I'm going to be arriving on Delta to JFK airport from Dominican Rep and catching a flight to AMS on the same airline but on a separate reservation. (4 hours layover time from ETA to ETD).

I know that I have to clear customs and go to baggage claim, but the question is how can I get to the departure level to check me in and the bags for the flight to AMS. And, do I have enought time?
You can just take an escalator up the departure level after you clear customs with your bags.
Hi, I'm flaying from IAD on jet blue on 12/25 getting in at 9:53pm. Have to connect on CI for a 12:20am flight to Taipei. Do I have enough time to get checked baggage and check in for my international flight? Seems tight.
That is enough time if the first flight is on-time. If both flights are on the same reservation then you won't have to claim your bags in JFK.
Hi there, I am thinking of buying a ticket on Norwegian Air from Stockholm arriving in JFK at 8.05pm and getting on a JetBlue flight to Charleston, SC leaving at 9.52pm on JetBlue airways. Do I have enough time when you add customs, getting bags and rechecking in?
With checked bags I don't think that's realistic. Even without checked bags it would be pretty difficult. Plan on spending the night in New York.
arriving on 26th from manchester uk onward to orlando,

We have 1.5 hours to get from t2 to t4. with delta. whats the process and will we make it ?
You have your terminals reversed. You will arrive in 4 and depart from 2. You will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re check desk, then either take the AirTrain to T2 and go through security or go through security in T4 and take the shuttle bus to T2. This is a very difficult connection/
thanks : what will happen if we miss the connection. surely if delta booked us on they thought it possible - will it they will have to work it out for us ?
do you think if are nice to people in immigration and explain out situation we could work our way to the front of the queue.

You will be rebooked on the next available flight to Orlando, but considering it's the holidays that may be very difficult. They may send you across town to LaGuardia airport.
Hi,

Im booked on a flight from YYZ to LHR with Delta & Virgin (same ticket) with a 45 min layover in JFK - will I have enough time to actually make the connecting flight to LHR?
Yes, that is enough time if the flight from Toronto is on-time. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto.
Thanks ZAP, if the Toronto flight isnt on time and as a result miss my connection to LHR, will Delta/Virgin put me on the next one to LHR?
Yes, they will.
Thanks for the help ZAP!
In june I am traveling from ATL to JFK to ATH. I am flying Delta. My flight arrives in JFK at 5:49pm and departs at 730pm for Athens. Is this enough time? Do I go through security/customs in JFK?
There is no US Customs when leaving the US. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. If you arrive in Terminal 2, Delta runs a shuttle bus inside security to Terminal 4 where you depart.
Also, yes, you have enough time.
Considering a direct flight Tucson to JFK that would arrive at 4:00 pm (terminal 4?) to an EgyptAir flight to Cairo that departs Terminal 8 at 6:30. Not on one ticket. Is this impossible?
AA flights arrive in Terminal 8, not Terminal 4. Egyptair flights depart from Terminal 4, not 8. You will have to claim your bags from AA, take them on the AirTrain to Terminal 4, re-check them with Egyptair and go through security. You have just enough time if everything goes smoothly.
Arriving 1.30 PM form Milan (terminal 2) and departing 3.25 from Terminal 2.
Guess I have to go through immigration, custom and security again. Seems pretty tight.
I wander if it's faster to go through security at terminal 2 than jitney to terminal 4 or airtrain to terminal 4 and go through security there.
Thanks
I am flying to Charleston from LHR next month and have to change planes at JFK. First flight is with Virgin from LHR to JFK. Connecting flight is with Delta (Virgin's partner airline). I have 2 hours turnaround time at JFK and ticket was sold as one ticket. Is this do- able?
No flights from Milan arrive in Terminal 2. If you are on Alitalia you will arrive in Terminal 1 and if you are on Delta you will arrive in Terminal 4.
Susie, your connection is doable.
Sorry. I arrive in terminal 4 and than fly to Miami from terminal 2. All the rest is correct
***, then yes, you will arrive in Terminal 4, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re check desk, then either take the AirTrain to T2 and go through security or go through security in T4 and take the shuttle bus to T2. You should have enough time.
I'm flying from Zurich on Dec 31, arriving in JFK at 13:25 on American and connecting on American at 2:54 for Raleigh, NC. Will this be enough time? Do I have to get my bags and recheck them? Thank you
Yes, you have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, and go through security. You have just enough time if everything goes perfectly.
my son arrives from montreal on delta airline at 6.40 pm( at terminal 4). He then has a flight on Cathay pacific from terminal 7 at 12.45 am ( so has around 6 hours). We are hoping that time is enough. How does he travel from terminal 4 to terminal 7? thanks
The airtrain connects all terminals outside security. He has plenty of time. He will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Montreal, so all he has to do in JFK is claim his bags from Delta, take them on the AirTrain to T7, and check them with Cathay once the check-in desk opens and go through security.
