  • Is the lay over time enough to catch my flight?
    Jun 6, 2016
I am traveling on BA from LHR arrivung at JFK at 13.55. Do I have enough time to catch my AA flight at 17.05? What is the average time i can spend at immigration, baggage claim and customs? Thank you

That should be plenty of time.

  • Quebec City to New York Connections
    Jun 6, 2016
Hi, we are travelling business class on Australian passports from Quebec City to JFK on Delta, with a 2 hour layover in JFK connecting to a flight to LA and onto to Brisbane. Can we do pre clearance in Quebec City or do we have to do in JFK?

Quebec City does not have preclarance. You will have to go through US Immigration and customs in JFK.

  • connections and time

I will arrive in NY Jet Blue June 14 from Charlestn at 12:41. I have a connecting flight Meridiana at 3:00 p.m. I will check my luggage. Is there enough time between flights? Where are the respective terminals? Thanks GDL

You will arrive in Terminal 5 and depart from Terminal 1. Assuming you purchased two separate reservations, you will have to claim your bags from Terminal 5, take them on the AirTrain to Terminal 1, and re-check them with Meridiana and go through security. You have just enough time.

  • 1h 40min between terminal 4 & 2, will I have enough time?
    Jun 5, 2016
I'll arrive from Copenhagen(DK) to JFK at terminal 4. Then I have to baggage claim and check-in to go to my connection flight at terminal 2. Can I get some help or do I have enough time to my connecting flight? (Tickets already bought with Delta/ Air France) About how long will the baggage claim and the check-in take?

If both tickets are on the same reservation you can just re-check your bags at the re-check desk right after clearing customs in T4, then go through security and take the shuttle to T2 or take the airtrain to T2 and go through security there. You have just enough time.

  • JFK to GIG
    Jun 4, 2016
I am travelling on an American Airlines flight operated by British Airways arriving in JFK at 19:30 Saturday, Terminal 7 then having to transfer to American Airlines flight to GIG from Terminal 8 at 21:40. British Airways and American Airlines have an agreement so I don't have to check in again and luggage is supposed to be labelled for GIG, but I am told that I have to collect it and hand it over to customs without checking it in in Terminal 8. Airline says 2 hours is sufficient transfer time, is this correct? Has anyone heard of handing luggage over to customs and not a check in desk?

Yes, in Terminal 7 you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then take the AIrTrain to Terminal 8 and go through security. There is a desk right after customs specifically for this purpose.

  • Arriving from Iceland
    Jun 4, 2016
I am arriving from Reykjavik at 19:00 and need to board my Delta flight to Syracuse at 21:10...is that time enough to get through security and change terminals and check in?

Is your flight from Iceland on IcelandAir or Delta? Do you have checked bags?

IcelandAir and yes i would have

If you haven't bought this yet I wouldn't. If you already have it will be very very difficult.

I booked the Delta flight to Syracuse but managed to cancel it for a full refund so if i try for the 22:55 JetBlue flight will that be better?

Yes, that would be a much better idea.

  • Connecting via JFK
    Jun 7, 2016
I'm flying in to JFK from LHR by AA at 18:05 in T8 and my flight to SFO departs at 20:00 from the same terminal. Will I have enough time for immigration, customs and baggage recheck?

Yes, that should be just about enough time.

Thanks Zap! This will involve two separate airlines/tickets. Does that make a big difference?

  • International to domestic connection
    Jun 3, 2016
I will arrive from Brazil by AA at 06:20AM (T8) and I have to catch a flight from Delta at 11:00AM to Orlando (T2). How can I do to transit between the terminals? Where is the airtrain in both terminals?

The airtrain runs outside security - it is a fairly long walk along covered walkways from the entrance to T2 but it is fairly close to T8. You should have enough time.

  • Transit Visa at JKF Terminal 4

I have a Guyanese passport, do I need a visa to transit in JFK Terminal 4

Yes, you need a US Transit Visa.

  • domestic to international connection

I will arrive from San diego at 3:15 pm by delta airline , and I have to catch a flight from KLM to amesteram at 5:45 pm , I have only a carry on bag , should I go through TSA again , can I make it ?

You will arrive in Terminal 2 or 4 and depart from Terminal 4. If you arrive in Terminal 2, Delta runs a shuttle bus inside security to Terminal 4. You do not have to go through security. You have plenty of time.

  • MEX to YUL (2:20 hour connection time in JFK)
    Jun 2, 2016
Hi, I will be landing in JFK from MEX at 7:20am on a Sunday. I have a connection flight to YUL on Delta at 9:40am. I am Canadian with a Canadian passport. I will be landing in Termnial one and leaving from terminal 4. Should I have the time to make my connection ? Thanks !

That should be just enough time if everything goes smoothly and is on the same reservation.

  • Arrival with Delta T4 connection at T2
    Jun 2, 2016
I arrive with Delta from TLV at T4 16:40 and have connection flight to Portland,OR from T2 at 20:35 also with Delta. Do I need to pass immigration, reclaim and drop off my baggage or can I just take the Delta Jitneyl train from T4 to T2 and go strait to gate?

Yes, you have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags, go through security and to your departure gate. You have plenty of time.

  • 2 hours coming to connect from UK
    Jun 3, 2016
I would land at JFK from Edinburgh Scotland on a Delta flight. I continue on a different Delta flight to Atlanta but on the same reservation. Is this possible with a 2 hour connection time?

    Yes, that is possible.

I will be landing at 06:40 from South Africa, then want to catch another flight to Sacramento at 10am. Is three hours enough time to go through customs, collect baggage and board another flight?

    Thanks ZAP!

Amberrrkie, Yes, that should be enough time. Note that if you're purchasing two separate reservations then you will have to take your bags to your second airline, re-check them at their check-in desk, then go through security.

  • Connector
    Jun 4, 2016
Hi I've never flown internationally and am going to France this summer. My first connection flight (all Air France) is from JFK terminal 4 at 8:15- to terminal 1 at 9:50. Will I be able to make it? On foot? Do I need to go through security again with just a carry on? Why? I'm so nervous now I won't make any of my connector flights

Where are you coming from and going to? Your post is unclear.

From RDU, I will arrive at JFK at 8:15pm in terminal 4. Then I have to be at terminal 1 for my 9:50 flight to Paris. Is this enough time and do I have to go through security again?

Yes, you will take the AirTrain from Terminal 4 to Terminal 1 and go through security. Note that your flight from RDU will be operated by Delta - you won't find an Air France counter at RDU. You should have enough time.

  • Walking between Terminals
    Jun 2, 2016
My 19 yr old daughter will have a long layover at JFK. If she walks between terminal 8 to 5 where she flies out is it an inside walkway? I just want to make sure she's safe since she'll be traveling alone.

No, those terminals are not connected inside security.
