Traveling from Madrid on Iberia Airlines, landing in JFK, transferring to American Airlines to fly to San Diego. Do I have to re-check my bags? How about terminal changes?
You will arrive in Terminal 7, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, re-check your bags at the re-check desk (if they are tagged to SAN), then take the AirTrain to Terminal 8, go through security, and to your departure gate.
Thank you ZAP for the advise. I appreciate it.
I'm flying with Virgin Atlantic tomorrow and arriving at terminal 4 in JFK at 16:40, I then have a Delta flight from JFK to MCO (Orlando) departing from terminal 2 at 18:25. It was all booked under one ticket on the Virgin website. Do I have enough time, and also i've heard about a delta shuttle that keeps you inside the security zone? Does anyone know how this works? Do I to go through immigration, collect back, put on transfer belt, then somehow go back into the terminal to get this shuttle from terminal 4 to 2? Any advice would be great as I fly tomorrow
There is no way to get out of security at JFK. One at every entrance to each terminal. Go through US immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re check your bags at the re check desk AND Then take the AirTrain to terminal 2 go through security and go to your departure gate. You are outside security when doing US Customs. This is a very difficult connection. Is there anything that is a 2hr - 2hr 30min connection? That might help. I have never heard of a transfer belt.
I have been told that for Delta passengers transferring to T2 You will go through security in Terminal 4 after you finish immigration and customs and drop of baggage so long as your ticket and baggage is checked to final destination. Then the Delta shuttle bus will take you to Terminal 2 within the secure zone. I think this is the Delta Jitney shuttle. So you don't leave T4 and use the AirTrain. Is this Still Valid?http://www.delta.com/content/www/en_US/traveling-with-us/airports-and-aircraft/airports/new-york-jfk.html
Flying Virgin tomorrow LHR to MCO via JFK on one Virgin booking. Arrive T4 16:40. Depart T2 18:25 on Delta flight that has Virgin code share. What do I need to do and can I recheck bag in T4 and stay with Security zone. Or done I need to go through Security at T2. How do I get between T4 and T2? Virgin thinks I have enough time!!
You will arrive in T4, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then take the AirTrain to Terminal 2, go through security and to your departure gate. You are outside security when you clear US Customs. This is a very difficult connection.

AirTrain. Can anyone confirm this is valid especially for incoming international Delta flights into T4 with connecting domestic Delta flight from T2
Yes, you can either go through security in T4 and then take the Jitney to T2 or take the AirTrain to T2 and go through security there. Personally I think taking the AirTrain is faster.
Hi, I'm flying Delta from San Fran to JFK & arriving at 9:32pm. My next flight was booked separately with a different airline to South Korea at 12:50am. Is 3 hour transit time enough for me to check out my luggage an check in again to catch my flight? Thanks
Yes, that should be enough time as long as your Delta flight is on-time.
We are flying into JFK arriving at 18.27 with Delta. Under a separate reservation we then have a flight with BA at 21:55. Is that enough time for our connection? How long should we leave?
If the first flight is domestic that should be enough time.
Hi I have a flight from Orlando to JFK via Jetblue. And then right after that will be JFK to Manila via Philippine Airlines. Since I have to different Airlines, do I claim my baggage from Jetblue's arrival then proceed to Terminal 1 to check in for my Philippine Airlines flight? How much time do I need? Also, I have three luggages and I'm travelling alone.
Are your tickets on two separate reservations or one reservation? If it's two separate reservations then yes you will have to claim your bags and transfer them to T1 yourself. I would want at least 3 hours for that transfer.
Yes, two separate reservations. Is there a cart or a shuttle or something I could use to help me carry my luggages?
Yes, you can rent a cart and take it on the airtrain between terminals.
Aren't there porters in JFK?
There's no guarantee you can find one.
I'm flying American Airlines from Phoenix to JFK, to London. I have just under 3 hours separation between arrival to JFK & flight to London. I don't know arrival terminal from phoenix. Will I be changing terminals?--having to go through security again. If I do, is this adequate time?
What airlines are you flying? I can't answer your question without that information.
American Airlines all the way through.
You will arrive and depart from Terminal 8. All you have to do in JFK on your way to London is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You should have plenty of time.
I am planning a flight from Rome to Seattle with a connection in JFK. Is 1.5 hours enough for US citizens to make the connection, both AmericanAirlines flights? Otherwise, how much time is needed?
It's possible if the flight from Rome is on-time and everything goes smoothly.
I am flying from Moscow by Aeroflot arrive at terminal 1, then my next flight to Tampa by Delta at terminal 4. My connection between flights only 2 hours. Will I have enough time? Thank you.
It's barely enough time if everything goes perfectly. Note that your Delta flight may also depart from Terminal 2 so check flight status the day of your flight.
We are travelling on 15th july from MIAMI TO MUMBAI.We wii reach by af2549 operated by delta,at t4 and catch the flight af7 from t1,we have checked in luggage 4 bags. Is it sufficient 4 hours layover.Secondly do we are suppsed to collect checked in bags at jfk. We have tickts from MUMBAI TO MIAMI TO NYC TO MUMBAI
Yes, 4 hours is enough time. You will not have to claim your bags in JFK on your way to Mumbai. You just have to take the AirTrain to T1 and go through security.
