  • Traveling home w delayed flight
    Jun 25, 2016
Flying home on Delta flight from Dublin and the flight was delayed an hour. Land at 2:32 pm in terminal 4 and my next delta flight departs at 3:55 in terminal 2 of JFK. Is this enough time?

Yes, that is enough time. You will still pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Dublin. All you have to do is take the Jitney bus to T2 and go to your departure gate.

My niece is landing at JFK and her flight was late out of Europe. Coming to T4 and has connection out of T2 - I know they have to clear customs - they have carryon only. There is a recheck security point after customs correct? But is the bus or train from T4 to t2 inside security? Thx. They are flying non rev. Right connection time due to late flight out I Spain.

  • Is 2hr 20 min enough time to make inter flt arv/dep term 8 ?
    Jun 21, 2016
Hi. Arriving at 18:10 on AA from Clt. Departing at 20:30 on Alitalia to Milan. Is that going to work ?

That's just enough time if everything goes smoothly. However, note that Alitalia flights depart from Terminal 1, not Terminal 8. You will have to transfer any checked bags between terminals yourself.

I am looking at a BA flight that lands in JFK at 12.45 on Monday 12September (BA1589), then I will need to get a connecting flight by Jet Blue at 14.39 (B61373). I will have 1 hour 54 min connection time. Is this enough time? Will I need to collect my bags and clear customs once I get off the BA flight then check back in and go through security to get the Jet Blue flight?

Yes, you will arrive in Terminal 7, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, take the AirTrain to T5, re-check your bags with JetBlue and go through security. You have less time than I recommend. I recommend 3 hours for an International to Domestic connection at JFK on two separate reservations.

  • 1:50 connecting time
    Jun 21, 2016
Hi. On July 8(Fri), I will arrive in JFK at 13:05 from HKG via CX0830 in Terminal 7 and I will connect to AA2183 14:55 from JFK to DCA. I am an APEC/APTC holder and could go thru crew/diplomat line. Is the connecting fine?

It's possible, especially if you don't have checked bags or they come out quickly.

Hi ZAP, they are two separate ticket and there is 1 checked baggage. Is it OK?

Then that's considerably more difficult because even though you can go through the crew line for immigration, you may be waiting for your bag. You can show the agent in Hong Kong your AA confirmation and hopefully get your bag tagged to DCA. That way you can re-check your bag in T7 and not have to take it to the AA counter in T8.

Thanks ZAP. If the checked bag can be tagged directly to DCA, why shall I recheck my bag in T7 and how to do it?

We will be arriving at JFK from.Orlando on Virgin and have a connecting Virgin flight to LHR 1 hr 20 mins later. My travel agent said it will be enough time as we will not need to collect our cases. Is this correct?

  • Connection between terminal 2 and terminal 8
    Jun 20, 2016
Hi! I am arriving at 5:58 pm from Florida to JFK (Domestic fligh with Delta airlines) on Terminal 2 and the next flight I have is from JFK to Dusseldorf (International flight with Airberlin) at 9:25 pm from Terminal 8. Is there enough time between the flights to take the baggage, switch terminals, go through security and check in? The filights are not connected. Are there any buses between terminal 2 and 8 or are the terminals in walking distance? Thank you, Neja

Yes, that should be enough time. The AirTrain connects all terminals outside security.

  • minimum connection time at JFK
    Jun 20, 2016
we are arriving at JFK (international flight from Cyprus) at 19:20 and would like to take a domestic flight to San Francisco at 21:50. That gives us 2:30 hours to collect our luggage , go through customs check in again and transfer from terminal 4 to terminal 8. Is that doable?

On two separate reservations that's difficult but not impossible.

  • Sin to JFK to Toronto
    Jun 20, 2016
Hi all I am traveling from SIngapore via Sq to JFK on the 13th of Aug. Touching down at 1110hrs (termnial 4). My connecting flight to Toronto via AA is at Terminal 8 at 1525hrs. Will I have enough time to catch the transiting flight. This is my first time to States, any advise would be appreciated. regards Kun

Yes, that should be enough time. You will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, take your bags with you on the AirTrain to T8, re-check them with AA, and go through security. If you are not a US or Canadian citizen you will have to complete ESTA or have a transit visa to transit the US.

  • Switching Terminals
    Jun 19, 2016
In about two weeks I will be arrive at terminal 2 flying Delta at 9:00 PM and I will my connecting flight to CPH departs at 10:29. I will need to switch to a Terminal 4 and both flights are on one ticket. Does the Jitney run at this time and is this enough time to get from one gate to another?

Yes, the Jitney runs at that time. You have enough time.

  • BCN-JFK-BOS BA 1557/BA 8460
    Jun 17, 2016
We are on a flight from Barcelona to Boston through JFK on British Airways 1557/8406 (operated by American Airlines). It will be convenient for two of the party to actually get ground transportation from JFK rather than fly back to Boston only to reverse course. Can they get their bags at JFK and skip the last leg?

You will all have to get your bags to go through customs in JFK. However, if they skip the last portion of their trip to Boston, any further legs on their reservation will be cancelled. They can do this if JFK-Boston is the last flight on their reservation.

  • Connection Time
    Jun 17, 2016
I am flying in to JFK on a Delta arriving at 2:09 PM. Then I will have a flight to Shanghai on China Eastern at 4:25 PM. A 2 hrs 16 mins connection. It is a same ticket from Delta so I don't think I need to worry about baggages. But is that enough time for TSA?

Forgot to mention it is going to be in December. Is weather a concern? I have never flown to JFK before.

That should be enough time. Usually the weather in NYC in December isn't too bad.

  • Is 1:30 hrs. enough for connection
    Jun 16, 2016
I am coming to JFK on an international flight from London. I have 1:30 hrs. between this flight and a connection to DC. Both flights are American Airlines. Is that enough time?

That's just enough time if everything goes smoothly.

  • terminal4 to terminal 1
    Jun 16, 2016
Can I go from Terminal 4 (inside security area) to terminal 1 (inside security area) without getting out of security zone?

No, you cannot. You will have to take the AirTrain and go through security again in T1.

  • Phx -> JFK -> London
    Jun 16, 2016
On July 26 we are flying Phoenix to JFK on DL 537 arriving at 7:28 p.m. and then DL 4377 (Virgin Atlantic) to Paris at 9:30 p.m. Is this enough time with just carry-on luggage. Will we have any security, immigration, or customs checkpoints to go through at JFK?

Yes, that is enough time. All you have to do in JFK is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. There is no US Immigration or Customs when leaving the US.

  • 75 minute layover
    Jun 18, 2016
Flying KLM both flights from San Diego to JFK then on to Rome. One checked bag. 75 minute layover at JFK. Is that enough time? do we have to go through security again?

The first flight will be on Delta. The second flight will be on Delta or Alitalia. If both are on Delta that is definitely enough time and you don't have to go through security. If the second flight is operated by Alitalia it's a bit more difficult as you will have to change terminals and go through security. KLM does not fly San Diego-JFK or JFK-Rome.

There might not be enough time then, because we are flying into JFK on Delta and then flying from JFK to Rome on Alitalia We land at JFK at 8:50pm and Depart to Rome at 10:05pm (75 minutes). Can you please tell me how much time we need, so that I can have my airline move us up to a earlier flight from San Diego? I just got off the phone with them and they wouldn't help us.

How much time is needed if flying out on Alitalia?
