Hi, I need to fly from FRA to CHA end of September, Delta offers a flightplan with a ~2h stop in JFK. DL 400 from FRA to JFK arrives at 1:27pm, DL 206 from JFK to ATL departs at 3:20pm. Is that enough time in between? Thanks!

Yes, that is just enough time if everything goes smoothly.

  • Needed timely advice on how to go to another terminal (with luggage)

I am landing at JetBlue at JFK tomorrow at 1:27 p.m. and have a 6:45 p.m. flight on El Al. I booked the flights separately. I am travelling with luggage. TY!

You will arrive in Terminal 5 and depart from Terminal 4. You will collect your bags from JetBlue, take the AirTrain to T4, re-check them with El Al and go through security. You have enough time.

We fly from Seattle with Delta arriving at 7:00am. We then fly on to the D.R. at 8:30.Also on Delta. Do we have claim our baggage and recheck or will they forward them on for us? Also is the is enough time to get to our next gate? Do we have to leave the airport or is there a internal way to get to the next terminal. Thank you!!

You don't have to do anything with your bags in JFK on the way to D.R. Yes, that is enough time. Both flights should be in Terminal 4.

Hi, I have a flight from San Juan to JFK. I Will be arriving on terminal 4 and departure is also from terminal 4 where I have to catch flight for Paris. Do you think 1 hour is enough for connecting flight on the same terminal? Thanks in advance.

Yes, that is enough time if the first flight is on-time.

Is 2 hours and 20 minutes enough time between a flight on American Airlines domestic to pick up luggage and transfer to terminal 1 AirFrance international? 2 tickets.

That's barely enough time if everything goes perfectly.

Hi I land at JFK from Johannesburg on SAA AT 0640AM (FEB 10TH) and have a Jet Blue flight to Puerto Plata at 0915 what are the procedures? can I make the flight? can luggage be checked through direct to POP from Johnnesburg? I do have a valid USA 10 Visa

What airline are you flying to Puerto Plata? Is it one reservation or two separate reservations?

The airline is JetBlue and at this stage of planning it would be a separate booking from the SAS flight to JFK

You will arrive in Terminal 4, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then take your bags with you on the AirTrain to Terminal 5, re-check your bags with JetBlue, and go through security. That is just enough time if everything goes smoothly.

Thank you for response... it's highly appreciated... Is it possible to check the luggage through directly from Johannesburg? Would that be possible if it was one booking? Or if I already have boarding passes printed when I depart Johannesburg

You have to claim your bags in JFK to clear US Customs whether it's one reservation or not, even though you're connecting to a different country.

Flying jetblue BUFFALO to JFK and then on to london, heathrow thru British airways (separate ticket)- do I need to transport my own checked bags between terminals, and if so, how much time is needed? Thanks!

Yes, you will have to take your bags yourself from Terminal 5 to Terminal 7 and re-check them with British Airways. You'll want at least 2.5 hours.

Hi, I am flying into JFK from Ecuador on Latam air, then on to Shannon, Ireland via Aer Lingus. We 2 hours 5 minutes from arrival to departure. Will we be able to get thru customs and checked in for Aer Lingus at least 60 minutes prior to departure? I.E., through customs and to the Aer Lingus check in in an hour?

    I really doubt it.

On a Saturday flying into JFK on Jet Blue flight landing at 10:52pm to then fly out with China Airways at 1:35am. We have checked luggage. Are we going to make it?

There is no such airline as "China Airways". Are you flying China Airlines or Air China? Are your flights on one reservation or two separate reservations?

It's China Airlines and it's two separate reservations, i.e. the Jet Blue leg and the China Airlines leg are two separate reservations. We are doing this is June incidentally.

That should be enough time. Since it's two separate reservations you will have to claim your bags from JetBlue in T5 and take them to Terminal 4 with you on the AirTrain to re-check with China Airlines.

Thank you so much. Feeling very relieved :)

Is an hour and 20 minutes enough time for a connection on Delta from Salt Lake to AirFrance to Paris? Two tickets but partner airlines.

If the flight to Paris is operated by Air France you will have to take the AirTrain to Terminal 1 and go through security. It's just enough time if everything goes smoothly.

Hi, I'd be arriving at JFK on Delta flight DL1 at 1330 and departing on Delta flight DL4136 from JFK at 1455 meaning I have 1hr 25mins to make the connection. Is this enough time? Would I have to clear customs and would I have to re-check my bag back in? I believe both flights are from terminal 4? Thanks, Tom

Yes, you have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, and go through security and to your departure gate. 85 minutes is really pushing it and is far less than I recommend.

Thanks Zap, the Delta helpdesk are telling me that they would handle the bags being transferred between flights and that I'd just have to get myself through customs. Is this incorrect?

Yes and no, YOU have to claim the bags to bring them through customs, but you can drop them off right after, so technically, THEY are actually transferring them between flights by way of you at the International baggage claim.

Hi Tom, I have a similar issue flying Heathrow to Chicago via JFK with 95 min connection time. How did your connection work out? Thanks for any help you can give!

Hi, fly into JFK on Jet blue flight landing at 9:19pm fly out to Heathrow with BA at 11:10. We have checked bags, are we going to make it? Thanks

With checked bags it will be very difficult for you to get them to the BA check-in desk in Terminal 7 before the bag check cutoff. But it's not impossible if everything goes perfectly.

Is 45 mins enough time to go from a domestic terminal (coming from CLT) to Terminal 4?

there is no "domestic terminal" at JFK. What airlines are you flying? Do you have checked bags?

  • Is 2 hrs enough for connection of two separate tickets

Hello, I plan to arrive in JFK at 12:50 with flight SN501 from BRU and then connect flight DL to DCA at 15:00. They are two separate tickets. Would that leave enough time to clear customs and make the next flight? I have Global entry and have carry-on only.

With global entry and only carry-ons, that should be enough time. Check in for your flight to DCA online before leaving Brussels.

    Thank you very much!
