  • Will I have enough time?

Arriving JFK on Emirates on Wednesday, June 29 7 pm with 10:45 pm JetBlue flight to LAX. Will we have enough time getting bags and going through TSA? 8 in party including kids. Thanks.

Yes, that should be enough time.

Thanks! Was worrying a bit with the recent TSA delay headlines and record summer travel predicted. I hope those lines are shorter in the evening.

  • Connecting flight

I will be arriving from Amsterdam and have to get a connecting flight to Cincinatti. Do I have to pass through passport control or can I proceed straight to my departure gate. I have a 2 hour layover in New York. is this enough time?

Yes, in JFK you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go through security and to your departure gate. Assuming both flights are on KLM/Delta you have just enough time.

  • Destination Wedding party to Punta Cana (14 people) on same flight

How early should we arrive for a 1:30pm flight from JFK to Punta Cana. I am hearing at least 3 hours to get through security customs etc. Do you feel this is adequate time to board our JetBlue flight? We want to make sure we all get there on time and no one gets left behind. We are all arriving via different cars.

That's the recommended time, but honestly in the mid-afternoon you can probably get away with a little less, so don't panic if everyone isn't there right at 10:30.

Hi! I will be coming from ACC to Mco and going through jfk as my connecting flight to Florida. Do I need to go through the immigration process there? I am a US citizen and asking because I heard the people out of U.S. needs to go through the immagration/homeland security process.

Yes, if you are entering the US at JFK you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags, and go through security there before going to your connecting gate.

Do you think I'll have enough time? After the us customs and such, I have to go to a different terminal and old have 95 minutes

When you say recheck, do you mean going to the front desk to get my bag under the plane.? If so, that is going to be a pain in the neck of getting to my flight on time

Hello, I am a non US-citizen I will be arriving to JFK at 8:40 am from Dubai (Emiarte airlines, Terminal 4). I need to catch a flight that I booked separately at 12 pm noon (American airlines , Terminal 8). Will I have enough time to pass through immigration, get my luggage, change terminals and check in with my bags at AA? Also will I need to pass through all security check all over again? Thank you

Yes, you will have to go through security again in Terminal 8. you have barely enough time if everything goes smoothly.

  • TSA wait times

I heard that wait times have been very long. Wondering with TSA pre-check and traveling internationally, how far in advance should I arrive at the airport on a Saturday night?

2 hours just to be safe. Pre-check will definitely help.

  • How long should I expect to clear JFK Terminal 4

Hi. I'm flying into JFK Terminal 4 on Delta from LAX, due to arrive 2.50pm on a Monday. Any ideas how long it will take to clear security etc? Also time to then get to Penn Station? My final destination is Philadelphia and I need to get there ASAP that day! Many thanks.

You do not have to go through security when you arrive. You should be able to get to Penn Station around 4 PM if your flight arrives on-time.

I am arriving on a JetBlue flight from Montego Bay at 3:40pm, do I have enough time to get through immigration and customs to get on my next JetBlue flight at 5:40 pm? It is supposed to be at the same terminal

Yes, that should be enough time and yes, they will both be in Terminal 5.

  • Inter terminal connection

I am flying in terminal 5 Jet Blue airline and my connecting flight Emirates at terminal 4. I have only 1 Hour 30 minutes. Is it sufficient to catch the flight? Secondly are there any inter terminal connection bus services like EWR airport?

If these are on two separate reservations it is impossible. If it is on one reservation you have a chance. You will have to go through security again in Terminal 4, there is no connections to or from Terminal 5 inside security.

Do you go through regular security at jfk or customes, when leaving from New York City itself, on an international flight?

There is no US Customs when leaving the US. You just have to go through security like any other flight.

How many days can i stay in USA at C1 US TRANSIT VISA? Once immgriation and customes done.

The officer who admits you puts the limits of days the visa is valid based on your travel plans, but it cannot be valid for more than 29 days.

Thanks for your reply.. I have on only one day hotel reservation at Miami. Next day i will fly on my final destination. I Hope can i get one day permission to stay in USA.

  • Enough time between flights

We arrive from Rome at 4:30 PM at terminal 4 on Delta with two checked bags. Do we have to go through customs at JFK? Will we have enough time to catch our 6:30 PM flight out of terminal 2 at 6:30 PM?

Yes, in JFK you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, and go through US Customs. Then if your flight does depart from T2, you can either go through security in T4 and take the shuttle to T2 or take the AirTrain to T2 and go through security there. You should have just enough time.

  • is 2.5 hours connection time sufficient?

I am arriving JFK on Delta Airline at 1829 hours and need to connect to Singapore Airline that is departing at 2055 hrs. Will I be on time for the Singapore Airline flight?

Do you have checked bags? Is the Delta flight domestic or international? With checked bags on a domestic flight this is possible but difficult. International to International this will be very difficult.

  • connecting from a domestic to international flight booked separately

I will be originating in ATL with a separate flight (already booked) from JFK to Germany. When booking my flight from ATL to JFK how much time should I give myself to get through the process? I'm not sure if I will have to check a bag in which case I assume I will have to go through security again..?

Depending on what airlines you're flying you may have to go through security anyway regardless of whether you check a bag. With a checked bag I definitely recommend 3 hours between flights.

I'm looking at a flight with Delta into JFK landing at 2:33 and my flight into Germany is with Air Berlin departing at 5:25. That should be enough time?

That should be just about enough time.

  • Security or not? connecting domestic to international flight
    Apr 22, 2016

Hi, I have a domestic flight with Virgin arriving JFK then an international flight to Paris departing with XL Airway (I understand it's the same terminal?). The flights are booked on different reservations, the layover time is about 2 hours. Do I need to go through security again or just go to my departure gate, as I am leaving the country, not entering it?

If you do not have checked bags you can go directly to your XL Airways France gate. If you do have checked bags you will have to claim them, re-check them with XL Airways, then go through security.
