Arriving on Qatar Airline and connecting to MSP on a separate reservation with American Airline. Do I need to transfer to another terminal?
No, both flights will be in Terminal 8. You will arrive, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, and go through US Customs, then go up to the departure level, re-check your bags with American and go through security.
You will not go through Immigration in Atlanta. There is no US Immigration or Customs when leaving the US. If you have checked bags you will have to claim them from Delta, re-check them with Etihad, and go through security.
But 2hours and 30 min is sufficient time to collect bags and go to etihad counter and check in?
That's barely enough time if everything goes smoothly.
I'm planning to fly into JFK from SFO at 8:15am on United (terminal 7) and need to catch a 10:40am South African Airlines flight from Terminal 4. Is the Air Train the best option for transfer and is this enough time?
United doesn't fly to JFK anymore, so no, you can't be planning that.
Thanks for that heads up! I looked closer at the reservation and the flight was into Newark! I checked NY area flights. Well anyway, I'm looking for the amount of time I need between flights. Thanks!
Well, if you fly to JFK on two separate reservations you need 2-3 hours. If you fly to Newark you realistically have to either arrive on a very early redeye (before 6 AM) or arrive the night before.
I am taking an Emirates EK 201 from Dubai to JFK r terminal 4 eaching at 14.15 hrs on 12th Oct & then have another flight to Port of Spain - Carribean Airlines BW 525 DEP 17.05 on same day . so having 2.50 hrs for immigration, baggage , customs & check in . is it enough ?
That's barely enough time if everything goes smoothly.
On my return from Italy to Cleveland I have a 2 hour layover at JFK. 1) is that enough time to get through customs and to my flight (which happens to be the last flight to CLE of the day) and 2) do I have to get my checked luggage before going on to the CLE flight?

Yes, you will have to claim your bags to go through US Customs at JFK. What airlines are you flying? Are both flights on the same reservation or two separate reservations?
Alitalia for the full reservation (codeshare with Delta)
Then yes, that should be just enough time.
Thanks ZAP
Hello. I fly from SFO and arrive at Terminal 1. I have 1 hour and 20 minutes to get from Terminal 1 to Terminal 4 to catch a flight to CDG. Is there anything I should know about making the connection between terminals? It sounds like the AirTrain is the best option. Thank you!
No flights from SFO to JFK arrive in Terminal 1. What airlines are you flying? If both flights are on Delta they will both be in Terminal 4.
Oops. Typed that incorrectly. I arrive into JFK Terminal 4 on a Delta flight. Connect to a Delta/Air France flight out of Terminal 1 for CDG. Is the AirTrain the best option? I'm assuming when I check in at SFO, I'll be ticketed through to my final destination. Thanks again.
Yes, the AirTrain is your only option. Yes, all you have to do in JFK is take the AirTrain to T1 and go through security. You have just enough time if everything goes smoothly.
Thanks, ZAP!
Tomorrow I'll arrive from Italy with a Delta flight to T4 then I have a connection flight that leaves from T2 (gate C64) which is the best way to reach the T2? Can I re-enter to the T4 and take the connecting T4-T2 bus? Or I must exit from T4 and enter to T2 ?
You can do either (go through security in T4 and take the bus or take the AirTrain to T2 and go through security there). Personally I'd probably take the AirTrain.
Hello. I am leaving Moscow on Finnair (connection in Helsinki) and arriving in JFK terminal 8 at 3:55 pm. Do i have enough time to clear customs and immigration (I am an american citizen) and get to Jetblue at T5 before 6:54 PM?
Yes, that should be enough time if everything goes smoothly.
I have a flight landing at Terminal 4 - JFK New York at 16.30 on 26 March 2017 via an Etihad flight and then have a JetBlue flight to Las Vegas that has been brought forward to 18:23pm departing from Terminal 5. Will 2 hours be sufficient time to get from Terminal 4 to 5, taking immigration and baggage check-in into account.
You will pre-clear US Immigration and customs in Abu Dhabi. If both flights are on the same reservation, all you have to do in JFK is take the AirTrain from T4 to T5, get your JetBlue boarding pass if you don't already have it, and go through security. If it's two separate reservations you will have to claim and re-check your bags. You should ahve just enough time.
Hi, I will be arriving from Singapore on Qatar Airways and then connecting Delta Airlines to Fort Lauderdale. I have abt 5-6hrs transit time. I understand i have to clear immigration and customs for baggage clearance but what how do i get from terminal 8 (Qatar airways) to Delta Airlines (terminal 4)?? Is there a 'tram' to go from 1 terminal to d other or do i need to take a shuttle bus?? Thank you :
You take the AirTrain from T8 to T2 or T4. It is well marked.
Thank you ! ALso i saw there is an Airspace LoungeLocation: Terminal 5. Will i be able to use its facilities?? Since my departure terminal is t2/t4..???
Thank u..
No, you will not.
