Travelling from MAD (Iberia/American), a 2hour layover at JFK, then to YUL (American) . Will b in JFK on a Sat afternoon in August. One ticket. Do we need to claim bagage, and then check again if final destination is in Montreal? Is 2 hours enough? Thx!

Yes, you will arrive in Terminal 7 if your flight from MAD is operated by Iberia, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the transfer desk, then take the AirTrain one stop to Terminal 8, go through security and to your departure gate. You will go through Canadian Immigration and Customs in Montreal. If your flight from Madrid is operated by American, then everything will be in Terminal 8.

I will arrive on Feb28 at 10:45pm, from Mexico AEROMEXICO (Term 1). My other flight is at 12:50am March01 from JKF-Hong Kong by CATHAY PACIFIC (Term 7). Is my first time on JFK Airport. Do you think i have enough time? I bought the flights in the same ticket, should I have any problem if I lose a flight? What should I do to avoid this and achieve my trip? Should I contact both Airlines?

Yes, that should be enough time if your first flight is on-time. Immigration hall should be empty at that time and you'll be able to drop your bags at the transfer desk in T1 after clearing customs. Then you'll take the AirTrain from T1 to T7, get your Cathay boarding pass if you don't already have it, then go through security.

Hello, we should arrive from DC with Delta ( terminal 4?) at 11:40 and then we have flight with Aeroflot ( terminal1?) at 14:20, is it enough time for the connection? These flights are under one ticket. Thanks!

You could arrive at Terminal 2 or 4. Yes, you will depart at Terminal 1. That should be plenty of time. All you have to do is take the AirTrain from T2 or 4 to T1 and go through security.

  • Luggage Handling between two airlines (tickets bought separately)

I am looking to fly from ATL to JFK on one ticket, then JFK to HNL on another ticket. The flight lands in JFK at 9:25am; the flight takes off from JFK at 10:00am. Is there enough time in this airport to make this connection? Will the luggage automatically be forwarded to HNL, or do I need to pick it up and recheck in at JFK? Thanks you

NO! On separate tickets that is not enough time for your connection.

We are arriving JFK from SFO on American Airlines with just over an hour to make our flight to Rome with carry-on luggage, will we have enough time to make our flight? This is one itinerary booked through America Airlines.

Yes, that should be plenty of time. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate, both in Terminal 8.

Is there a terminal map of JFK that we refer to? And are incoming domestic and outgoing international flights located in the same terminal?

All american airlines flights are in the same terminal - Terminal 8. Here is a map of T8. http://www.ifly.com/john-f-kennedy-international-airport/JFK-Terminal-8

  • Connection terminal for Delta Airlines to Columbus from JFK

I will be landing at JFK through emirates airlines from Dubai and have a connection flight to columbus Ohio via delta airlines. Is there a special chekin point in the same terminal where emirates operates for Delta for transferrnig my checked in baggages to the Delta flight to columbus or is it a different building. Please confirm the procedure for the same.

Did you purchase your tickets together or separately? You will arrive in Terminal 4. There is a Delta check in counter in Terminal 4 if you have to re-check your bags after clearing customs and your bags are tagged through to CMH. However, your flight to CMH may depart from Terminal 2, Delta operates a shuttle bus inside security from T4 to T2 if that's the case.

I have a delta flight from denver that lands at 16:30 and then flight with virgin flight to london that leaves at 18:30. Both flights had the tickets bought separately. So question is will i have enough time ?

You should barely have enough time if your first flight is on-time.

We have 3h 15 min time to change terminal, what are we expected to to with luggage, security and check-in? Only concern is do we have enough time, fligts are at separate tickets /Delta/Finnair). Many thanks in advance from first-timer at JFK

Yes, that should be enough time. You should be at T8 with your bags within 45 minutes of your arrival in T4.

I am travelling from south africa to via jfk san francisco on emirates arriving 2 15 and next flight leaves 4 30 pm on virgin. is it enough time.

Did you purchase your tickets separately or together? If together that should be enough time. Both flights will be in Terminal 4 and you will be able to re-check your bags at the transfer desk after clearing customs.

  • 2 hours 50 minutes enough for Connection?

Our Asiana flight arrives at 9:40AM from Korea, we have 2hr 50min before our 12:30PM Delta flight to RDU. Is this enough time? We booked the tickets separately. Traveling with two young kids and we will have checked baggage. It looked like the recommendation was 3hr 30min for connection Internation:Domestic, so I was wondering if I should switch to the later 4:30PM flight to RDU

Considering you are on separate tickets that definitely will be difficult. I wouldn't say impossible though.

Even though both flights are in Terminal 4? Thanks for the advice!

On second through I'd go ahead and try it. Worst case you will be out of Customs at like 10:50 or 11:00. That still leaves you over an hour and a half to check your bags with Delta and get to your gate. Go for it.

  • Connecting flight in JFK

Got an American Airlines flight from Helsinki (originally flying from Lithuania) that connects in JFK to another American Airlines flight to Las Vegas - layover time - 1 hr 35 min - is that enough time to connect between terminals (if needed) and do I have to undergo all the procedures with luggage claim/re-check in? Thank you.

You will arrive in Terminal 8, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then re-check your bags at the transfer desk, then go to the departure level, go through security and to your departure gate, also in Terminal 8. You should have enough time if your flight is on-time but not much to spare if there are delays.

I have never flied to USA so have no idea how long the immigration, etc takes. Could anyone please tell me if it will be enough time to catch an international flight from terminal 1 at 10:15 pm if arriving by Jet blue from St. Lucia at 6:59 pm to terminal 5?

Yes, that should be enough time. If you purchased your tickets together and your bags are checked to your final destination, you can re-check your bags after clearing customs at the re-check desk in Terminal 5, otherwise you will have to take them with you on the airtrain to Terminal 1 and check them at the counter of your second airline.

Got a flight with Delta to JFK T4 and then connecting flight to Santo Domingo 2 hours later - do we need to collect luggage and go through immigration at JFK?

Yes, you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the transfer desk, and then go through security and to your departure gate.

  • DELTA CONNECTION JFK SFO
    Feb 6, 2015

We are Belgian and German citizens. We booked on ONE ticket for September 3, 2015 from Brussels DL 43 to JFK arriving at 1:04 pm at terminal 4 and connecting flight DL 1370 at 2:30 pm to San Francisco at terminal 2. Is it correct that we have to go through immigration, collect bags (already tagged to SFO), go through custom, recheck bags, take air train to terminal 2, go through security ? Is this possible in 1h26 minutes (according to DL they respect the minimum connection time) ? If we miss our connection, is DL responsible for having us on the following plane without extra charge for us ? If yes, where can we find the written rule ? If we get our plane, what is the chance that our bags are on time in SFO ? Thanks to all from a worried passenger!

Both of your flights will be in Terminal 4. You have the process correct but you do not have to go to Terminal 2. If you miss your connection due to a delayed inbound flight you will be rebooked on the next available flight to SFO with no additional charge. 1 hr 26 mins is actually 4 minutes below the minimum time.

If we miss our connection not due to a delayed inbound flight but for example because we have to queue a long time for immigration formalities, does DL also have to rebook us on the next available flight to SFO with no additional charge. As we have 4 minutes below the minimum time can we ask DL now to book us on the next flight with no additional charge ? Where can I find the minimum connection time ? Thank you very much for your answer.

Landing Delta from Brazil (I don´t know which terminal) departing 2 hours later to Seattle (I don´t know which terminal). Have to take the train or shuttle?

Both of your flights are in Terminal 4. When you arrive in Terminal 4 you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the transfer desk, go up to the departure level, go through security and to your departure gate.
