I am arriving on a Delta flight tomorrow (T2) at 8 and meeting someone who is arriving from London at 9 into T7 (I think)...is there any way I can walk from T2 to T7 to meet him at his gate or do I need to meet him in the arrival area? If I need to just meet him in the arrival area of T7, do I walk there from T2 and where is a good meeting place?

You can't walk but you can take the AirTrain. Yes, you can meet him on the arrivals level of T7 at the exit of customs.

  • T4 to T8 with 3h layover

Hi. I'm arriving at T4 with Swiss at 1 pm at JFK, leaving with AA at T8 4 pm. So that would mean 3h layover, which i hope should be fine. However, the inbound flight was usually delayed in the past few days for about 1h. What would be the minimum transfer time i would need? Do i have to reclaim my baggage? Thank you, much appreciated.

Yes, you will need to claim your baggage to go through US Customs. If you purchased all your tickets together and your bags are checked to your final destination, you can re-check your bags in T4. Otherwise you will have to take them to T8 to re-check at the AA counter. Minimum connection time is about 100 minutes with tickets purchased together and about 2 hours if not.

Thank you ZAP, very much appreciated! Have a nice day

Hi we are traveling from toronto to jfk via delta arriving at 755 pm (Thursday) we then have a seperate ticket on ethiad from JFK to Abu Dhabi departing at 955 pm (same night)Both flights are from terminal 4 and we have no checked baggage . 1) will we clear immigration in canada? 2) do we need to clear security again at JFK or can we just walk over to the next gate as we will have our e boarding passes 3) will we have to do any thing else at JFK (ie customs, recheckin, immigration) 4) if we do have to re check in we have 2 hours 5 minutes layover is that enough? Note: these are seperate tickets that we bought from two different websites

Yes, you will pre-clear US Immigration in Canada. No, you do not have to go through security in JFK if you already have your boarding passes. And yes, if you do need to go to the Etihad counter outside security you should have enough time.

previous question i forgot to include next flight is to spain

Yes, you still have a good chance of making it. All you have to do is walk from your arriving flight to your departing flight.

thank you, I didn't know if they would need time to go through more security being it was an international flight

Will 1 hour 20 minutes be enough time to get from terminal 8 to terminal 1 for an international connection? I'm flying Japan Airways but the flight from Boston says operated by American... Will I have to go through security at JFK too?

Yes, you should have enough time if your first flight is on-time. Yes, you will have to go through security again when you get to Terminal 1 for your JAL flight.

    Thanks ZAP!

I am flying to Hyd (India) from Minneapolis via JFK-single e-ticket where they are going to issue boarding pass all the way. I have layover 2 h for changing from domestic flight delta (T2) to international flight emirates (T4) at JFK. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

Yes, that should be enough time. Delta even operates a shuttle bus inside security between T2 and T4.

which one is better? air train or delta shuttle bus inside security. I heard bad about delta shuttle bus.

Shuttle bus is pretty much always faster.

im travelling from miami to barcelona. Having to do a 1:25 layover at jfk. Both flights are in terminal 8. Will I have time to change planes?

Yes, that should be plenty of time. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

That is not really enough time.

  • Is 1:40 h enough to transfer from Terminal 8 to 1 (intl. connection)

we are transferring on Sunday from Terminal 8 to Terminal one, connecting from AA to Turkish Airlines. Will time for immigration, picking up and rechecking bags and taking the train to T8 be enough for our family to catch our connection flight with Turkish?

It's really pushing it. To make it to T1 on time your flight will have to be on-time and your bags come out pretty quick. Is your AA flight domestic or international? If it's international you have no chance of making it.

  • International -> Domestic Connection time

Hello, I'm arriving to JFK on a Korea Air flight this Thursday, scheduled to land at 10AM. I then need to make a connection to Boston Logan, and am wondering how much time it is safe to have between the arrival of the international flight and the departure of the domestic flight to Boston. I have to go through immigration as alien, and then pick up my bags. I'm planning to reserve the domestic flight with American Airlines, which has departures in terminal 8. Would 2:40 hours be enough, or should I get more time in between?

2 hr 40 minutes is sort of pushing what's possible. There are lots of flights from JFK to Boston. Choose one a little later.

  • Transfer to Royal Air Maron

We are arriving JFK from CLT on USAir. Will transfer to Royal Air Maroc with only 2.5 hour layover. Will that be enough time? Thanks.

It's enough time, but your first flight has to be on-time and you have to hurry on the AirTrain from T8 to T1.

Thanks for the quick response, ZAK. Can we save time by walking from T8 to T1?

Hello. I am planning on buying tickets separately. First flight from MEX to JFK arrives at JFK 15:30 pm. Is it doable to get a flight to Düsseldorf (DUS) at 21:25 pm. Would that be enough time to go through Customs, get baggage check in again, etc.? I have no experience with international connecting flights. Thank you for any answer!!

Yes, that should be enough time. You will be out of customs by 16:30 at the latest, so that leaves plenty of time to take the AirTrain to your departure terminal, check-in, and go through security.

we are arriving from yul on delta terminal 2 with a transfert delat terminal 4. will we have enough time or should we stress?

That should be enough time if your first flight is on-time. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. Delta runs a shuttle bus between T2 and T4 inside security.
