hi I am flying from Aruba by JetBlue to terminal 5 and connecting to EVA air on terminal 1. I have checked bags. The tickets are bought separately. Do I have to collect the checked bags and go through custom and check in again at JFK?
You will pre-clear US Immigration and customs in Aruba. However, you will have to claim your bags from JetBlue, take them on the AirTrain with you to T1, re-check them with Eva, and go through security.
Thank you and appreciate your clear response. Extremely helpful
I am arriving from Las Vegas at 550AM via Jetblue at Terminal 5, then will be catching my Toronto flight via American Airlines at Termina 8l , 925am, with a checked in baggage in both flights. Is 3 hours enough time for me to catch the 925am flight?
Yes, that should be enough time. You will have to transfer your bags yourself between JetBlue and American on the AirTrain.
Thank you
Flying into Term 7 on BA from LHR, connecting in Term 7 to Cathay for flight to YVR. Will I need to go through immigration??
Yes, you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, and go through security.

I arrive with Swissair flight from Zurich to JFK on Wednesday at 3.45pm. I then have another flight from JFK to Montreal at 8.05pm with Delta. The flights are on separate tickets so I need to pick up my luggage, pass customs/immigration and check in again, then presumably pass security/passport check again as well. Do I have enough time to do all of this, or should I rather go without checked luggage?

Yes, that should be enough time. You will arrive in Terminal 4, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then take your bags to the Delta check-in desk also in Terminal 4, check your bags, and go through security. You will go through Canadian immigration and customs when you get to Montreal.
I am flying Air Lingus from Dublin to JFK wth an onward connection to SJU with Jet Blue. I arrive 13:40 and connect at 17:11 ........... All things being equal.
This is a codeshare agreement and on one ticket. All baggage will be checked through to SJU.
I will pre-clear US Customs and Immigration in Dublin.
Being that I arrive into T5 - effectively as an 'internal flight' and depart from T5, will this be a 'sterile transfer', thus avoiding security or will I have to go through it all again?
Yes, all you have to do in JFK is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have plenty of time.
Many thanks ...... that's a relief😀
I am arriving at 6:00 am on El Al at Terminal 4 the Tuesday before Thanksgiving and need to transfer to Jet Blue at Terminal 5. I have Global Entry and will be carrying my luggage. How much time do i need for this transger??
I would look to depart between 8 and 9.
Hi i am travelling by emirates from dubai to fort lauderdalr via jfk. On my baggage tag it says final destination name. So do i have to collect my baggage in jfk and recheck it or will i be gettingn directly in fort lauderdale. My terminals are dubai to jfk on terminal 4 and from jfk terminal 5 to fort lauderdale. Please also let me know on which terminal of jfk i have to collect baggage if at all i have to collect baggage. Thanks
Yes, you still have to claim your bags in JFK to go through US Customs. You will collect your bags in Terminal 4 right after going through US Immigration. You can then re-check them at the re-check desk right after clearing customs in T4.
I am flying on Jetblue to JFK and need to transfer to Delta international. How can I stay inside security to transfer and how long will it take?
You can't stay inside security. If you have checked bags you need at least 3 hours between flights. Without checked bags you can make it with 2-2.5 hours.
My flight the Monday before Thanksgiving arrives at terminal 8 at 2:44pm and then I have to get to terminal 1, check in a bag, go through security, and get to my gate for a flight that leaves 7:22pm. That is around 4 1/2 hours assuming everything gets in on time. Is that enough time? They are two separate tickets, so I will have to pick up the luggage from the one flight and then check it in for the next. I haven't used JFK enough to be familiar with how long it takes. Thanks for any help or advice!
Yes, that should be enough time. What airlines are you flying?
Hi, my flight arrives in JFK at 1215pm (Singapore Airlines) and I plan to take a flight to RDU. Would it be advisable to take a 340pm (Delta Airlines) or 5pm (American Airlines) flight?
Thank you!
I think either would work.
