Hi,

My husband and I are coming back to the States from Zurich in JFK (on Delta) at 1PM. Need to clear custom, pick up checked bags then recheck into a separate domestic flight from JFK to DCA at 3pm. We have the option of buying Delta or AA, both leaves around 3PM. Would 2 hours be enough to do all that?

Thank you in advance!
Do the Delta flight, then you can have them joined into the same reservation and your connection will be much easier.
Thank you ZAP.

I called Delta, they said they cannot link separate tickets but put a note in. I have to talk to the agents in the airport, but usually they will only check the bags through the tickets destination.

Could you please clarify what you mean by "connection will be much easier"? Did you mean not have to pick up checked bags? Would we still need to clear custom at JFK and re-enter for the connection to DCA?

Thank you in advance.

It means you won't have to go to a different terminal if you fly Delta to DCA. You will still need to claim your bags to go through US Customs.
We are flying domestically( Jet Blue) arriving at JFK at 22:00. Our SAS flight is at 11:00 the next day. Will we get our luggage at JFK or will they be checked all the way to JNB?
You will have to claim your luggage and re-check it in the morning.
G'day,

I am down to fly Aruba-Jfk-Dubai-Perth (AUA-JFK-DXB-PER). My question is on the JFK transit (JetBlue to Emirate) is there a requirement to collect and recheck my bags? I do have a current ESTA so no dramas there..
Is it one reservation or two separate reservations? If it's all the same reservation you don't claim your bags in JFK because you pre-clear US Immigration and customs in Aruba.
Hi Zap,

thanks for the quick response... all one reservation
I'm on a RJ flight from AMM that arrives JFK Terminal 8 at 16:20, and then I'm departing JFK Terminal 5 at 20:30 (4:10 hours layover) on a domestic B6 flight on a separate reservation/ticket. Questions: (1) after immigration/customs at Terminal 8 can I recheck my bag at Terminal 8 for the B6 flight departing Terminal 5, or do I need to bring my luggage to Terminal 5 and check it in there; (2) best way to get from Terminal 8 to Terminal 5 is the AirTrain, correct? Thanks.
Since it's a separate reservation you will have to take your bags with you to Terminal 5 on the AirTrain to re-check them with jetBlue.
My Qatar airways flight gets in at 2:15 pm. Will I have sufficient time to catch a delta flight at 3:55?
Realistically no that is not enough time.
Hi,

My flight with jetblue (terminal 5) to CHARLESTON 1373 has been pushed forward from 4.53 pm -> 3.50 PM.
I am arriving with Delta Airlines from Brussel, KL 6141, (maybe to terminal 4) arrival 1.18 PM

Will 2.5 hours be enough for the transfer ect.?

Thanks!

Per
Yes, that is just enough time if everything goes smoothly.
Thanks! They also promissed me to reschedule us without additional costs if we dont make it.
We are flying today from ATL to JFK on Delta. We are connecting to a Delta flight to Shannon, Ireland. Do we need to reclaim our baggage at JFK and check back in or will it be checked through to Shannon from ATL. How far are the international gates from the domestic? We have a five-hour layover.
There are no "international gates" and "domestic gates". Delta runs a shuttle inside security between T2 and T4 if you arrive in T2.
So I'm flying for the first time to Chicago alone.. I bought a direct flight from London Heathrow to Chicago Ohare, unfortunately Virgin Atlantic have stopped doing direct flights. So they offered me connecting flights. I will be flying with Virgin Atlantic to JFK, then flying from JFK to Ohare with Delta. I'm not too sure what to expect. I know they won't be transferring my luggage from one flight to another, so what I'm wondering is where do I pick my bags up from? And where do I drop them off? I basically need a step-by-step guide from when I get off the plane at JFK till when I board the Delta plane to Ohare, because I have no idea what to do.. I have so many questions :(
You will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go through security and to your departure gate all in Terminal 4.
Hi,
My flight AGP-JFK arrives 4:50 PM
Connecting flight JFK-MSP departs at 6:20PM
I had to but tickets separately, although they are both Delta they say they won't guarantee a connection if I miss my flight (separate confirmation numbers).
I checked flight history, looks like flight arrives normally at Gate C61 and MSP flight leaves from gates around B30.
Dumb question but I don't know if those gates are different concourses in the same terminal or separate terminals...?
I'll just have a carry-on so no waiting for baggage in JFK.
Is 90 mins enough time?

Thanks-
They are in different terminals. 90 minutes is just enough time if everything goes perfectly.
Thanks for the quick reply. Getting from T2 to T4 - it looks like you have to go back thru security? On the Delta Map it shows a security checkpoint after taking shuttle to B18. I see lots of forums but people contradicting each other- some say the Delta air shuttle operates airside and you don't have to go thru TSA but others say after intl arrival you always have to go back thru. Last time I connected in JFK, after customs I ended up landside and had to go thru TSA, any way avoiding going back thru security after intl arrival?

The shuttle bus operates airside. The AirTrain operates landside. You will have to go through security regardless after you clear US Customs because once you do, you will be outside security.
HI there - I have a flight out of BOS at 5:05 putting me in JFK at 6:33 then departing from JFK to Barcelona at 8:05 all through Delta Airlines - it looks like I arrive and depart from terminal 4 - will this be enough time for me to make the connection?
Yes, that should be enough time. All you have to do in JFK is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.
