  • Connection domestic - international JFK

Hi, when having both domestic flight and connecting in JFK terminal 8, do you need to go through security and passport control again?

You do not go through US passport control when leaving the US. You also won't have to go through security again. You just have to walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

  • Flying from ATL - JFK - CDG 1 hour and 50 Min connection all on Delta

Is one hour and fifty minutes enough time to connect to CDG in JFK all on Delta

Yes, that should be plenty of time. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. If you arrive in Terminal 2, delta runs a shuttle bus inside security to Terminal 4 where your flight to CDG will depart.

  • t4 to t8, how long to get to t8 arrivals?

im arriving myself at t4 and need to meet some friends at t8 arrivals, how long should it take me to get there? thanks

The ride on the airtrain is about 10 minutes, so you could be at t8 arrivals maybe 20 minutes after you arrive at the gate if you don't have checked bags and are arriving on a domestic flight. Checked bags or an international flight would obviously be longer.

I do have checked bags and I need to go through inmigration...but so do the friends I'm meeting at t8 plus they get there 30 min after me. So I guess meeting them won't be an issue. Thanks

  • Barbados Via JFK to Johannesburg

I'm flying from BGI Barbados on Jet Blue landing at 759am at Terminal 5 JFK. I need to catch a flight at 1115am at Terminal 4 to Johannesburg. Will I have enough time to catch the Johannesburg flight? Many Thanks

That should be enough time. If you purchased separate tickets and your flight is on-time, you will be out of customs by like 9 AM, so that still leaves you over 2 hours before your flight to get to T4 check in, go through security, and to your gate.

  • AF arrive at T1 to Delta depart at T4

On a AF 10 arrival in T1 from CDG and heading to LAX on Delta 427. What will the transfer require

You will arrive in T1, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then re-check your bags at the transfer desk, then take the AirTrain to T4, then go through security and to your departure gate. Leave at least 2 hours for your connection.

Hi I have 70mins to connect from T2 to T4 to make a KLM flight to Amsterdam. Is this enough time? Flight to from DEN to JFK was moved 20 mins earlier....

That should be enough time. Delta runs a shuttle bus between T2 and T4 inside security, but there's a good chance your flight to JFK will actually arrive in T4.

  • Enough time at JFK between flights?

I'm coming from San Diego to Dublin in April and there is a one hour time between my domestic and international flights, is that enough time at JFK? My bags will be already checked thru to Dublin.

Yes, that should be enough time.

  • Can we make it from Boston arrival to Brussels departure in 40 min?
    Jan 6, 2015

We'll depart Boston at 5:30, arriving at JFK T4 1 hr. 20 min later. Flight to Brussels departs from T4 at 7:30. It says we have 40 minutes to disembark and get to the Brussels gate. Will we have time? No idea which gates and it's a long terminal

It is enough time, barely, if your first flight is on-time, but leaves nothing to spare for delays and unfortunately delays at JFK are common.

  • T7 to T1 in 1h 18m

We arrive to JFK from Toronto at T1 and leave from T7 for Munich. The layover is 1h 18m. Will that be enough time to make it? Do we need to go though security again? (I don't think we need to claim/check our bags again).

You have your terminals reversed. If you are flying Air Canada to JFK you will arrive in T7 and if you are flying Lufthansa to Munich you will depart from T1. You will pre-clear US Immigration and customs in Toronto. You will take the AirTrain from T7 to T1 and then go through security. You barely have enough time if your first flight is on-time.

Thank you for the reply. Yes, I got my terminals mixed up, sorry about that. Well...hopefully we will somehow make it...if not, I guess we'll visit New York.

If you miss your connection Lufthansa can probably reroute you to Munich through Frankfurt. They have a JFK-FRA flight that leaves at 10:10 PM.

  • minimum connecting time and procedure

I am arriving with El Al from TLV on JAN15 at 06.00 a.m. and would like to connect to FLL. what is the minimum connecting time? what do I need to do if I do not have a boarding card yet for the onward domestic flight. I am travelling on standby since I am an airline employee. How do I get from one terminal to the other? ossible connections with VX and B6 or DL. thanks in advance

The AirTrain connects all terminals outside security. DL uses T2 and T4. VX uses T4, B6 uses T5. Since VX only has one JFK-FLL flight a day and it is at 8 AM I don't think you will have time to make it. You have a better chance of making it on a B6 flight since they have bigger aircraft and more frequent flights. However, it is very hard to get on flights to South Florida during the winter, especially travelling as an OA standby, so you might be in NY for awhile

I am going delhi to seattle by airfrance (single e-ticket) and have two stops one at CDG airport paris (layover time 7 hr) and other at JFK (layover time 1hr 50 min). Since newyork is first port of entry for me in USA, so I have to clear the customs at JFK airport itself. The arrival flight at JFK is on Terminal 1 while the departure flight to seattle is from Terminal 4. I have 1 hr 50 min connection time at JFK. will it be enough ? The flight from newyork to seattle is operated jointly by delta airlines and airfrance.

That should be barely enough time to make your connection if your flight from Paris is on-time. After you clear customs you will re-check your bags at the transfer desk in T1, then take the AirTrain to T4, go through security and to your departure gate.

Arriving in JFK T4 from Brazil with connection to LAX at T4 on a single e-ticket, single airline. Layover time 1 hr 35 min. We were told by the airlines that luggage would go straight from Brazil to LAX, but don't we have to pass through customs at first point of entry (JFK)? We have 6 suitcases - would we have to claim them, go through customs and re-check?

Yes, you will have to claim them, go through US Customs, then re-check them at the transfer desk in JFK.

Thanks for the reply! Do we claim them at the normal baggage claim area, having to go through security again or is there a special baggage claim and recheck within the same secured area that we deplane? Thank you!

There is a special international baggage claim in between US Immigration and US Customs and then a re-check desk immediately after. Then you will have to go through security and to your departure gate.

  • DUS to JFK to CLT

We are coming into JFK on AB and then going on to CLT via Us Airways. These are booked on separate tickets. AB is arriving in T8 and IS is scheduled to depart from T8. Is a 2 hr connection doable with only carry on?

Yes, that should be enough time.

I am arriving on a Delta flight tomorrow (T2) at 8 and meeting someone who is arriving from London at 9 into T7 (I think)...is there any way I can walk from T2 to T7 to meet him at his gate or do I need to meet him in the arrival area? If I need to just meet him in the arrival area of T7, do I walk there from T2 and where is a good meeting place?

You can't walk but you can take the AirTrain. Yes, you can meet him on the arrivals level of T7 at the exit of customs.
