.

No! that is insufficient time. the minimum time for that connection is 90 minutes, and I would prefer to have closer to two hours.

  • T4 to T5 in 2:35
    Apr 12, 2015
I arrive at 11:10 on Sunday AM to T4 than need to go via T5 at 14:45. Will 2:35 do the job? Iam coming from Europe and will need go through custom as well. Do I need to carry my checked in luggage to T5 myself or is there a way to re-check it right at T4? Singapore air said they tag the luggage all the way down. I change to JetBlue

CORRECTION: 13:45 PM so 2:35 in between

You will have to claim your bags to go through US Customs, but can then re-check it at the transfer desk if it is tagged through to your final destination. You will then take the AIrTrain from T4 to T5, get your JetBlue boarding pass if you don't already have it, then go through security.

  • JFK Layover
    Apr 11, 2015
Flying from Madrid to LAX, with a layover at JFK. Arriving and departing Terminal 4 with Delta. 1) Will we need to claim bags, clear customs, and re-check-in while at JFK? Current layover time is 1hr45min. 2) Wondering if this is enough layover time if we need to clear customs/get bags/check-in?

Yes, in JFK you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then re-check your bags at the transfer desk. Then go through security and to your departure gate which will also be in T4. You have enough time if your first flight is on-time.

  • Delta Rome to Seattle via JFK
    Apr 11, 2015
Is there enough time to got thru customs and make last leg of flight if Rome-JFK arrives at 3:35 and flight to Seattle leaves at 6:05?

Yes, that is plenty of time. Both flights will be in Terminal 4.

    Thanks so much!

  • 2 hour layover from Moscow via JFK to San Diego? Too short?
    Apr 10, 2015
We fly the delta from Moscow to JFK (467) and then JFK to San Diego (436). We only have two hours layover in JFK. Is it enough time? Are these two flight at the same terminal? Do I need to get my luggage out and check-in again? Thank you!

You will arrive in Terminal 4, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then re-check your bags at the transfer desk. Your flight to San Diego could depart from Terminal 2 or 4. if it departs from 2, take the AirTrain to T2 and go through security there. Otherwise just go through security and to your departure gate in T4.

Thank you very much! Is two hours enough for all these if I have to go from terminal 4 to 2? These flights are provided when I booked online.

Yes, 2 hours should still be enough time even if you have to change terminals.

  • Time between terminals
    Apr 10, 2015
WE are arrive on a BA flight from LHR arriving at 1845 and need to connect to probably a JetBlue flight to Boston. Can you tell me the terminals and how long I should set aside for terminal change and check in times. How do I get from terminal to terminal

You will arrive in Terminal 7. JetBlue uses Terminal 5. You could also book on American which uses Terminal 8 and earn BA miles. All terminals are connected outside security by the AirTrain.

Also, if you're purchasing two separate tickets you should leave at least 2.5 hours, preferably closer to 3 hours.

  • Enquiry on flight connections btw 2 terminals
    Apr 10, 2015
Hi, I would arrive JFK from Carribean on JetBlue at Terminal 5 on a Fri at 7.15pm. I have a connecting filight on SingaporeAir at Terminal 4 from JFK to Franfurt at 8.55pm. Will 1hr40mins, do I have enough time to catch the connecting flight? Do I need to claim my bags, take the AirTrain and re-go through the security check-in custom at Terminal 4? Appreciate prompt advise. Thanks so much.

Additonal info. The flight is on 22 May. And the flight tickets are purchased on same day through the travel agent.

Yes, you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then re-check your bags at the transfer desk, then take the AirTrain to T4, then get your singapore boarding pass if you don't already have it, then go through security.

Thanks for your response. So is 1hr 40min enough time for the above?

  • Two hour layover time
    Apr 9, 2015
Hi! Im traveling from Warsaw to Cancun with a stop in JFK. What do I have to do when I arrive there? and is it enough connection time? My first flight is with LOT and the secod with american airlines and two-hour layover. Thanks

I'm assuming you bought two separate tickets? You will arrive in Terminal 1, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then take your bags on the AirTrain with you to Terminal 8, check them with American, then go through security and to your departure gate. LOT and American do have an interline baggage agreement, you could show your American confirmation to the agent in Warsaw and ask her to check the bags through to CUN. If she does then you will be able to re-check your bags at the transfer desk right after customs in T1 instead of having to bring them with you to T8. This will be a difficult, but possible, connection.
