  • Domestic to Intl on Delta
    Apr 16, 2016
Arrive from Seattle at 4:05 and depart for Athens at 5:39 -- both Delta flights. Separate reservations, no checked luggage. Doable? On the return, also both on Delta, arrive from Athens at 4:28 and depart for Atlanta at 7:00. Again, separate tickets and no checked baggage. I have Global Entry. Can I make it? Appreciate your thoughts!

flying in June into JFK on Delta arriving at 4:14 then need to get to Emirates for departure to Milan at 22:20 is this enough time for transfer?

That is enough time for both connections.

Flying international into JFK on Delta, arriving at 5:00 pm Terminal 4 and departing JFK to Phoenix at 7:30 pm out of Terminal 2. One checked bag. Doable? Thanks,

That should be plenty of time.

  • Xfer Time, T-5 to T-8

Arriving JetBlue Terminal 5 at 15:00; must collect bags. Departing American Airlines, Terminal 8 at 17:40. Is this enough time to make the transfer? Thanks -

If your JetBlue flight is domestic this is just enough time. If it's international this will be pretty difficult, but not impossible.

Thanks, ZAP. The Jet Blue flight is domestic; departure is to Barcelone. I presume TSA Precheck would be a benefit in helping speed up check in at T8...

Yes, precheck will help. You should have enough time.

I'm a Canadian Passport holder flying in to JFK from Dubai landing at 8:50 AM at Terminal 4. My second flight on a separate ticket departs from Terminal 8 at 11:10 AM giving me just under 2.5 hours. Ill have no checked baggage with me. Do you think ill make it home?! Also I am staff with the airline flying into JFK but travelling off duty, do you think this might help me get through faster?

Yes, with no checked bags I think you can make it. Having an Emirates staff badge probably won't help you with any lines at JFK. However, you could try it at security in Terminal 8, it can't hurt.

  • Sun country to delta
    Apr 13, 2016
We are arriving at terminal 4 on Sun Country at 8:05 pm on a Thursday night. We need to catch a Delta flight to London at 10:30. Delta would not confirm which terminal the flight will leave from, telling me it will be decided 24 hours ahead of time. However, when pressed, they told me that the most recent similar flight did leave from terminal four. Do I risk booking it? We will not be checking bags. We should not have to leave security, right? Tx

The flight to London will depart from Terminal 4. All International Delta flights use Terminal 4. Yes, without checked bags you won't have to leave security.

Is it possible to take the trolly carrying my heavy luggage in the terminal air train when I transfer from T4 toT8. I am an old man and have only 4hrs 30m. from landing to take off.

You have plenty of time. You are allowed to take luggage carts on the airtrain.

  • JFK to DCA

JFK British Airways flight arrives 1.05pm Terminal 8 DCA American Airline leaves JFK 2.55pm Terminal 8 Please help a dinosaur know Exactly what to do on arrival at JFK - concerned about retrieving luggage/customs/re-checking in.............

Not sure I made that very clear. LHR - JFK then JFK - DCA It's one ticket BA operated by AA 1st leg then BA operated by AA 2nd leg (if it's operated by AA why has it got a BA flight numb?) I'm reading that i do immigration/get luggage/customs drop bag again - is it close by please?

Arrive JFK terminal 8 and leave JFK terminal 8 as well hopefully that's a good sign.

Yes, you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go through security and to your departure gate. You should have enough time.

Thank you for replying. is it a BA or AA desk I'm looking for after Customs? and is it a designated 're-check in' for the case or just ordinary 'check in' Sorry if i sound a bit dumb !

  • Connection from Milan
    Apr 12, 2016
I have booked my tickets in and out of JFK separately from my flight from JFK to Milan. My flight from Milan is scheduled to land on a Tuesday at 1:39. I can choose to fly out of JFK on my flight booked separately at either 3:59 or 8:30 PM. Is 2 hours 20 minutes enough time to get through immigration, pick up checked baggage, and make it to the Jet Blue gate?

With checked bags on two separate reservations, no I do not think 2 hrs 20 minutes is enough time.

flying to Boston from Dubai Correction time 2 hours 45 minutes I'm trying to Tampa by Jetblue

So you're connecting at Boston, not JFK? (you posted in the JFK forum). If so that's just enough time if everything goes smoothly.

  • Terminal 4 to Terminal 8
    Apr 12, 2016
I will be arriving on Delta from Madrid at 12:22PM in Terminal 4. My connecting flight is in Terminal 8 American Airlines departing 2:59PM. Tickets were booked seperate, will have 1 checked bag. Total time (if flights are on time) is 2 hrs 38 mins. Does this seem like enough time to make the transfer? Thanks in advance!

It's barely enough time if everything goes perfectly. If you can do this without a checked bag it will make it much easier.

    Thanks Zap!

  • Is this enough time?
    Apr 11, 2016
I am arriving on Jet Blue from DEN at 6:50 pm to JFK, departing for Prague at 8:30 pm on Delta. Is this enough time? One checked bag, separate reservation.

That's barely enough time if your flight from DEN is on-time and your bag comes out quickly. I personally would try to do this without checked bags if you can or not do it at all.

  • Connection Time

Hi, I am flying in from orlando and have a connecting flight to dubai, is 3.5hrs enough time to make the connection? I have checked in bags and its not same ticket so i will have to check them in again.

Yes, that should be enough time.

  • T8 to T4
    Apr 11, 2016
Hello, I'm a 70 years old woman, My TAM flight to JFK arrive at 07:40 AM in T8 and my Virgin American flight to Las take off at 09:30 in T4, it's in the same ticket and I have 2 baggages. As you know Brazilian have the right to carry 2 baggages with 70 pounds, if your flights are in the same ticket. I've already bought it and I know that I don't have time enough. But if you think it is possible, please say... My question are: 1) When I arrive, will I need to go to claim my bags, take the AirTrain to Terminal 8, re-check my bags, and go through security? 2) Whether I miss the flight, what probably will happen, what should I do? Go to Virgin desck and ask to get the followying flight to LAS? If there is not flight directly to LAS in the same day. Or should I go to TAM desk?

You will need to claim your bags, but since they should be tagged to LAS because everything is on the same reservation, you can re-check in the re-check desk in Terminal 8, then take the Airtrain to Terminal 4, get your Virgin America boarding pass if TAM isn't able to issue it, and go through security. If you miss your connection you will go to Virgin America to be rebooked. They will probably rebook you to Las Vegas through Los Angeles or San Francisco because I think there's only one daily JFK-LAS nonstop.

Thanks ZAP, Just to clarify, as probably I will have done my check in with Virgin America, I will need to claim the bags in T8, pass by the immigration, leave the bags in T8 connections baggages, take the AirTrain to Terminal 4 and go through the Security. You didn't say anything about the time. ps: the flight comes from Brazil.

Yes, that is the procedure and you have barely enough time if everything goes perfectly.

  • How much connection time?
    Apr 11, 2016
I'm about to book a flight into JFK (from Atlanta), connecting on Delta to Milan (MXP). And the reverse, coming home. How much connection time should I allow?

This is Delta, all the way.

An hour on the way to Milan should be OK. On the way back I'd want at least 2 hours.

Choices include 2 hrs 45 mins outbound, or 4 hrs. Is there any point in picking the longer time? Thanks for the input!

On the outbound the 2 hrs 45 minutes definitely sounds fine.

  • Transfer between JetBlue and Ukraine
    Apr 10, 2016
I am transferring between JetBlue and Ukraine International. I know there was no interchange agreement for baggage. I have approximately 2 hours and 40 minutes each direction for my layover. Is this enough?

On your way to Kiev you should have enough time as long as your JetBlue flight is on-time. On the way back it's possible but there's no time to spare if there are any delays (which are pretty common on Ukraine International).
