  • Time between flights

Will be arriving at Terminal 1 AT 13:05, will need to connect with Delta, terminal 4, flight at 16:10, is that enough time and how long to get between terminals.

Yes, that's plenty of time. I'm assuming your T1 flight is International. You will clear Immigration, claim your baggage, go through us customs. Then, if your bag is tagged through to Delta you can re-check it in T1, but if not, take it with you, and take the AirTrain/Air Terminals Train from T1 to T4. It will only take about 15 minutes to get between terminals.

Thanks for the info, will try to get bags checked thru the Delta flight, may save a little. thanks

hi, i m travelling by canada airline from toronto to jfk and then to india by air india. could anyone guide me

Do you mean "Air Canada" - there is no "Canada Airline"? Were your tickets bought on one reservation or separate ones? Air Canada arrives in Terminal 7 and Air India departs from Terminal 4. They are connected outside security via the AirTrain. You will pre-clear US Immigration in Toronto.

thank you very much, it aircanada, tickets bought are separate one.

  • From Paris to Miami

Hi, I'll be traveling from Paris to Miami via JFK. My booking flights is with Air France but the flight to MIAMI is operated by Delta (code share). I would greatly appreciate any information as to how to best and fast make the connection because I only have 2 hours. Thank you so much.

You will arrive in Terminal 1 where you will go through US Immigration, claim your baggage, go through US Customs, and re-check your bags. Then you will go upstairs to the AirTrain/Air Terminals Train to either Terminal 4 or Terminal 2 (check your departure gate before departing at Delta.com or the Air France personnel may also be able to help you) where you will go through security and to your gate (it appears the two afternoon JFK-MIA flights on Delta usually leave from Terminal 4).

Thanks for your answer. In Terminal 1, after leave US customs, do you know where can I re-check my bags? And after that and to go to Air Train/Air Terminals is far away from there? You wrote I need go upstairs. Is it to the left or write from the re-cheching? I ask because I cant loose any minute. I only have 2 hours. I need correct directions. Thanks again

The re-check desk will be right after you clear customs it will be clearly marked. Also, the signs to the airtrain are also very clearly marked. It's kind of hard to explain in text.

  • What to do in Terminal 8

Arriving from Toronto into Terminal 2 with Delta and then flying out from Terminal 7 with Qantas. Unfortunately there will now be a delay of 10 hours because our Delta flight has changed. What can we do for all this time in Terminal 8? Are there lounges that you can pay to go to rest, shower eat etc. Any and all suggestions gratefully read.

Unless you are oneworld elite or in business or first class, and can therefore use the British Airways lounge in T7, your only other option is to buy a pass to the United Club in T7. The best place to buy these passes is on ebay, but be sure to check the expiration date of the passes you're buying.

On arrival at Terminal 2 of JFK Airport take the 'Airline Terminals Train' running counter-clockwise (next terminals T1, T8, T7)every 8 mins on average, but in the unsecured areas. (If both legs of the journey were purchased on one ticket, your bags will automatically be transferred, if not, make sure that Delta transfers bags. On arrival at T8 you will need to go through security check before entering the secure area of the Departures level, which offers shopping & dining, as well as the OneWorld lounge, situated in front of the gate area of Concourse B. Qantas is a member of OneWorld Alliance. For more information contact Qantas at 800-227-4500.

Disregard most of frdec's post. QANTAS operates from T7, not T8.

  • Connecting flight in JFK to international plane

I'm going on a Jetblue flight from Rochester NY to JFK, and then have a 6 hour layover, and will be taking an international flight from JFK. Will I be able to meet a friend in the neighborhood during the layover, or is that not allowed? I don't mind going through security again.

Yes, you can go wherever you want as long as you get back to JFK 90-120 minutes before your intl flight.

I am getting into JFK terminal 4 from Phoenix at 630 via Delta. I am planning on buying another domestic flight via American Airlines which is Terminal 8. Do I need to go through security again or can I just hop on the AirTrain? The next flight is at 8 Thanks

I will just have my carry on bags with me

You will have to go through security again as the AirTrain runs outside security. Make sure to check in online for your AA flight before you leave Phoenix. You should be OK as long as your first flight is on-time, bu things at JFK frequently are not on-time.

Food is ok. But we asked for some boiled water for our baby food so that the water would be sterilised and instead of saying this was not possible due to US regulations or providing the water a little later after it had cooled sufficiently the staff simply said they could not boil water! The manager was even less courteous and professional....we had a terrible experience, surprising given the excellent service we received in the rest of the USA with our baby.

Hi I arrive to JFK with American Airlines at 11:45 terminal 8 from Toronto Pearson (already cleared U.S. customs in Toronto), I am a first time solo flyer and am a bit nervous about messing up my connection. my next flight is an EL AL flight from terminal 4 to Tel Aviv at 6pm. I know I got enough time to make this connection (no kidding) lol but I'm not sure where exactly to go

correction I get into jfk at 12:45

All you have to do is claim your baggage from American and take the AirTrain/Air Terminals Train to Terminal 4. It is clearly marked. The El Al check-in counter may not be open yet when you get to T4 so you'll have some time to kill.

Everything is under one ticket... Do I still need to pick up my baggage if it's under one ticket?

In that case, no you shouldn't. AA and El Al have an interline agreement and should be able to check your bag through to Tel Aviv, the last time you will have to touch it is in pre-clearance in Toronto.

  • Arriving from LHR on BA and connecting with Delta to Charleston

Hi, I will be traveling from London via JFK in early December. My flight from London is with BA arriving at 2:25 pm and I will be connecting with Delta at 6:30 pm. The tickets were purchased separately. I would greatly appreciate any information as to how to best make the connection and if I have enough time to do so. Thank you so much.

You will arrive in Terminal 7 where you will go through US Immigration, claim your baggage, and go through US Customs. You will then have to take your baggage on the JFK AirTrain/Air Terminals Train to Terminal 2 where you will check-in with Delta and go through security. You should have plenty of time.

    Great! Thank you.

arriving from Montreal via American Airlines, terminal 8, leaving from terminal 4 via Emirate Airlines 90 min later, how do I connect

ZAP were your tickets bought on the same reservation? If not you need to book an earlier flight on American - you will not have enough time for your connection. You get between the two terminals via the JFK AirTrain/Air Terminals train which runs outside security. 90 minutes is not enough time to claim bags from American, take the AirTrain, check in with Emirates, and go through security, especially considering that JFK is very delay-prone.

  • Raleigh to Amsterdam via JFK

Hi, I will be travelling to Amsterdam via JFK soon. My flight operated by Delta should arrive in at 14.56 on a saturday and my connecting flight also operated by delta leaves at 16.40. I am first time solo flyer so am a bit scared of connections! Im wondering if that is enough time to be able to do it successfully, and what steps I need to go through to have a smooth transition? I am from the UK if that helps (or hinders) Thanks!

You will arrive in Terminal 2 and depart from Terminal 4. Delta runs a shuttle bus that runs inside security between these two terminals. All you will have to do is take the shuttle bus between the two terminals and go to your gate. You should have enough time.

Thanks for your help (on both my questions) - From your response I won't have to get my baggage (or go through customs, presumably because the flight is from the US to the US)?

Yes, you won't have to do anything with your baggage in JFK and that is the reason why.

    Thanks for your help

  • Connection from Emirates(International) to Delta (Domestic)
    Oct 29, 2013

Hi- My parents are travelling to US next week in Emirates and reaching JFK at 1:30 PM. They have a connection flight to Pittsburgh at 19:30 through Delta in Terminal 2( DL 2931). The ticket is booked in a single booking. So i have couple of questions a) can my parents drop the checkin baggage in the delta counter outside the international terminal? b) Is there an option for airline assistance which they can opt to take from International terminal to DElta terminal as they are travelling first time Thanks in advance

Delta will not have a counter in Terminal 1, however, if their bags are checked through to PIT they can drop their bags at the International re-check desk after they clear customs in T1. Emirates will probably have someone greeting the flight who can probably get them directions to Terminal 2 in their native language. They will also have to get their Delta boarding passes once they get to T2.

  • T4 to terminal t2 delta conections from uk to canada

Hi I'm traveling with delta from the uk to Canada Quebec. I have to change in jfk. I land at t4 at 16.10 and my flight to Quebec leaves from t4 at 1800. I will have checked bags. Is this enough time and what the quickest way to get from t4 to t2 ? Thanks for the help

Sorry ment to say arrives t4 departs t2

On arrival at JFK you will need to go through passport check, pick up your bags, go through customs clearance & re-check-in your bag where indicated. The Delta shuttle bus will take you to Terminal 2. You have enough time.

Alternatively, since you will already be outside security after re-checking your bag, you take the AirTrain to T2 and go back through security there.

  • do I have to take an airtrain from termenal 4 to termenal 1?

Hello there I'll be flighing from mco to jfk and arrive at 2:14 pm then I have to collect lagages and head to termenal 1 to cach a flight on the saudia airlines how would I transfer please? Do I have to take an airtrain with my bags? Help please and thanks alot.

I forgot to mention I will be arriving with delta from termenal 4 then to termenal 1 thanks

Your MCO-JFK flight may actually arrive in Terminal 2. If your tickets were bought on separate reservations, yes, you will have to claim your bags in Terminal 4 or 2 (probably 2), then take them on the Airtrain to Terminal 1 to check them with Saudia. The Airtrain is the only way to get between these terminals.

Thank you so much for you reply..appreciated
