Flying in to jfk from Detroit and have 50 minutes to connect to London Heathrow all with delta. Will this give me enough time??

Yes, that should be enough time. If your flight from Detroit is operated by Delta Connection then both flights will be in Terminal 4 and all you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. If your flight from Detroit is operated by regular Delta mainline you will arrive in Terminal 2 and have to take the shuttle bus to Terminal 4 (it runs inside security).

Sorry I got it wrong the flight is from Orlando international (Mco) to jfk and then to Heathrow will this make a difference?

In that case you will almost definitely arrive in Terminal 2 and have to take the shuttle to Terminal 4.

I am flying in to JFK at 7:25AM at Terminal 4 via Air India flight AI-101 and my next flight (Delta Airlines DL-4261) leaves at 11:05AM from Terminal 4 itself. I am arriving with F1 Student Visa. Do I need checkout my bags and clear through security to go to my connecting flight?

Yes, you need to do that, but you should have enough time as long as your Air India flight is on-time. If your tickets were bought on two separate reservations you will have to take your bags to the Delta check in desk to re-check them to your destination and you will have to pay a checked bag fee.

Thanks for the reply ZAP, my tickets are ought on same reservation online.

  • Arrive T2 connection T5 2hours layover, is possible?

I have one ticket for the whole flight, but different companies. Arrive at T2 by TAM airlines at 7:40 from Rio de Janeiro. Connect with JetBlue T5 at 9:45 (2hs5m layover). Bag checked and immigration is necessary. It is possible that I catch my flight on time?

TAM does not fly into Terminal 2. They fly into Terminal 8. You will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, take the AirTrain to Terminal 5 and go through security. You have just enough time if everything goes perfectly.

Thank you very much for your replay. In my ticket is Terminal 2. I hope I can do well

I assure you you will not arrive in Terminal 2 at JFK. The Terminal 2 you see is referring to your departure terminal from Rio de Janeiro.

    Yes, you are totally right!

Purchased single reservation through Delta.com. Depart BOS via Delta at 2:50pm, landing in JFK (terminal 2) at 4:15pm. I then have to get to Terminal 1 for a flight operated by Alitalia to FCO that departs at 6:05pm. I plan/hope to check bags at BOS and have them go directly to FCO. Will we need to go through security again at JFK, and if so, is the 1 hr 50 min layover time enough? Full flight purchased through Delta.com as one reservation so I assume so, but it seems tight if I need to possibly go through security again if my initial flight from BOS becomes delayed a certain amount.

Yes, you will have to go through security again in Terminal 1. It is possible as long as the flight frm Boston is on-time.

  • 2 hour connection at JFK Iberia airlines to Sun Country - enuogh time?

June 30, I will be arriving on Iberia, connecting to Sun Country in JFK with a two hour layover. Assuming everything is on time and there are no unusual circumstances, will that be enough time to clear customs and get to my connection? They are on separate reservations. Thanks!

With checked bags I don't think that is realistic. You might be able to make it without checked bags.

  • 1hr. 5min. lay over for international travel

I am looking at traveling from RDU to JFK via Delta arriving at 4:32pm and then taking another Delta flight at 5:39pm to Athens, Greece. Booking tickets all at same time and should be able to check back from RDU to Athens, correct? Is this 1 hour window enough time to connect and go through whatever customs check that we will need to?

There is no US Customs when exiting the US. All you have to do at JFK is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have enough time.

Thanks! How about our checked bags? If we are flying on Delta, do you think an hour is enough time for them to make our flight to Athens? I'm now looking at an arrival from RDU in JFK at 6:45pm and a departure from JFK to Athens at 7:30pm- only a 45 minute connection. I'm worried that may be cutting it too close.

My flight from Amsterdam (AMS) arrives at 11:41 am at terminal 4. My connecting flight to STI departs at 2:00 pm from the same terminal. I have checked baggage, do I have to clear customs and go through check in and security again?

I should add that both flights are with Delta Airlines.

  • Arriving LHR-JFK leaving Jet Blue to LAX

Greetings. We are arriving British Airlines from London at 6:50pm on a Tuesday and need to catch a Jet Blue flight to LAX at 9:30pm. Will we have time to clear immigration/customs and domestic security and get to the Jet Blue flight? Thanks!

With checked bags it will be difficult. Without checked bags you stand a pretty good chance.

Looking at flying CDG-JFK (AF) arriving 10:25am on a Thurs and then switching to an AA ticket go JFK-DCA at 11:50am. No checked baggage. Trying to save some time off the Delta connecting flight that leaves for DCA 3hrs later than AA and figured the arrival hall at JFK may not be totally bananas at 10:30am.

It might be possible with no checked bags, but I personally wouldn't try it.

  • Terminal 8 in 1 hour?
    Apr 24, 2016

I am thinking of booking an itinerary on AA partners from Helsinki (HEL) to Seattle (SEA) with a connection in JFK Terminal 8. Unfortunately, the time between the flights is only 65 minutes: 4:55pm to 6:00pm on a Saturday. Do you think this could work? I have Global Entry.

With Global Entry and no bags it might be possible, but it's certainly well below the allowed minimum International to domestic connection time at JFK.

    Okay. Thanks for replying.

My son is connecting through JFK AA from Dublin connecting on AA to Montreal, both flights arrive and depart through terminal 8. He's a Canadian Citizen, will he need to clear US Immigration and customs and re check his bags for his flight to Montreal? Thanks for assistance.

He will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Dublin (like you do in Canada). In JFK all he has to do is walk from his arrival gate to his departure gate.

Hi, I will be flying Emirates from Milan (MXP) to JFK and will arrive at 7PM. Will I be able to clear customs, collect baggage, and check bags for and American Airlines flight from JFK to Washington DC (DCA) at 9:30PM? Thanks!

It's barely possible if everything goes perfectly.

Thanks for responding! Do you have an idea of ideally how long I should give myself? Also would I be arriving and departing from different terminals? Thanks again!!!

Yes, you will arrive in Terminal 4 and depart from Terminal 8. Ideally you'd want 3 hours.

    Thank you so much ZAP!

Hello, I have the following trip booked: - DCA to JFK American Airlines arriving at 19:00 - JFK to SCL (Santiago Chile) Lan Airlines departing at 20:00 Do I need to go through security again to take my connection? I'm assuming if yes, then I don't have enough time to make it. Any insights on that? Thanks!

    Awesome! Thanks a lot!
