  • JetBlue Bag check in

Easy question I hope. Does JetBlue have a bag check in at Terminal 4 arrivals after Customs? Time isn't an issue I hope since I have about 5 hours between my SQ flight to B6.

If your bags are already tagged to JetBlue then you can re-check them in T4 after customs. If not then you will have to take them with you to T5 and re-check them.

Unfortunately they are on separate tickets. No problem. I need the walk plus T5 seems to be a much nicer terminal.

  • Luggage from delta airlines to aerolineas argentinas airlines

I have to fly into JFK from Detroit on Delta Airlines and then transfer to Aerolineas Argentinas airlines to Buenos Aires. The flight is on the same ticket - will my luggage be transferred automatically or will I have to pick up my luggage from Delta and then recheck it in with Aerolineas Argentinas?

Yes, your bags should be transferred for you, however you will have to take the AirTrain to Terminal 7 and go through security.

  • Can I enter Terminal 5 to meet family, if my flight leaves from T4 ?

Grandchildren are arriving T5 from Hawaiian airlines. I need to meet them at gate, and then proceed to T4 for Delta flight to final destination. Am I allowed to enter T5 if my outbound flight is T4?

    No, you will not be.

ZAP is wrong. If you can convince the JetBlue agents in T5 to give you a gate pass, you can meet them at the gate. Arrive at the airport early and explain your situation.

  • Connecting flight from CLT to MAD
    Mar 28, 2016

Hi, I'm about to book tickets through Expedia to fly with American Airlines from CLT to MAD, with a layover at JFK. I have the option of booking the flights with a layover at JFK of either 2 or 4 hours. I will be travelling with a kid and do not relish the thought of a 4 hour layover at JFK and the subsequent complaints of boredom, but at the same time, 2 hours seems like it might be cutting it a little close if I have to go through security, etc. again. The tickets I plan to buy are all with American Airlines and on the same reservation. Do you think that 2 hours is enough to make the connecting flight coming into JFK from CLT and connecting with the flight to Madrid? I will be travelling on a Saturday in June, and the flight for Madrid leaves at 7:00 pm. Also, will I have to collect my baggage and recheck it, change terminals, or go through security again once I arrive at JFK?  From what I saw on JFK's site with respect to the terminals, it looks like all of American Airlines' flights, both domestic and international, arrive and depart from Terminal 8, so I'm assuming that I won't have to change terminals via the Air Train. Is this correct?

On your way to Madrid all you have to do in JFK is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. If both flights are operated by AA they will both be in Terminal 8. 2 hours is enough time.

Ok, thanks so much for your help ZAP!

ZAP, sorry to bother you again, but it turns out that the flight I wanted to take from JFK to Madrid is actually operated by Iberia, which I understand would mean I'd have to change terminals (from 8 to 7), which I'd like to avoid. American Airlines is offering me flight 1972 from CLT that arrives at JFk at 17:59 and connecting flight AA 94 that leaves JFK for Madrid at 19:00. Is an hour enough time to make that connection? I'm assuming it is, as you've mentioned I won't have to go through security, etc., and just walk from one gate to the other, but I'm also concerned about our bags, as we'll definitely be checking in suitcases. Do you think an hour is enough time to catch the connecting flight and for the suitcases to be transferred? Otherwise, I'll just have to bite the bullet and do the 4 hour layover. Thanks again for your insight.

Yes, an hour would be enough time, but it doesn't leave much time to spare if the flight to JFK is delayed.

Ok, that's what I figured. Thanks again for your help!

  • Connecting between SA Airways and Delta
    Apr 6, 2016

I arrive SA Airways from Jburg to JFK at 6:40 am. Can I make a Delta flight 2 hours later? other option is to transfer to LGA. I'm flying Biz Class on SA airways and have GOES fast passport check. It is the luggage I'm concnered about

On two separate itineraries I think that would be impossible.

What terminal does your Delta flight depart from? If it's T4, you'll probably make your connection with Global Entry (presumably that's what you mean by GOES fast passport check). If it's T2, it'll be a harder connection but still doable because Delta has an airside shuttle from T4 to T2, meaning you won't need to leave security. MAKE SURE ONCE YOUR PASS CUSTOMS AT JFK, DO NOT LEAVE SECURITY! Follow signs to return to gates and then get on the shuttle: The T4 shuttle stops are located at B18 and B54 (NEW). The T2 shuttle stop is located at C60. Good luck!

  • Qatar to Delta

Hello, I'm just doing some research before booking my tickets. I would be arriving on a Qatar Airways flight from DOH-JFK at 9:15am which if I'm correct arrives in T8. I would then catch a Delta flight to Toronto YYZ at 3:45pm. The QR flight and DL flight will not on the same reservation as they will be booked separately. My questions are: What terminal would the Delta flight be out of? Is it T4? Am I correct in thinking that 6.5 hours is sufficient for me to clear US Immigration, pick up my luggage from my QR flight, switch terminals, check in again at DL counters, go through T4 security etc? How would I transfer from T8 to T4? After grabbing my bag, exit the terminal and catch the AirTrain to T4? Thank you in advance for answering my questions.

Yes, that should be plenty of time. Yes, your flight to Toronto will likely depart from Terminal 4. Yes, you will have to take your bags with you on the AirTrain to re-check them with Delta in T4.

Thank you ZAP. I will be flying Business Class with QR, when I'm re-checking with Delta they are going to charge me for baggage fees because it's a separate ticket. Is there anything that would get me past the fees considering that I flew in business class on a long haul international flight just a few hours prior? Thank you.

No, the fact that you gave a completely different airline more money on a completely separate ticket will not get you out of paying bag fees on Delta.

  • American to Etihad

I'm flying on December 10th arriving on American Airlines 4196 from RDU and need to connect to Etihad 102 to AUH. The inbound is scheduled to arrive at 11:58 AM and the outbound departs at 2:30 PM. I think I will have to change terminals from 8 to 4, will this be enough time? Will my bags be checked through?

If both tickets are on the same reservation then your bags will be checked through. If not you will have to claim them and take them to T4 to re-check. You will have to go through security again when you get to T4. You should have enough time as long as the flight from RDU is on-time.

  • Montreal to San Juan

I will be flying on April 29: Montreal to JFK to San Juan on Delta. I'm I right to say I will pre-clear US Immigration in Montreal, will not need to pick-up my checked bag and will only need to proceed to departure gate (both in same terminal?) ? I'll have 1h45m between flights).

Yes, you won't have to do anything with your bags at JFK. You will arrive in Terminal 4. Some flights to SJU depart from Terminal 4 while some depart from Terminal 2. if your flight departs from Terminal 2 you just have to take a shuttle bus inside security there. You should have enough time.

  • Delta?

I'm in CLE waiting to depart to JFK, late. Will arrive at 7:06p.m. Delta website ways T4, Gate B46 and I need to get to my flight to London leaving at 8:30. Delta website says T4 but someone said that domestic flights don't land at T4. Do they? Enough time?

Delta Connection flights like yours arrive in Terminal 4. This is a somewhat recent change (within the last year). All you should have to do at JFK is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

  • Changing terminals at JFK

Arriving from England at T4 (Delta) and then 2 hrs later on to Orlando T2 (Delta) Will we have to collects luggage and go thro security again

Yes, you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, take the AirTrain to Terminal 2, go through security and to your departure gate. You have just enough time if everything goes smoothly.

Hi, If I fly from Amsterdam to Montreal (Canada) and have a correspondence in JFK. Do I need to pick-up my checked bag and go through security again? Thank you!

Yes, you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, and go through security. If you are an EU citizen you need to complete ESTA before your trip.

  • Terminal 4 transfer

April 7 , my parents from Guangzhou to JFK, arrive at T4 at 5;10am, 2hr late, they need to take fly to Toronto, westjet airline, T4. Please advise whether they need to go to security custom, or they only stay at Terminal 4 to wait for another fly. your clear answer will helpful. thanks!

In JFK they will go through US Immigration, claim their bags, go through US Customs, re-check their bags a the re-check desk if they are tagged to YYZ, then go through security and to their departure gate (westjet does not fly from JFK to Toronto, so that flight is likely on Delta). They need US Transit visas if they are Chinese citizens. They have just enough time if everything goes smoothly.

Travel agency company advised the luggage is directly to Toronto, they need not to claim luggage in States. As they arrive in Terminal 4, and departure at Terminal 4. I checked the JFK airline, it is show Westject in Terminal 4. Any body can verify this points? My parents have USA visa and Canada visa. China Citizenship, they are 83year old. Therefore, clear information is very important for us,thanks!

Your travel agency is 100% wrong and clearly doesn't know much about transiting in the United States. I can without a doubt tell you that they will have to claim their bags and that Westjet doesn't fly from JFK to Toronto.

  • From terminal 5 to Terminal 1

I fly from Toronto to JFK to pick my son, my fly will arrive at T5, my son from Shanghai to JFK, arrive T1, he is 14 yrs old, I need meet him in T1, then we will take another fly to Toronto at same day. I don't know how to go to T1 when I arrive T5 without any security checking. Can I allow to take inter-airtrain to go to T1 directly?

No, your flight will not arrive in Terminal 5. No flights from Toronto arrive in Terminal 5. What airline are you flying? The AirTrain runs outside security. Terminal 1 is not connected to any other terminals inside security. Also, you will have to meet him outside security anyway since after he clears customs he will be outside security.

  • Will we have time to swap over?
    Mar 23, 2016

We are flying from South Africa via Dubai on an Emirates flight. Due to land at JFK at 14h15 on 17th May 2016 at Terminal 4. Our next flight is to JAX on JetBlue at 15h45 from Terminal 5. We will be swapping over as the JetBlue tickets are not on the same reservation. We will have baggage which we will need to collect and transfer to the JetBlue flight

No, that's not enough time with tickets on two separate reservations. You need to book a later flight to JAX.

I have already booked the flights. What will it cost to change? Is there a flight soon after that one?

You will have to check with Jetblue. You should have researched this BEFORE buying tickets.

Hello I'm travelling from Lome, Togo to New York (on Ethopia Airlines) where I will board another plane to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico (on AeroMexico). I have 2 hours to make the connection. I don't need to check a bag. Do I have enough time to change planes, find the gates and all that jazz? I will also be doing the same trip in reverse the week after.

With no checked bags you barely have enough time if everything goes perfectly. I personally would want more time.
