Im flying from BOS to JFK and then to Cambodia. first flight is JETBLUE, second flight is China Southern Airlines, all on same reservation. Can I check my bags all the way through in BOS? Is a 1hour 46 min layover enough time? Do I go through customs in BOS or JFK? Thanks

I answered this the other place you posted your question. There is no US Customs when leaving the US.

  • Do I have to go through security?

I'm flying from SYR to JFK on Delta and continue to Seoul on Asiana Airlines. These are separate roundtrip tickets. Will I have to go through security again at JFK?

Yes, you will have to claim your bags from Delta, re-check them with Asiana, and go through security. You need at least 2 hours for your transfer.

I will not be checking any bags. Will I still need to go through security again?

In that case no. Either check in online for your Asiana flight or if you can't, you should be able to get your boarding pass from the Asiana gate.

  • Delay

Does anybody know what's going on in Jfk my husband was supposed to depart at 3:25 still sitting in the airplane . Delta flight 43 no news on when they will take off.

There was a large line of storms that are passing through the New York area this afternoon and evening and the entire airspace is a mess. Every flight to or from New York is delayed. I'm guessing that due to the extended delay, the crew of your husband's original flight timed out and they have to get a reserve crew.

Thank you !! They really didn't give him much details.

My husband and me are arriving to JFK from tlv (Elal)and are checked through to DC(AA). Besliste that the twin babies we also have alot of Luggage. We are very worried how to get the luggage and the babies from the baggage claim to security - to check in. Are there any services that we could make us of to help? Are there any policies for families with babies?

There are carts you can use. Services are not allowed in the International baggage claim.

Are there special lines for parents with babies?

    No, there are not.

  • Connecting in flight in JFK to YYZ

I'm flying from EDI and arriving to JFK as my connecting flight at 12:50 pm. I then have a flight from JFK to YYZ at 3:20 pm. Is that enough time for a connection? What's the total process? I fly to JFK on American Airlines and then I fly to YYZ on American Airlines but it's operated by Trans States as American Eagle

You will arrive in Terminal 8, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go through security and to your departure gate, also in Terminal 8. If you are UK Citizens you will have to complete ESTA before your trip. You should have enough time.

  • How does a international to domestic transfer work?

I'm a US citizen planning a flight from Europe and flying into JFK and then continuing onto a domestic flight. I don't have to leave the airport for anything, but will I need to go through customs or do I go through customs at my final destination?

Yes, in JFK you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, and go through US Customs. Then you will have to re-check your bags, go to your departure terminal and through security.

Thanks, seems like it will take more than a hour or two to do all of that then.

I recommend at least 2 hours if both tickets are on the same reservation and 3 hours if purchasing two separate reservations.

    cool cool, thanks!

I travel from Buenos Aires to NY this weekend, arrival 7 am in NY and I have a connection to the 17 hs to Barcelona. I have my American tourist visa. Can I exit the airport to walk a few hours and then return in time to take my connection fly?

Yes, you can exit the airport. Upon arrival you will go through US Immigration and customs and will be outside security and free to go where you want.

Do flts from Düsseldorf Germany to JFK have to go thru custom?

Yes, upon arrival in New York you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, and go through US Customs. If you have a connecting flight you will then have to re-check your bags and go through security.

  • Non US citizen - flight change over

Hi, we will arrive on an internal flight from Boston at 2:30pm, our flight home to London is at 7:30pm. Does this allow enough time for us to go through passport control into JFK and then check in for our flight home to London before going through security again? Thanks

There is no passport control when arriving on a domestic flight or when leaving the US. What airlines are you flying? Are both tickets on the same reservation or two separate ones? 5 hours is enough time to do pretty much any connection you could think of.

  • Terminal Change. Checked Bags.

I have a 21:55 flight departing JFK on Norwegian Terminal 1 with checked baggage. I will be arriving at 19:00 (scheduled) on Jet Blue Terminal 5 with checked baggage. The flights have been booked separately. Am I correct to assume I will have to go through baggage claim on arrival to JFK and then go to the Norwegian desks and check in the baggage again? Are there any other options or anything else I need to consider?

Yes, you have the procedure correct. You should have enough time if the JetBlue flight is close to on-time.

ZAP, Thanks for taking the time to answer and alleviating my stress!!! :)

Hi, just want to check. i am landing JFK, QR947 Qatar at 915AM, Terminal 7. i have another flight to buffalo at 1154AM, terminal 4 via Delta.. Would there be enough time for me to catch the flight after passing through securities checks etc.

That should be barely enough time if everything goes smoothly.

We are traveling internationally from JFK on AA Terminal 8. How many hours in advance of flight time should we plan to arrive at airport. Really asking about TSA security delays?

3hr to 2hr 30min and 2hr at the latest you should be there.

  • 75 minutes?

Hi! I'm flying from TXL to JFK this saturday with AA, landing in NY at 4.45pm and have a connecting flight to MIA at 5.00 pm, also with AA. Both are in terminal 8. Is there any way that I can come through any faster? Like if I talk to the staff on my first plane? I'm underage and flying by myself for the first time. Thank you for your help.

That's not possible. You need at least 2 hours for this connection - 15 minutes is completely impossible.

Singapore Airline flight from Frankfurt to JFK gets in at 11:10AM (Terminal 4). Is purchasing a Delta flight that leaves for Detroit at 12:30PM possible? (all carry-ons, no checked bags)

    No, that's not reasonably possible.

  • Time to get bag between connections?

I am flying to JFK - to arrive at 4:30 and then need to get my checked bag and go from terminal 1 > 8 in time for a 7:15 flight. that seems a bit short. what do you think?

It's possible but doesn't leave a lot of time to spare.

    Thanks ZAP - i'll just go with a carry-on instead :-)
