Hi guys. We arrive at Terminal 5 from Orlando and 1hour and 32mins later our flight to Dubai is due to take off from Terminal 4. Are we going to have enough time? I can't find any info on transfers at all so far.
That will be difficult. Even if both flights are on the same reservation you still have to take the AirTrain to T4 and go through security.
I'm flying from FCO to LAX, and I've a connection at JFK. I land at JFK at 6.35pm (at terminal 1) and my next flight is at 8.45 pm (from terminal 4). Do I have enough time to get my checked luggage and and check-in again? Also, if I buy wine at the duty-free in Rome, will I be able to pass security with it in JFK ( https://www.tsa.gov/travel/security-screening/liquids-rule )? Thank you
That is just enough time if everything goes smoothly. If you buy Duty Free liquids in Rome you have to put it in your checked bags before you re-check them at the re-check desk.
Thank you for your reply. So I may end up paying for additional weight as well?
They don't reweigh your bags at the re-check desk.
I'm looking at booking a flight to Spain. The option that Delta gives me is to depart Texas at 8:06AM (6hr layover at JFK) and arrive in Barcelona at 9:55AM. I can save nearly half by booking 2 separate tickets (both with Delta); depart Texas at 8:06AM to JFK (12:55PM), then JFK at 4:20PM to Barcelona (arrive at 9:10AM - w/ Paris Layover). Am I missing something? Is 3 hours not enough time to check out of the domestic flight and reenter on an international - granted I will have luggage (12 day trip). Thoughts? Comments? Price difference is $1,400 and $800 round trip.
Yes, 3 hours is enough time to claim your bags and re-check them for the second flight if that is the amount of time you have at JFK.
Hello, we are arriving from Cancun with AA on Terminal 8 at 12:16 and then taking a flight at 4:30 pm from Terminal 1 - do you know how long it takes to go from T8 to T1 ? thanks very much for your help
Actually getting between the terminals only takes 10-15 minutes on the AirTrain.
Hi- I am flying out of JFK Terminal 5, and trying to coordinate to see a friend that is arriving at Terminal 4 within the same time-frame. After I pass security at Terminal 5 Departures, can I go over to Terminal 4 Arrivals and meet him at his arrival gate? Or do I have to wait for him to go through the customs line first? And, will I need to go through security again traveling between terminals or arrivals/departures? Thanks!
No, you can't. They are not connected inside security. You will not be allowed through security in Terminal 4 and he won't be accessible to the public until after he clears US Customs at which point he will be outside security in Terminal 4. You could meet him outside security in Terminal 4 if time allows, but to get to your flight you would have to go to Terminal 5 on the Airtrain and go through security afterwards, so you'd need to leave T4 ~90 minutes before your flight.
Hi, I am arriving in JFK from doha on a qatar flight and catching AA clight to charlotte. i have 2 hrs 45 mins of connection time. I am not a US citizen and this is my first visit to US. Will this connection time enough to go through immigration, customs, recheck and board the flight? It is a single ticket. Also Do i need to board any train/bus for boarding my flight to charlotte ?
Yes, that should be enough time. The morning arrival on Qatar Airways arrives in Terminal 7 and you will have to take the AirTrain to T8 to depart. The afternoon arrival is at T8.
