  • FCO to JFK to CLE

On my return from Italy to Cleveland I have a 2 hour layover at JFK. 1) is that enough time to get through customs and to my flight (which happens to be the last flight to CLE of the day) and 2) do I have to get my checked luggage before going on to the CLE flight? thanks! Rob

Yes, you will have to claim your bags to go through US Customs at JFK. What airlines are you flying? Are both flights on the same reservation or two separate reservations?

Alitalia for the full reservation (codeshare with Delta)

Then yes, that should be just enough time.

    Thanks ZAP

Hello. I fly from SFO and arrive at Terminal 1. I have 1 hour and 20 minutes to get from Terminal 1 to Terminal 4 to catch a flight to CDG. Is there anything I should know about making the connection between terminals? It sounds like the AirTrain is the best option. Thank you!

No flights from SFO to JFK arrive in Terminal 1. What airlines are you flying? If both flights are on Delta they will both be in Terminal 4.

Oops. Typed that incorrectly. I arrive into JFK Terminal 4 on a Delta flight. Connect to a Delta/Air France flight out of Terminal 1 for CDG. Is the AirTrain the best option? I'm assuming when I check in at SFO, I'll be ticketed through to my final destination. Thanks again.

Yes, the AirTrain is your only option. Yes, all you have to do in JFK is take the AirTrain to T1 and go through security. You have just enough time if everything goes smoothly.

    Thanks, ZAP!

  • International T4 and Domestic T2

Tomorrow I'll arrive from Italy with a Delta flight to T4 then I have a connection flight that leaves from T2 (gate C64) which is the best way to reach the T2? Can I re-enter to the T4 and take the connecting T4-T2 bus? Or I must exit from T4 and enter to T2 ?

You can do either (go through security in T4 and take the bus or take the AirTrain to T2 and go through security there). Personally I'd probably take the AirTrain.

Hello. I am leaving Moscow on Finnair (connection in Helsinki) and arriving in JFK terminal 8 at 3:55 pm. Do i have enough time to clear customs and immigration (I am an american citizen) and get to Jetblue at T5 before 6:54 PM?

Yes, that should be enough time if everything goes smoothly.

  • Connecting Flight
    Oct 3, 2016
I have a flight landing at Terminal 4 - JFK New York at 16.30 on 26 March 2017 via an Etihad flight and then have a JetBlue flight to Las Vegas that has been brought forward to 18:23pm departing from Terminal 5. Will 2 hours be sufficient time to get from Terminal 4 to 5, taking immigration and baggage check-in into account.

You will pre-clear US Immigration and customs in Abu Dhabi. If both flights are on the same reservation, all you have to do in JFK is take the AirTrain from T4 to T5, get your JetBlue boarding pass if you don't already have it, and go through security. If it's two separate reservations you will have to claim and re-check your bags. You should ahve just enough time.

Hi, I will be arriving from Singapore on Qatar Airways and then connecting Delta Airlines to Fort Lauderdale. I have abt 5-6hrs transit time. I understand i have to clear immigration and customs for baggage clearance but what how do i get from terminal 8 (Qatar airways) to Delta Airlines (terminal 4)?? Is there a 'tram' to go from 1 terminal to d other or do i need to take a shuttle bus?? Thank you :

You take the AirTrain from T8 to T2 or T4. It is well marked.

Thank you ! ALso i saw there is an Airspace LoungeLocation: Terminal 5. Will i be able to use its facilities?? Since my departure terminal is t2/t4..??? Thank u..

    No, you will not.

  • Will I need to clear customs in NY
    Oct 1, 2016
Flying from Barcelona to Detroit. 1 1/2 layover in NY Kennedy. Reservation is Delta all the way through. Will I need to get bags in NY and clear customs or will that happen in Detroit? Thank you

In JFK you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through security and to your departure gate. You just have enough time if everything goes perfectly.

  • From Amsterdam Terminal 4 time to Terminal 5 Jet Blue
    Oct 1, 2016
My friend's flight was delayed 3 hours and now only has 1 hour to get through border control, customs, and collect baggage and check in on a Jet Blue flight that is a separate ticket. How can this be done the quickest way? My friend is a US citizen but does not have global entry/fast pass.

He or she will get stuck in New York unless the JetBlue flight is also delayed. This is the risk you take when you purchase two separate reservations. Maybe they will let him or her standby or change to a later flight (if there is one).

Hi, I'm arriving in Terminal 1 with AF at 1:40pm on Nov 7th and have a connecting to ORD with Delta at 4:15pm. Is that enough time to clear customs and recheck my bag? Thanks

Yes, that should be enough time if everything goes smoothly.

    Thanks a million!

  • JFK T7 to T8 Connection Time from LHR to MCO
    Sep 29, 2016
2 adults, 2 kids under 10 arriving T7 from LHR on BA at 12.10pm on a Saturday afternoon, departing T8 to MCO with AA (codeshare) same ticket at 14.59. Do we need to clear immigration, baggage reclaim etc & check in all over again, and is the connection time of 2hrs 50 mins enough? Many thanks

In JFK you will arrive in T7, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then take the AirTrain to T8 and go through security. You should have enough time.

  • transfer domestic to international
    Sep 28, 2016
my family are coming from MCO orlando to JFK via delta, then proceed to Asiana airlines for Incheon. Do they need to go out and check in again? Arrival at JFK is at 10:05 Am, Asiana departs 1:25 Pm. will the time be enough for the transfer? thanks

Are both tickets on the same reservation or two separate reservations? Even if it's two separate reservations that should be enough time.

  • Delta to emirates
    Sep 28, 2016
We arrive at 8:30Am from TPA on Delta. Our next flight leaves on Emirates to Dubai at 9:40 Am. We have carry on bags- can we make it?

With carry-ons only that is possible if you are able to check in online for your Emirates flight. If you arrive in Terminal 2 you can take a shuttle to Terminal 4 inside security. Personally, I wouldn't try this though.

  • Terminal 4 to Terminal 2
    Sep 28, 2016
Hi, I'm arriving on an international flight at terminal 4 at 6h05am and have a flight at 8h05am on terminal 2. Can I make it in time? I need to get my bags and check in again.

That is just barely enough time if everything goes perfectly and both tickets are on the same reservation.

  • able to make connection

Hi- travelling (and booked thru Delta) from BOS connecting thru JFK to MEX, is 2 hours 36 minutes enough time to connect at JFK for the flight to MEX?

Yes, all you have to do in JFK is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. Note that if you arrive in Terminal 2, you can take a shuttle to Terminal 4 inside security. This assumes that your flight to MEX is actually operated by Delta. If it's operated by Aeromexico you will have to take the AirTrain to Terminal 1 and go through security, but you still have enough time.

I am arriving on avianca (terminal 4) at 9PM and departing on american airlines (terminal 8) at 9:42 PM. Is this enough time?

^^I will have a carry-on bag only. Thanks!

You have zero chance of making that. Plan on spending the night in New York.
