  • 1hour 40 minutes transit in JFK T8

Hi there, I was hoping you could advise on the following matter: I'll be arriving on a QR flight from Doha, Qatar at 1500. My baggage would be priority tagged. I was hoping to hop on an AA flight to Boston at 1640. Considering that both flights are in T8, would you reckon 1 hour 40 minutes be sufficient? Thank you.

At JFK, international arrivals need to go through passport check, pick up bags and go through customs clearance (a process taking at non-rush hours between 35-50 mins.) If you make reservations for both flights on one ticket and Qatar will transfer bags to connecting flight (do ask - not all airlines transfer) you will not have to go to AA ticket desk or check-in automat to get your boarding pass and re-check-in your bags, which would add another half hour. - still you should be able to make it.

thank you for the boost of confidence.

  • Meeting place at Terminal 4

I need to find a meeting place at Terminal 4 (International flight) for someone coming in (Domestic) at Terminal 3.

    1. As an international arrival, you need to go through passport check, pick up your bag, go through customs clearance and (if continuing flight later on, re-check-in your bag. 2. Your party arriving at T3 should head for the Airtrain station outside of domestic arrivals - it will arrive at T4 inside the arrivals level, center. Meet them in the Arrivals Hall near the Information counter. Note that most eating facilities are inside security, Airtrain serves areas outside of security.

  • Estimated Time through Customs

I will be returning to America via Virgin Atlantic @ 12:20pm to JFK and will need to take Shuttle to Newark for 4:30 flight. Can anyone tell me what would be the estimated time from disembarking plane-clearing customs/immigration to getting shuttle? I see the shuttle runs every hour, is this doable or should I try for a later flight in Newark?

You arrive at JFK via Virgin Atlantic at Terminal 4. You need to go through passport check, pick up bag, & go through customs clearance (taking between 35-50 mins). To get to Newark Liberty, you would be able to take the Airtrain, however, it would involve a number of change-overs to subways & is not recommended to someone not familiar with the area. These are the options (other than taking taxi or limo (75-90 mins): (a) AirTrain JFK (877) 535-2478; State Shuttle 800-427-4207 (90 mins.); (b) ETS Air Shuttle 718-221-5341 (1 hr); (c) Newark Liberty Airport Express Bus 877-8-NEWARK (90-125 mins). (d) (For private limos & van service go to Ground Transportation Information Counter in the baggage claim area.)

  • Baggage not delivered from JFK!!!

"I m absolutely disappointed and NOT satisfied with the organization at the airport!!! Loads of people, and we had to wait 1 and a half hour in the queue to just CHECK our baggage IN. And the WORST is, I didn t recieve my baggage when I arrived from NY to Budapest. They ve told me that it is still at the JFK airport!! The 3rd day I am without my baggage, where I had my personal belongings, also gifts for my family. Just imagine coming home from your holiday without your baggage. It is ridiculous that it can still happen in the 21st cnetury! I am really angry and sad, cos since 1st July I didn t recieved my baggage. Tried to call the airport several times, and nothing happened... Shame on you"

In the future, try to check in online, print out boarding pass and baggage tags, then simply drop off bags in designated area. However, as to your baggage you need to contact your airline or its baggage handler company - not the airport.

June 22 flight cancelled. Neither AA or JFK provided any food or WATER to stranded passengers. They were left stranded at midnight and told flight would leave at 6am. Nothing available for these passengers. NO customer care reps available. Passengers left stranded.

I arrive on flight Alitalia 3389 from Cincinnati Ohio I leave on Flight Alitalia 7605 to Rome. I have a 30 minute connection time..will I be able to make it between terminals in that amount of time?

Alitalia arrives/departs at JFK in Terminal 1, which has only 11 gates - on arrival look up your gate number for your departing flight and walk over to that gate. You have enough time.

  • Non english speaking person assistance

Hi to all, a person who doesn't speak english at all will have to change a flight at JFK this Friday. Is there the possibility that someone picks her up at the exit of the plane till the gate of the leaving flight? I booked the flight with 3 hours distance, but the company changed the second one and now she has less than 2 hours. Thanks in advance.

Presuming your friend is an international arrival at JFK, he/she needs to go through passport check, retrieve checked bags, go through customs clearance and - if transferring to another flight - re-check-in bag (the tag should indicate layover and final destination Airport Codes); taking about 30-45 mins. Thereafter he/she board the AirTrain to the connecting terminal. Familiarize yourself with the airport layout by opening www.ifly.com/jfk and clicking on "Maps & Directions" / "Airport Map", there scroll down to terminal descriptions. Also click on "Airlines served" under "Flights & Hotels" to see where he/she arrives / departs from. Large Airports have internationally-recognizable signs guiding them.

  • gate number

Good afternoon. Arrive in JFK April 13 from Helsinki (AA 6025). Nowhere did I find the story of how Gate uses this flight. I have a short connection, and I want to know in advance how and where to run. Can you help?

    1. You arrive at JFK at Terminal 8 (T8); you did not state the name of the connecting airline; however, if it is American Eagle, your connection would be in the same terminal. T8 has concourse B with gates 1-16 and Concourse C with gates 31-47. Look at your ticket to see from which Terminal your connecting flight departs from - there are seven terminals: T1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7 & 8 - all arranged in a semi-circle. 2. If transferring international to domestic flights; ask your flight attendant prior to arrival at JFK to hand you a tag which will give you an express pass through security upon arrival. 3. The AirTrain connects all terminals, running 24/7 every 8 mins on average. (You can also walk to your connecting terminal, but need to go through security check again). NOTE: International arrivals need go through passport check, retrieve checked bags, go through customs clearance and - if transferring to another flight - re-check-in bag (the tag should indicate layover and final destination Airport Codes).

my name is Yue Shi, I lost my baggage in JFK airport Terminal 4 on Dec.12. It is a red 158 size baggage. I took EK 202 from JFK to DXB on Dec. 12 and EK 306 from DXB TO PEK on Dec.14. I found that I lost a baggage when I arrived in PEK but I really gave all my baggage to workers in JFK. I really need your help for me to find it because there are really considerable valuable staff in it. Thank you very much!!!!

These are JFK rules: "Any item lost on board an aircraft, in the airline terminal or curbside - with an airline tag - is turned in to the appropriate airline. Please contact your airline's baggage service office for further information."

pls advise if possible to rent a meeting room at Jfk apt terminal 1

JFK site does not show or list any meeting rooms in any of the terminals. I would suggest you call 718 244 2444 (JFK's general number) or go to Traveler Services at pre-security's arrivals level east.
