  • Air France International to Air France (delta) Domestic connection

Hi. I will be traveling with my 3.5 yr old daughter in December from Warsaw to Paris, Paris to JFK, JFK to Miami. I know I have to pickup baggage, go through Immigration/Customs and drop baggage off. My flight should land at 1:27pm at JFK in T4 and my flight to Miami departs 3:10pm (supposedly from T2). As I will be by myself with small child and another on the way. Entire flight purchased on the same ticket using the same airline Air France. Will 1:43 be enough to pick up the bags, go through Imigration/Customs/Drop off and eventually to T2? How far away is baggage pickup from Immigration/Customs? Are there any carts to use for the bags?

Immigration, baggage claim, customs, and re-check are all in a sequence in roughly the same area. Yes, they have carts to use for your baggage in the international baggage claim. You should have just enough time assuming everything goes smoothly.

Flying from Barbados to sanfrancisco I have an 11 hr layover. Will I di immigration at jfk?

Yes, in JFK you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs. If your bags are tagged through to SFO you can re-check them at the re-check desk, otherwise you will bring them to the check in counter of your second airline, then re-check them, and go through security.

I am flying from greensboro to India and have a connecting flight at jfk it is as I will land at jfk terminal 8 by American Airlines at 9:20am and my next flight is with China southern airlines at 10:44 am at terminal 4 will I be able to make in 1:20 mins I have checkin bag as well and I am on f1visa. Please I need experienced answers . Thanks.

No, that is impossible. Since it appears you purchased two separate reservations it will not be possible for you to transfer your bags to to the China Southern Check-in desk in Terminal 4 before the cutoff. You will have to find an earlier flight to New York, possibly flying in the night before, or find another route to India.

    Thanks

  • traveling between Terminals 2 and 4 at JFK

Hi, I am looking at booking a flight from Frankfurt to Detroit with a layover of 1;55 minutes. Flight arrives at Terminal 4 and departs from Terminal 2. With all whats involved.....Immigration, Baggage Claim , Customs, rechecking baggage and then travel time with the Delta shuttle to terminal 2......is 1 hour and 55 minutes enough ?

That should be just about enough time if everything goes smoothly. Also note that Delta JFK-DTW flights that begin with the number 4 depart from Terminal 4, not Terminal 2.

Thank you so much for the quick response. My connecting flight number unfortunately starts with a 5!

Then there's still a decent chance it could use Terminal 4.

Just did it ( on 10th November). It is just about achievable. See my review on Trip Advisor. 'JFK, transfer T4 to T2'. I have provided a factual account of the procedure. It's a helluva hike from T4 to T2. No time to hang about. If you need more info my email is: davewk80@hotmail.com. Regards, DaveK

Hi DaveK....thank you for the info! In the meantime, I have decided to bite the bullet and pay that extra 80€ for a direct flight from FRA to DTW!

Hi, I'm arriving at 10:19 on 24NOV on Delta from Boston and departing for ICN on Korean at `12:00. Enough time for connection?

Yes, that should be enough time. You will have to take the AirTrain from your arrival Terminal (2 or 4) to Terminal 1 and go through security.

hi, my domestic flight with Delta from Rochester N.Y. to JFK airport T2 will arrive at 2:30PM and my international flight with KLM to Amsterdam T4 at 4:30 PM both ticket I booked it separate . I have two hours transfer could I catch my flight with two hours and how can I go through T2 to T4 or delta will help me ???

Your flight from ROC will actually likely arrive in Terminal 4 as well, so you will likely have to just walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. If it does arrive in Terminal 2, Delta operates a shuttle bus inside security between Terminal 2 and 4. You should have plenty of time.

    thanks a lot.

  • Connecting two separate international flights in less than two hours?

I am about to book a ticket of "GGT 4:56pm to JFK 10:59pm on Apr 1, 2016" but also have a flight departing from JFK 00:50am on Apr 2. While this leaves me with less than two hours, I'd like to make sure if I can come thru the customs and baggage claim etc. at Terminal 8 and check back in at terminal 1 for the second flight, going thru customs and baggage check again. I'd appreciate any comment.

That should be barely enough time - it's only possible because you're going through so late in the evening. You don't have to go through customs twice. There is no US Customs when leaving the US.

  • Delta Domestic to Air France International conection

Hi, My friend is arriving at Terminal 4 on Delta at 2:22pm and has a connection on a code share Air France flight in Terminal 1 to CDG for a 4:30pm departure. He's not sure what to do about his bags - should he pick them up in Terminal 4 and recheck them? Or does he send them through all the way to CDG from his original airport? He is Sky Priority, if that helps, and all of this is booked on the same reservation. Thanks so much in advance!

His bags will be transferred for him. All he has to do is take the AirTrain from T4 to T1 and go through security. He has plenty of time.

  • layover time (outbound flight)

My parents will fly to FCO from ORD via JFK on Nov 14. ORD-JFK is with Delta arriving at 3:15PM (Terminal 4), JFK-FCO is with Alitalia leaving at 4:55PM (Terminal 1). The tickets were issued by Alitalia. Do you think 1h40 layover is enough time? I don't know this airport, is it easy/freindly to use as for directions to move around terminals? My parents are elder and they don't speak Engish. Thanks

They will have to follow signs to the AirTrain, take it to Terminal 1, and then go through security. JFK is not a terribly easy to navigate airport but thousands of international travelers manage to use it every day without getting lost. They have enough time as long as their flight from Chicago is on-time.

I am italian, flying from Rome FCO to JFK with 1 checked baggage. I'll land in JFK at 14.45 T1, to then catch the 17.00 flight to SFO (2h15m layover). will this time be enough? do I have to claim baggage and check it it again? do I have to pass border security checks? Regards

In JFK you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, and go through US Customs. If both flights are on the same reservation and your bags are tagged through to SFO, you will then re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then take the AirTrain to Terminal 4 (if your flight to SFO is on Delta), then go through security. You should have enough time.

  • International to domestic flights layover time

I will be arriving from KEF to JFK and a layover of 3 hours until flight back to RDU. It will be on September 11th. Will that be more than enough time to clear customs and connect, especially given the date? Also, will I have to claim baggage at JFK? All flights are on same itinerary with Delta.

Nothing special happens that day at the airport. Yes, in JFK you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags, then if your flight to RDU departs from Terminal 2, go there, and then go through security. You have enough time.

Would there be heightened security on that day? I have a choice of a 3-hr or 5-hr layover. The flight from KEF arrives at JFK at 10:30AM. Which would you recommend?

There are no special security procedures in place normally. The 3 hour layover should be fine.

  • 2 hours layover between Terminal 1 and terminal 4 (non-us citizen)

Hello, I am landing in on Terminal 1 at 4:25 PM on January 11th 2016,via airfrance from Paris and I need to connect to a flight at 6:25 PM delta flight (its on the same ticket) to Seattle at 6:25 PM at terminal 4. I am an Indian citizen so would need to go through standard immigration. Will have one checked in bag. Will 2 hours suffice ? Thank you.

That should be just enough time.

Thank you so much, what would be the best way to get from Terminal 1 to Terminal 4.

The only way between terminals is the AirTrain.

We are flying to JFK on Korean Air and connecting to Jetblue. We have plenty of time but I have had an accident and have trouble walking. Are there carts or something for injured (like me) or seniors (like my 74yr old husband?

  • Terminal Connection time
    Nov 8, 2015

Hi, we will be coming in from Nantucket (Shuttle America-Delta Connection) and then flying to Las Vegas (AA T8) on a Sunday - can you advise which Terminal Shuttle America - Delta Connection comes into? Also we have 1hr 50 min between flights with checked luggage - is this enough time? Thank you.

Your Delta connection flight will arrive in Terminal 4. You should have enough time as long as your flight from Nantucket is on-time and your bags come out reasonably quickly, but you don't have a lot of time to spare if there is a delay.

  • International flight transfer time

Hi - I am transferring between 2 international flights in JFK mid-week. Arriving Jan 7th 6:35am from India (terminal 4) and have a flight to Cancun at 9:15am (terminal 8). Flights are with separate airlines and I have 1 check-in luggage. I am not a US citizen. Will 2hrs 40mins be sufficient time to transfer?

That should be just enough time if the first flight is on-time.

  • Connection from Vegas flight, two different airlines
    Nov 6, 2015

Hello, we're planning on joining a flight from JFK departing midweek for UK at 21.30 from a connecting flight arriving from Vegas on the same evening at 18.45. It will be two different airlines, so no responsibility on their part to guarantee a connection. Is that enough time to clear baggage reclaim and check into our transatlantic flight, or should we look at an earlier flight from Vegas?

Yes, I think that would probably be enough time.

    Thanks you!
