Hi I am arriving from Copenhagen at 8.05PM in on April 19. I have a connecting flight to Rochester at 10.45PM. I'm not certain of which terminal. Will that be sufficient time to go through immigration and boarding?
What airlines are you flying? Do you have checked bags?
I have only cabin luggage and we are flying Norwegian
We have a delta flight landing at JFK at 8:12am. Our next flight is British airways leaving at 10:25. Will we have enough time to get our checked luggage then check in with BA and get to the gate on time?
I'm assuming the delta flight will be at terminal 2 or 4 and BA leaves from terminal 8.
That will be very difficult. British Airways flights leave from Terminal 7. If you are intent on trying this, I would not check baggage.
Hi I am flying on June 2, 2017 from Copenhagen to JFK , landing at 8pm in Terminal 5. Is 2 hours enough time to go through immigration, I con't plan to have anything to claim in customs, I'm not checking bags but I need to get to Terminal 1 for a Jet Blue flight at 955pm. This is the latest flight on Jet Blue out of JFK this day. I plan to purchase a fastpass for security through Jet Blue. I just don't want to miss my flight on Jet blue flying back home to San Francisco. Thank you
No flights from Copenhagen arrive in Terminal 5. What airline are you flying? JetBlue uses Terminal 5 - perhaps you have your terminals reversed? If your inbound flight is on Norwegian this is pretty risky as their long-haul flights are often delayed.
Yes I did get them backwards. I'm flying in on Norweigan and flying out on Jet blue.
With no checked bags I think you can make this if the Norwegian flight is on-time.
We have a flight into JFK from LHR in July on BA. It is scheduled to land at 3:50PM. I used miles for this flight. Now I need to get a ticket to fly home from NYC. It looks like JFK is pricey for domestic flights, LGA is much more reasonably priced. Question: Is it doable to fly into JFK at 350pm and catch a flight from LGA at 750PM? That gives us 5 hours. Can we check in our baggage at JFK, or will we need to go through customs, get our luggage, transfer to LGA and check luggage in?
Yes, that should be possible - note however, that it's 4 hours, not 5. No, you cannot check your baggage in JFK. You will have to take it with you to LGA.
Thanks ZAP. You are correct it's 4 not 5 hours. Would you recommend that connection?
Yeah, you can probably make it, but also be aware that you will be going to LaGuardia at Rush Hour, that it will cost $30-$40 and that there is currently construction at LaGuardia, messing up traffic near it. If the difference in flight costs is less than $50 I wouldn't bother trying to change airports.
the price difference in pricing is about $175-200 per person; there are 4 of us. I am ok with hiring a shuttle or taxi and avoid any public transportation.
Also, we just got back from visiting NYC during the NYE week. We flew into LGA, but out of EWR. LGA construction is something.
Hi, I am flying from Dublin to Durham, NC via JFK terminal 5. I have booked one ticket for whole flight from Dublin to Durham. Could you please advise if I will need to claim my bags, undergo immigration after arrival to JFK T5? I have layover time of 1h50m between flights but I hope I will be able to stay in secure zone.
You pre-clar US Immigration and Customs in Dublin. All you have to do in JFK is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have enough time.
Hi, I am arriving at Terminal 8 from Alaska Airlines at 4:07 pm and has another flight in Terminal 1 departing at 7:20 pm (Aeroflot Airlines). It's two separate registrations and I was wondering whether 3 hours is enough for transfer between domestic T8 to international T1 flights. Thank you for the answer!
Yes, that should be enough time if the Alaska flight is on-time.
I'm travelling from Glasgow to San Francisco via New York with Delta Airlines. We have a layover time of 1hr30mins between flights. Both flights will use Terminal 4.
Will this be enough time? Will I need to clear customs at JFK or at the airport in SanFrancisco?
In JFK you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through security and to your departure gate. You have just enough time if everything goes smoothly.
We are flying in tomorrow from MSP and arrive in JFK on Delta at 6:40pm and then we are on a flight on Delta to San Juan that leaves at 7:30pm. So we have a 50 minute window is that enough time? If so what is the best way of doing this?
That is possible. You just have to go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. If you arrive in T4 and depart from T2 or vise-versa, Delta runs a shuttle between them inside security, but it does make it more difficult.
