Hello, Do we have to queue the same way for passeport control (I am french) then leaving the us than when arriving from abroad (when arriving we had to wait about 45 mn). How long do we plan to wait ?

Only international arrivals need to go through passport control. JFK has 6 terminals, each with specific airlines - if you need to change terminals, I suggest you open www.ifly.com/jfk, then click on 'Terminal Map' under 'QUICK LINKS', and scroll down to the detailed text.

Yes, there is no passport control when leaving the US.

  • Where to meet a friend who has a 5-hour layover btwn T4 & T8

A friend is landing on Monday afternoon from Toronto at T4 and has a 5-hour layover before catching her flight to Israel from T8 at 8.30. She is flying on a U.K. passport. Is it possible for me to meet her somewhere in the airport so that we can spend some time together during her layover? Does she have to go through customs?

Yes, she will have to go through US immigration.

We arrival from MIA to JFK terminal 8 domestic, departure from terminal 8 international to HEL. What is minimum connection time ?

Due to the frequency of delays at JFK I would budget at least an hour, but it shouldn't actually take you more than 15 minutes.

Hi! I will arrive at 1357hrs on 3 August 2013 via Delta Domestic Flight from Baltimore to JFK airport terminal 2. I need to wait for my transit at JFK airport terminal 4 to Singapore via Singapore Airline SQ, depart at 2050hrs on 3 August 2013. Hence, there is 7 hours of wait. I would like to enquire regarding the baggage check in. Can I re-check in my luggage when I arrive JFK airport right after the security check and custom clearance? or do I need to wait till 2 hours before I depart from JFK airport to Singapore? Do you mind telling me the flow of transiting, will be greatly appreciated? Thank you.

It sounds like your bags won't be checked through to your Singapore flight. If so, you will take them from the baggage claim and then on the AirTrain/Air Terminals Train to Terminal 4. I imagine the Singapore counter opens more than 2 hours before departure, probably 3 hours I would guess. You will not go through any customs in JFK. After you check your bags with Singapore you just go through security and to your gate in T4.

  • Can I accompany my mom until security check?

My mom has been booked with wheelchair assistance. She is afraid and it is her first flight. Can I join her until the security check or until she is on the wheel chair with assistance

You can go with her to the security line. Since she has wheelchair assistance, the check-in counter may also be able to give you a gate pass that would allow you to go to the gate. It never hurts to ask.

    Thanks for the information ZAP

Did that work? Could you please post details.

Sorry I missed to update the thread. No it did not work. We were not allowed to join my Mom and we were denied the gate pass too. My mother was assisted by the security itself. And it was a bad experience. She was feeling dehydrated and we requested for a fresh juice. we tipped and paid the person assisting. He took my mom inside and left her somewhere and went away. Luckily she had a phone to call me back and inform me about this. Later I had to work with the officer near the check in and blasted them. It was found later that the person had told another person to take my mom to the security gate and he had gone to assist someone. Niether my mom was given a juice nor could we trace him as we didnt know who he was.!! later our flight checkin officer apologised for what hpnd and they arranged for her juice for which I had to pay again!!

Hello everybody. I'm french and i'm flying Concorde on flight simulator. Does somebody could which terminals were used by BA & AF Concorde and which gates. I just ask this for doing more réalistic flight and arrivals. Your help will be really appreciate. Have a good day

I don't know how this forum works but I give you my email adress for your eventuals responses). Thanks frerechris@hotmail.fr

BA used Terminal 7, which is still there. Air France's Concorde used the current Terminal 1 from 1998 to 2003, I don't know what terminal they used before that.

We will be returning to the USA from TXL (Air Berlin) to AUS (AA) with a stop over in JFK. The layover time is 90 minutes. Will we have enough time to make the connection? We are elderly, my husband is 84 yrs old and disabled, cannot walk very fast. If I get wheelchair service for him will they also help with his bags. Thank you!

As international arrivals at the U.S. you you need to go through passport check, retrieve checked bags, go through customs clearance and - if transferring to another flight - re-check-in bag. In your favor: Air Berlin and American are both using Terminal 8. Also, they belong to the same 'Oneworld' Alliance - meaning your bags will be automatically transferred after you go through customs & re-check-in bags. Proceed to the Departures level, go through security check, and on to your Concourse (either Concourse B with gates 1-16 or Concourse C with gates 31-17. Overhead screens will indicate flight and gate numbers. You have plenty of time. Yes, contacting your airline to have a wheelchair ready at arrival is a good idea!
