I am flying from Canada to JFK with Delta and arriving at 9:30 pm my flight for Iceland with Delta from JFK leaves the same night at 10:30 pm. Is it possible to make this connection with checked baggage ?

Yes, it is possible. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Canada. All you have to do in JFK is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

  • Jet Blue to AA

I will be flying from Rochester to JFK on Jetblue, then from JFK to Honolulu on American Airlines, and wondering if I will need to exit the terminal, and re-enter security, or if I can go directly to the next terminal without exiting security. Will they check my bags all the way through if it is on a separate ticket purchase? If not, I am considering carrying on my luggage the whole way if it would mean I didn't have to exit and re-enter security. But if I have to exit security to change terminals anyways, then I might as well check luggage and collect at baggage claim and then re-check. Any ideas?

No, they will not check your bags through to AA. JetBlue and AA no longer have an interline baggage agreement. You will arrive in Terminal 5 and depart from Terminal 8. They are not connected inside security. You will have to go through security again in Terminal 8.

Does Delta have this interairline agreement with AA?

Yes, but both tickets will have to be purchased on the same reservation in order for bags to be checked through.

  • Connecting flight
    Jul 10, 2015
I am coming from toronto in AA flight landing at terminal 8. Have my next AA operated Etihadflight to abu dhabi after 2.5 hours fromterminal 4.. Will i make it? I have checked baggage too? Do i have to do immigration n customs?

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. If both tickets were purchased on the same reservation all you have to do in JFK is take the AirTrain from T8 to T4, get your Etihad boarding pass, and go through security. If you purchased two separate reservations you will just have to claim your bags from AA in T8 first before doing that, and re-check your bags with Etihad in T4. Either way you should have enough time if your first flight is on-time.

  • 58 minute layover enough time?
    Jul 9, 2015
Aer Lingus is advertising a flight from Syracuse, NY to Dublin, Ireland with a connection in JFK. The layover time is 58 minutes, but there are no terminals listed yet so we are trying to determine if this would be enough time for a connection? Thank you for the help!

The first flight is probably on JetBlue. Both flights would be in Terminal 5. All you have to do in JFK is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. That would be enough time.

  • Delta Domestic to International
    Jul 9, 2015
What's the chance of making a 1 hr 10 min connection from a domestic flight to an international flight on Delta? Seem like it's not really realistic to me, but the other option is a 6 hr layover (though that leaves time for Shake Shack at least!)

It's definitely possible. You will arrive in Terminal 2 or 4 and depart from Terminal 4. If both flights are in 4 all you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. If you arrive in 2, Delta runs a shuttle bus inside security to Terminal 4.

  • International Terminal 1 to Terminal 5 time
    Jul 8, 2015
I'm traveling on Turkish Air flight 1 arriving at Terminal 1 at 4:50pm (and from flight stats most likely an hour late) and need to get to Terminal 5 Jet Blue leaving at 8:02PM...can I make it?

It's possible. Check in for your JetBlue flight online before you leave Turkey to save you some time in New York.

  • Terminal 4 to Terminal 5 (Delta/Jet Blue)
    Jul 8, 2015
Do you have to go through security to change terminals? Trying to make connection from Delta arriving at 10:30 to Jet Blue departing at 11:22. Best I can tell Delta is Terminal 4, Jet Blue is 5.

Yes, you will have to go through security again in Terminal 5. With checked bags there is absolutely no chance of making this connection. With no checked bags you could possibly make it if your Delta flight is on-time (which is a huge if), you check in online for your JetBlue flight, and you absolutely sprint to the AirTrain to Terminal 5, to security, and to your gate. I would not attempt that connection.

  • Please Help! CPT > SCHIPOL / SCHIPOL > JFK / JFK > New Orleans
    Jul 6, 2015
We plan on flying from Cape Town to New Orleans with KLM, all stops on 1 ticket, entering the US at JFK, do we need to collect our bags, go through customs and border control, go re-check them and then still have enough time to make our flight? What is the process like? Is it very stressful to get your bags and re-check them? Or do they check all of that on our last stop New Orleans?

Yes, in JFK you will arrive in Terminal 4, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then re-check your bags at the re-check desk immediately after. Then you will go through security and to your departure gate, which will also be in Terminal 4.

  • Connection time
    Jul 6, 2015
Hello, my mom is traveling from Poland today. Her flight from Poland got delayed and she is not scheduled to land at 5pm with her connection flight on jet blue leaving at 6.33PM. She has a wheel chair and has to do immigration and customs. Does t speak much English.. Shall I change her connection flight

If she is on two separate reservations, i would definitely recommend trying to change her second flight. If it is all one reservation they should take care of that for her. She may even make her connection (since she has wheelchair service to speed her through procedures and there's always a chance the second flight will be delayed too).

  • International to domestic connection time
    Jul 5, 2015
Hi , we are travelling in late July to MCO via JFK all on ..and booked by American airways. We have a 1hr 50 window between the flights, will this be enough as I am now worried about the time taken to clear customs and security etc. we are travelling with checked baggage and an autistic child who really could do without the stress.

Yes, that should be enough time if your first flight is on-time.

Hi, I am flying from Hong Kong to JFK on CX830, landing at 1:05 PM in T7. I'm debating whether to take the Delta flight leaving JFK T4 at 15:25. I have to clear immigration and customs then collect 1 bag , head to T4 check in my bag at Delta and go through security. I will be flying Business class on CX and plan to fly First Class on Delta. I will have separate tickets, and will have 1 checked bag and 1 carry-on. I am a UK citizen. Thanks

slightly over 2 hours is possible if everything goes smoothly.

  • connecting turkish airlines flight to dom. american airlines flight
    Jul 4, 2015
Hi, I am hoping for some good advice. I am flying from Istanbul to JFK on Turkish Airlines, landing at 11.20 am in T1, and have to catch a connection on American Airlines leaving JFK T8 at 15:20. I'm worried whether this 4 hours of connection time is enough to make it to second flight. I have to go through customs and borders first, then collect bags in that terminal, transit to T8, check in bags again at American Airlines plus go through security at T8? I am not a US citizen. I bought separate tickets, and I plan to check 1 bag and 1 backpack.

4 hours should be enough time. Yes, you have the procedure correct.

doing the same connection we are (9 of us) coming in on Turkish @4:50...LV from T1 @ 6:50. Can we get there in time?

    Jul 2, 2015
I'm traveling VCE-JFK-AUS. My plane lands in JFK at 5:04 at terminal 4 and my connecting flight leaves at 7:25 at terminal 2. I have 2 checked bags and a carryon. Having never flown international before, is 2:21hrs enough time to make the connecting flight? Because its the last flight from JFK to AUS for the day.

Yes, that should be enough time if your flight from Venice is on-time.

  • Transferring from international flight to domestic flight
    Jul 12, 2015
Hi, I am transferring from my international flight which is from LHR to JFK on Norwegian air to my domestic flight from JFK to Buffalo, NY on JetBlue. My international flight gets in at 9:20pm and my next flight is due to leave at 10:50pm. I am hold a british passport and have a tourist visa. Do you think I will be able to get to my 2nd flight in that hour and a half? Thanks

No, I do not. If you are planning on bringing checked baggage I see no way that you will get your bags to the JetBlue counter in Terminal 5 before the bag cutoff, especially considering that the Norwegian flight is frequently late. I would plan on spending the night in NYC and flying to Buffalo the next morning.

Thank you. How long does it take on average to transfer between terminal 2 and terminal 7? Also how long between terminal 4 and terminal 7? Thank you

This is because I am flying in from buffalo to jfk on delta so will be arriving in either terminal 2 or 4 and then flying on BA to Heathrow 2hrs 30mins later. Would i have enough time or should I book an earlier delta flight?

  • Terminal 1 to Terminal 4
    Jun 30, 2015
Hi, I am an Indian Female flying DEL-CDG-JFK-MSY on a single ticket with Delta. I will be landing on Terminal T1 in JFK and have my connecting flight to MSY from Terminal T-4. I have a gap of 2hrs 04 min between the flights. I would like to know if i need to pass through immigration on T1 for my connecting flight. How much time would it take to board a train after deboarding the my flight at JFK and much further to Terminal 4. Thanks in advance.

Yes, upon arrival in T1 you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, and re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then take the AirTrain to Terminal 4, and go through security. You should have enough time. Also check the monitors or delta.com or the Delta App, there's a chance your flight to MSY may depart from Terminal 2, in which case it would be better to take the AirTrain there.
