Hi, I will be flying from CLT to DEL (via JFK & DXB) on Jetblue B6218 arriving JFK 12:37 PM and then Emirates EK 208 departing 14:30 at Terminal 4. I have connection time of 3 hr and 50 minutes at JFK but as I have never been to JFK so I have few queries: a-) I booked my tickets through Emirates so assuming that I need to check in my luggage at CLT (at Jetblue counter )and will get my luggage at final destination only. No need to recheck in the luggage at JFK. Please suggest b-) From where I need to collect Emirates boarding pass for JFK-DXB and DXB-DEL? Will it be at Emirates check in counter or Will I get all boarding passes at CLT by JetBlue? c-) From CLT I will be landing at Terminal 5 and then I need to come to terminal 4 via Airtrain to catch my international flight but where do I need to go through security check? I know one will be at CLT but before entering terminal 4 at JFK do I need to go through security again? d-) where will be Emirates Check in counter on terminal 4? In case if I need to collect my emirates boarding pass then I may need to contact Emirates check in desk. e-) Where I need to deposit my I94? Will it be at Emirates check in counter or at jetblue counter at CLT? Thanks in advance and for your patience to go over lots of questions from me.

Since you booked all your tickets together, JetBlue may be able to issue you all your boarding passes in Charlotte. If not just go to the Emirates desk in Terminal 4 and you can get your boarding passes there. Yes, you will have to go through security in Terminal 4 at JFK. Paper I-94 forms are no longer used, Emirates will report your exit from the US to the US Immigration authorities. However, if you were given a paper I-94 when you entered (for example if you entered a long time ago), you may still want to give the form to the Emirates agent when you board your flight to Dubai.

Hi, I will be flying from DXB to JFK on Emirates EK 201 arriving 14:15 Terminal 4. I will then need to catch domestic flight Jetblue to Charlotte (CLT) at 17:06.I have booked all tickets through Emirates but not sure if 2 hours 50 minutes are enough to go through US Immigration, claim bags, and go through US Customs and at last go to trminal 5 to catch Jetblue flight Can you suggest?

Yes, that should be enough time.

Hi. I'll be flying from MCO to JFK on JetBlue arriving 1832hrs Terminal 5. I'll then need to catch an international flight on SQ departing 2055hrs Terminal 4. I bought the tickets separately and will have a bag to check in. Will I have enough time for connection? Thanks!

It's possible, but you'll need to hope your JetBlue flight is on-time and your baggage comes quickly.

What's the estimate time needed to travel from T5 to T4 departure? I will need to move fast or perhaps run for my life in case of delays. A good gauge will be good.

Hi, I booked flight tickets with American Airlines, but I have only 1hour30 minutes left between my flight connection. Is that enough time? The first terminal is not precised, but the second one will be Terminal 8. Any answer welcome!

Where are you flying from on the first flight? All American Airlines flights use Terminal 8. Is the first flight a codeshare flight? I can't answer your question without this info.

I have a 45 minute connection at New York JFK, arriving from Miami at Terminal 8 at 06.35pm and departing to Manchester, UK at Terminal 8 at 07.20pm. Will I only have to go through immigration, and is this enough time? Flying with American Airlines.

You will not have to go through Immigration or Security. There is no US Immigration when departing the US. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have enough time.

Both flights on Delta. Our baggage will be checked through to Reyjkavic....how long a layover will be needed at JFK?

45 minutes should be plenty. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, both in Terminal 4.

Hi, my mom who doesnt speak english will be arriving from Syracuse by Jetblue and has 1 hour 50 minutes before her Transaero flight takes off to Moscow. Would this be enough time for her? Does she need to pick up her baggage and then chek it in again? She doesn't speak any english, what kind of help is available ?Thanks

If you booked her tickets together her bags will be transferred and all she has to do is follow signs to the AirTrain and then take the AirTrain one stop from T5 to T4. She should have enough time if her first flight is on-time.

Hi, I´ll arrive to JFK T8 from Lima and the take another flight from T7 to Honk Kong, I have 3 hours between flights. Should I pass through Customs considering I´ll not stay at the US? Should it be 3:20 hours enough to take the second flight (different tickets)? Thanks for your guidance in advance.

Yes, upon arrival you will HAVE TO go through US Immigration, claim your bags, and go through US Customs. If your bags are tagged through to HKG you can then re-check them at the transfer desk. Then you will take the AirTrain from T8 to T7, get your Cathay boarding pass and recheck your bags if you haven't done that already, then go through security and to your departure gate. You should have enough time.

    Thanks, really appreciate it.

Arriving at JFK from Cle with a 3 hour layover and departure to Oslo. Separate tickets. Will there be enough time to collect baggage and transfer terminals? Is there an "outbound customs" that we will need to go through?! Thanks!

No, there is no outbound customs. 3 hours should be enough time.

    Thank you!

  • Timing Issues and Questions regarding Security

Hi, Im a Canadian citizen flying from Toronto to JFK by TAM airlines. My flight gets in at 6:30 pm. I have a flight departing from JFK to Stockholm at 9:55 pm that same night with Norweigan Air. My question is will I have to clear security again if I am carrying only carry-on luggage, and if so, how long should I expect to be delayed? I think I have left myself enough tme provided the first flight is not delayed. Any feedback would be greatly appciated and may put my mind at ease.

I am not sure if the TAM flights from Toronto to JFK will be using preclearance (I suspect they will not) so when you arrive in JFK you will probably have to go through US Immigration and Customs, then take the AirTrain from T8 to T1 then go through security. I think you still have enough time since you're only bringing a carry on.

Hi, I am travelling from MCO to JFK via JetBlue and land at 18.33. I then have an hour before i fly to LHR with Virgin from Terminal 4. I will have no checked luggage but i'm concerned i may need to leave a secure area to get between terminals. Am i going to need to run? i booked the tickets seperately and thought an hour would be enough as when i did the same thing at North Carolina, we walked out of the gate opposite to our connecting flight. After confirmation with this one i see that its different terminals. i am now panicking.

Yes, you do need to exit the secure area to change terminals. You may also not be able to check in for your Virgin flight online because it is international. If so, you will have missed the check-in cutoff by the time you arrive in New York. I would definitely try to get on an earlier flight to JFK, either by paying the JetBlue change fee now or doing a same day change on the day of your flight to an earlier flight.

Thank you for you reply. I can check in on-line before we fly out of MCO. It opens 24 hours before i fly and can print off boarding passes or have them on my phone to show. so i only need to get from T5 to T4. I gues it will be tight but its going to cost £800 to change a $1000 flight. i will try on the day but its only as availibility allows. I hope i can make the transfer in about 30 minutes if i cant change the tickets.

  • International-Domestic Connection Time

I am arriving at JFK on an international flight to terminal 4 at 9:05 PM. I have to make it to an 11 PM domestic flight out of terminal 5. Is 2 hours enough time to go through customs, collect baggage, and make it to the flight?

Did you purchase your tickets together or separately? What airline are you flying into Terminal 4? If you purchased tickets together you should be OK. If separately it might be hard for you to get to T5 in time to check your bag, so you might want to consider just bringing a carry-on if that's possible. Then you can just check-in online for your JetBlue flight before leaving on your first flight.

We arrive on a SAA flight from Johannesburg at 06h40 at JFK. We are planning to fly out on JetBlue at 09h31 to Orlando. Is 2:50 hours enough to clear customs, collect baggage, change terminals and recheck?

Yes, that should be enough time.
