I am flying from Orlando to JFK then flying to Iceland. All of the flights are delta (or airfrance). Do I have to get my checked bags and go through security again? i will have approx 70 Min between flights. Is that sufficant time? thank you
Both are Delta. You don't have to do anything with your bags in JFK on you way to Iceland, just go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. If you arrive in Terminal 2 there is a shuttle inside security to Terminal 4 where you will depart.
I would like my bag checked straight through from Delta at CHS to Asiana Airlines at JFK. Is this possible. If not, what is the best walking route from the Delta terminal arrival point to the Asiana terminal. Alternately, should I get a taxi out of baggage claim to the Asiana terminal to avoid carrying heavy luggage?
If you purchase two separate reservations then Delta will not check your bags through to Asiana. If you arrive in Terminal 4 (Some Delta flights arrive there, some Delta domestic flights arrive in Terminal 2). Then you don't have to change terminals, both flights will be in Terminal 4. If you arrive in Terminal 2 you will have to take your bags on the AirTrain to Terminal 4 to re-check them. You can't take a taxi between terminals.
I'm flying from Orlando to JFK on jet Blue terminal 5
Then I fly out on China Air terminal 1
Do I have to get my luggage and check in again going through security?
Are your tickets on one reservation or two separate reservations? Regardless you will have to go through security again in Terminal 1. Also are you on China Airlines (flying to Taipei) or Air China (flying to Beijing). There's a big difference. There is no "China Air".
Thanks. On Air China to Beijing
One reservation
Then yes, you take the AirTrain to Terminal 1 and go through security.
I land at terminal 8 & my connection leaves ffrom the same terminal, do I go through immigration in JFK or at MCO,my final destination
If you flight into JFK is international you will go though US Immigration, customs, and security in JFK.
I'm arriving on JetBlue at terminal 5 around 21:30 and have an Emirates flight to DXB at 23:00. Is 90 mins enough? Do I need to collect baggage and check in again at Emirates -- and travel between terminals with 2 large bags? How long will AirTrain take to connect. Any help appreciated!
Are both tickets on the same reservation or two separate reservations?
On the same reservation. Although on way in JetBlue flight mentioned was codeshare EK flight, but this time it is mentioned as a JetBlue flight. But EK itinerary shows all the flights.
Then all you have to do in JFK is take the AirTrain from T5 to T4 and go through security. You should have enough time if the JetBlue flight is on-time.
do we have to take checked luggage before going to terminal 4 for emirates
If the JetBlue flight is domestic you don't have to do anything with your bags at JFK.
Looking at a flight from YYZ (Toronto) on WestJet to SJU (San Juan) that connects with American Airlines at JFK but only have 2h5min connection -- is this enough time to clear immigration/customs and make the American Airlines flight or would we be pushing it?
WestJet does not fly from YYZ to JFK. They fly from Toronto to LaGuardia in New York. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto but since it's two different airports that's not enough time.
My apologies, it's not from YYZ, it's actually from YYC (Calgary) to JFK. I found the itinerary on travelocity.ca (I'm actually originating in YZF, so I have to do 2 connections unfortunately). Is that enough time? Can I pre-clear customs in Calgary? Flight lands at JFK at 16:55, departs at 19:00 on a Friday evening to SJU.
Yes, you will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Calgary. If both tickets are on the same reservation then you just have to take the AirTrain from Terminal 4 to Terminal 8, get your AA boarding pass, and go through security. You should have enough time. If it's two separate reservations you'll have to claim your bags from Westjet in T4 first before going to T8.
I'm not sure I totally understand the two reservation thing, sorry -- if I book using a website like travelocity for YZF to SJU it gives me the option to fly WestJet to YYC then to JFK then I connect with AA to SJU. It's one booking on the website, though technically two companies, so how is that treated -- as one reservation or two? I'm sorry if that sounds stupid. I've actually never changed airlines before -- every time I've ever flown it's been the one airline straight through so bags were checked on through. Would it be helpful if we went carry-on only? Thanks so much.
That will be treated as one reservation and your bags will be checked through to San Juan and you won't have to do anything with them at JFK.
Returning home on a direct flight with American Airlines from terminal 8 at 7.00pm I must first get a Delta flight the same day from Washington DCA to terminal 4 JFK which arrives at 2.15pm. I am concerned if there is sufficient time to clear immigration, collect my case, make my way to terminal 8 and check my case in with American Airlines for my homeward flight. I would appreciate if someone could advise if I will have enough time to negotiate the airport in time for my flight home ?
There is no US Immigration when flying from Washington DC to JFK. All you have to do is claim your bags, take them to T8 on the AirTrain, re-check them with American, and go through security. You have plenty of time.
Thanks greatly for this feedback info.
hi I am flying from Aruba by JetBlue to terminal 5 and connecting to EVA air on terminal 1. I have checked bags. The tickets are bought separately. Do I have to collect the checked bags and go through custom and check in again at JFK?
You will pre-clear US Immigration and customs in Aruba. However, you will have to claim your bags from JetBlue, take them on the AirTrain with you to T1, re-check them with Eva, and go through security.
Thank you and appreciate your clear response. Extremely helpful
I am arriving from Las Vegas at 550AM via Jetblue at Terminal 5, then will be catching my Toronto flight via American Airlines at Termina 8l , 925am, with a checked in baggage in both flights. Is 3 hours enough time for me to catch the 925am flight?
Yes, that should be enough time. You will have to transfer your bags yourself between JetBlue and American on the AirTrain.
Thank you
Flying into Term 7 on BA from LHR, connecting in Term 7 to Cathay for flight to YVR. Will I need to go through immigration??
Yes, you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, and go through security.
