I am flying from MCO to JFK via JetBlue and will arrive at 11:54 a.m. at terminal 5 and have a connecting flight with Etihad to Abh Dhabi that departs at 3:00 from terminal 4. How long will it take to switch terminals and go through security again?
You have plenty of time.
Similar case but flying in from Boston to JFK (Jetblue) arriving at 12:58 PM before Etihad flight to Abu Dhabi at 3 pm. Do I have to go through security check again?
Hi, I will be arriving to JFK at 3:15pm on American Airlines and have another flight leaving on Delta to Paris at 5:35pm. Will I have enough time to get to my Delta flight? Also, do I have to go through security again at JFK or am I able to just go from Terminal 8 (AA) to Terminal 4 (Delta)?
Yes, you will have to go through security again in T4. That is a very difficult connection - nearly impossible if you have checked baggage.
Ok, thanks. I will not have any checked bags. Do you recommend me walking (fast) from terminal to terminal or taking the airport shuttle?
We are flying American Airlines to JFK on Sept 29th arriving at 3:12 PM. We depart at 5:20 PM on American to Rome. I know 2 hours should be adequate but I've been advised JFK will delay landings if there is any bad weather. Also is the International departure in a Terminal with a shuttle within the Security area or will we have to go through security again?
All you have to do in JFK is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, both in Terminal 8.
I'll be transiting through JFK Terminal 4 -- London -> JFK -> Cincinnati. Is anyone able to walk me through exactly what will happen?
The impression I got so far from reading various things, I have to: 1) de-plane 2) go through immigration 3) pick up baggage --> is this in the same area as those arriving or is there some special area for those in transit? --> Will I be going out into the arrival area like any other arriving (not transiting) passenger? 4) go somewhere to drop off baggage --> where do I go to do this? Should I look for signs for Transfers/Transits or 'Departures'? 5) then onto departure gate.
Or is the process different because I'll be in the same terminal the whole time?
Thank you very much for any advice.
Yes, you will go to the same arrival area as everyone. The drop off area is right after you clear customs.
Thank you very much for your help. Really appreciated. :-)
I am flying Cathay Pacific Airways from Hong Kong via JFK to Orlando. It is one reservation through Cathay Pacific. We will be flying Cathay Pacific from HK to JFK, however, the connecting flight from JFK to Orlando will be American Airline. I understand I will need to go through immigration check point. Since there is a connecting flight in the same reservation, do I have to claim my baggage? And if I do, how can I check back in? Thanks in advance.
Yes, you will still have to claim your bags to go through US Customs in JFK. Then you will re-check it at the re-check desk, take the AirTrain to Terminal 8, and go through security.
I am trying to book a flight between Mexico and St Martin's and one of the options is 2 flights, both on Delta, that connect via JFK. Should I factor in the time to go through customs when arriving from Mexico or can I avoid the time needed for customs since I will be jumping on a connecting international flight? Thank you
You will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through security and to your departure gate. You need at least 2.5 hours
