Hi my im trying to book a flight from Nigeria to canada for school, it says i would have an airport change from Laguardia to JFK, would i need a visa to go from airport to airport ? and has anyone had a similar experience?
If you are a Nigerian citizen you need a US Transit Visa even if you are making a connection in the US at a single airport.
I will be arriving at JFk from ATL via Delta and 2:35 pm and departing fro BCN at 8:11 pm. I would like to meet a relative who lives in NCY for lunch. Is that possible?
Yes, that would be possible if they come to you. It would be pretty difficult to go into manhattan and back to the airport in that time frame.
Thank you. I assume we would have to go outside of the airport to meet them and then go through security again. Is that correct?
Yes, you will
Hi There,
Please help me to get a better understanding on Transit Visa. I am an Indian and having Canada Immigration Visa. I am going to Canada first time. I took a Ticket in British Airways via UK and USA to reach there. The British Airways Ticket has a connecting flight at JFK with a layover or around 4 Hours. My question is do I really need a transit Visa for a Four Hours Layover on the same airport? Please help me with detailed description. Your immediate response would be highly appreciated.

Yes, you really need a transit Visa. Unfortunately your Canadian Immigration Visa doesn't get you anything in the USA.
I will be arriving in JFK from Brasil and have a 12 hour layover for my flight to Serbia. Can I leave the airport? Do I need a visa?
Thank you in advance.
Yes, you need a US Transit Visa. Once you clear US Immigration you can leave the airport as long as you report for your scheduled flight to Serbia.
Hi, I have a booked flight from JFK to London departing at 8 pm on the 12th of Sept., i will be in San Francisco on the 11th and have a flight in mind that arrives in JFK at 3.30 pm on the 12th does this allow enough time to collect bags, check in and go through security etc, what is the chance of a domestic flight being delayed ?
That should be enough time. SFO is moderately delay-prone and JFK is very delay-prone.
Have booked, looks like both flights will be in Terminal 4, as they are both with Virgin, though not on the same ticket, making it easier.
just hope no delay to the flight from SFO
Need to know how much time I need to claim bags, clear customs, get to Delta domestic terminal for flight to Atlanta and then on to Montgomery Alabama
If the flights are on two separate reservations you need at least 3 hours, preferably a little more.
Hi, I have a flight through JFK end of August from Manchester and connect through JFK at round 1pm. both flights are AA through terminal 8 however my connection time i have been given is 2 hours and 15 mins. is this enough to clear immigration, customs, recheck bags and go through security again for the domestic flight?
Manchester england that is
Yes, that should be enough time if everything goes smoothly.
Hi, I will be travelling from Birmingham (GBR) to Nashville with a stop off in JFK. Firstly my flight to JFK is American airlines and from JFK to Nashville its American airlines operated by Envoy air As American Egale. I bought the ticket on skyscanner so im pretty certian both are on the same ticket. The layover time is 3 hours and 20 mins i'm thinking will this be enough time to go through security there or do i go through security at Nashville. Secondly am i right in presuming that both flights will be out of terminal 8? Finally would my luggage be checked through or would i need to collect it? Thanks in advance
Yes, that is enough time. In JFK you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through Security and to your departure gate, all in Terminal 8. You have enough time.
Sorry that was ment to say 2 hours 20 mins would this still be enough time? TIA.
That should be just about enough time then.
Hi, If I'm flying Aer Lingus to JFK and connecting with American Airlines to San Juan will my bags be checked all the way through? The booking will be on the same ticket booked with British Airways
Yes, your bags will be checked through. All you should have to do in JFK is take the AirTrain from T5 to T8 and go through security. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Ireland.
End of September, my husband and I fly from RDU on Delta 4074 to JFK, arriving at 8:13 pm. Then we fly to Shannon, Ireland on Delta 406 at 11 pm. We do not plan to check any bags. This is a little less than the recommended 3 hour gap for an international flight. Can you advise what terminals these flights might be, and more importantly, if we have to redo security in this process? (ie, we'll have done it once at RDU already). I am worried about the time allotment. Thanks!
You don't need 3 hours. Both flights are in Terminal 4 and all you have to do in JFK is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have plenty of time.
Thanks for taking the time to reply – I was worried we'd have to go through security again and would be late. Now I realize perhaps I should be more concerned about the return flight. We return on a Sunday in October, Dublin to JFK arriving 1:55 pm on Delta 45. Then our connection back home to RDU is Delta 4006 at 3:45 pm. I have a bad feeling this will not be long enough to allow for customs? Can you comment on that? Not sure if we would check a bag on the return journey or not. Thanks again for sharing your expertise with so many people!
You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Dublin. Again, all you have to do in JFK is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, both in Terminal 4.
