I will be landing at terminal 4 ELAL at 15:20/ How long would you expect it to take to go through immigration and customs (American citizen) wthout luggage? Have times significantly changed since the new passport kiosks have been added? How long to get to terminal 8 and go through security and get to American Airlines?

It should take maybe 30 minutes to get through immigration. It will take you maybe another 15 to get to T8, then however long security takes (anywhere between 5 and 30 minutes).

I will arrive at JFK T1 from LAP at 4.15pm and depart to FCO T1 at 6pm is it enough time?

LAP is La Paz, Mexico, which does not have flights to JFK. Where are you actually arriving from? (La Paz, Bolivia also does not have flights to JFK). Is your arrival into JFK domestic or international?

Sorry We not arrive from LAP but from MEX....

Yes, that should be enough time, but if there are any delays you may have trouble meeting the bag cutoff with Alitalia if you have to transfer bags yourself. However, Aeromexico should be able to tag your bags through to Rome in La Paz since both airlines are in SkyTeam.

What is the average time it takes for a US citizen with only carry on luggage to clear immigration and customs? Arriving June 17th at 5 PM

It also depends what Terminal, but I would budget somewhere between 30 and 45 minutes.

Is 90 min long enough btw flights to get through customs? Arriving on Delta from Milan and connecting to SFO (also a Delta flight). We will not have checked baggage, and I believe both flights are terminal 2. Thanks!

Yes, that should be enough time but doesn't leave much room for delays. Actually, both of your flights will be in Terminal 4.

I have an international flight landing at 15:20 at terminal 4 and a connecting flight on American leaving at 17:55 terminal 8. My return flights have me arriving at terminal 8 at 16:45 and departing on an international flight at 19:00/ Is this sufficient time?

It should be enough time, even if you have to transfer bags yourself, as long as there are no delays.

  • transfer between terminals 5 and 7

What, please, is the quickest way to get from terminal 5 to terminal 7? I have about a 2-hour window early in the morning (6-ish); I thought there would be plenty of time but some of the other comments about time needed are unnerving!

Since all Terminal 5 arrivals are domestic you should have enough time. The only way between the two terminals is the AirTrain/Air Terminals Train which runs outside security.

  • Do I have enough time??

I am arriving at JFK from Chicago at 12:40pm on April 20th at terminal 2. I have a connecting flight to Moscow at 2:20pm out of terminal 1. Is 1hr and 40 min enough time!?

Delta should be able to check your bags through in Chicago, so if your first flight is on-time you should be OK, but if there's any delays you'll be in trouble.

I arrive on a Sunday on Swiss Air flight 14 from Zurich at 3:50 pm, presumably in Terminal 4. There is a jet blue flight I would like to take at 5:30 pm in Terminal 5. Will I have enough time? Thank you

It doesn't leave enough time in my opinion, since you would probably have to transfer the bags yourself and get them checked-in at JetBlue's counter before the bag cut-off. Maybe if you didn't have checked baggage it would be doable.

We will arrive at JFK from JAX (t5) with JetBlue and depart to Dubai with Emirates (t4). Is 1 hour and 30 min enough?

Yes, if both of you bought your tickets on one reservation your bags will be transferred automatically and all you have to do is take the Airtrain from T5 to T4 and go through security.

Hi. I'm flying with AA to LA via T8. As I will preclear customs at Dublin how do I get from the arrivals level up to the departure gates without having to go through customs again. Thank you.

Since you pre-clear immigration, you won't have to go through to the arrivals level, you will come out the door on the departure level of the terminal, like a domestic flight would.

  • Enough time to connect from Istanbul flight to domestic flight?

If I arrive from Istanbul at 4:30 p.m. on a Thursday at Terminal 1, does an 8:30 p.m. American Airlines flight from Terminal 8 to LAX give me enough time to get thru passport control, customs, recheck baggage, and get to Terminal 8? I haven't flown thru JFK recently but have heard horror stories

Yes, 4 hours should be plenty of time.

We will be arriving on a Delta flight at T2. Our Alitalia flight (bought on a Delta ticket) will depart from T1. Will we need to go through security at T1? What is the minimum we should allow between flights?

Yes, you will have to go through security to depart from T1. Allow at least 90 minutes for your transfer.

Thanks for the info. We'll plan on it.

we will arrive at JFK from LAX (t4) with delta and depart to MXP with Emirates (t4). Is 1 hour and 30 minutes enough?

    That is enough time.

U think we get collect our baggage in New York?!

Were your tickets bought on one reservation or separate? If they were bought on separate reservations you will have to transport your baggage from the Delta baggage claim to the Emirates ticket counter as Delta does not check bags through to destinations bought on separate itineraries.

Will be enough time even if I have to take baggages? Thank you!

i have a 3+ hour layover arriving in jfk from san fran on american airlines and leaving jfk on hawaiian air for honululu (yes, a bizarre routing i know!). i have a delta sky club membership and would like to go there : 1. do i have to exit my arrival terminal, enter security to get to delta sky club, then exit delta terminal, and re-enter security for my hawaiian air departure terminal?...OR...is there a way to do this without having to deal with security? thanks!

You will arrive at AA's Terminal 8 & depart your Hawaiian flight at T5; however, Delta Sky Club is in T4 POST-SECURITY(near gate 32). All terminals are reached by the Airline Terminals train, running counter-clockwise OUTSIDE of security. Contact Delta & see what you need to do to use their Sky Club.

  • 2 hr 35 min enough for terminal 2 to 4 transfer?

Delta flight arriving at 8:45am at terminal 2 (i assume), Emirates flight leaving at 11:20am from terminal 4. Tickets were not purchsed together. Can I use the Delta shuttle to get to Terminal 4? No baggage will be checked. Is this enough time to make the Emirates flight?

While you might not be able to use the Delta shuttle, you will have plenty of time taking the airline terminal train (going counter-clockwise) to T4, but there need to go through security check before proceeding to your departing gate.
