John Wayne SNA Airport Overview

Orange County John Wayne Airport SNA - also referred to as 'JWA' has recently been named a 'Local Historic Civil Engineering Landmark' by the Orange County branch of the American Society of Civil Engineers. The Airport, which is serving California's densly-populated Orange County, added to its name that county's resident and legendary actor John Wayne. 

The Airport is located in Santa Ana, 35 miles south of Los Angeles, and between the cities of Costa Mesa, Irvine, and Newport Beach. It is situated right off the San Diego Freeway / Interstate Hwy. 405 (Exit 8 MacArthur Blvd.) and is accessible via the Costa Mesa Fwy. 55, connecting to the North-east to I-5 / Santa Ana Fwy. and South-west to I-405; or the Corona Del Mar Fwy /San Joaquin Hills Transportation Corridor Toll Road SR-73.

With two runways and approximately 8.9 million passengers in 2012, John Wayne Airport it is served by major commercial and commuter airlines offering hundreds of daily arrivals and departures with nonstop flights to many U.S. destinations and connections around the world. AirTran now offers flights to Mexico City & Cabo St. Lucas, and WestJet offers flights to Calgary, Canada.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: 
1. Use caution when traveling the Airport roadways and plan to arrive 90 mins to 2 hours prior to your scheduled flight departure to find parking, to go through security screening and to get to your gate on time. Reduce your wait time by getting your boarding pass on-line (at your airline site) or by using the airline check-in kiosks. If you are traveling with American Airlines (& soon others - find out), try the new paperless boarding pass. Also, choose the screening lane that is right for you: the Expert, Casual, or Family/ Medical Liquids Lane.
2. The TSA Pre-Check 'Pop-Up' Information Center has been expanded . Global Entry members should enter PASS ID number into the 'Known Traveler' field when booking a domestic flight reservation.

The passenger terminal complex at Orange County Airport consists of a main terminal - the 'T.F. Riley Terminal'-  housing 'Terminals' TA, TB &  TC. (For detailed terminal information, click on 'Terminal Map'.)

Parking options at Orange County Airport at present include Parking Garages A1, A2, B2 & C, with curbside valet parking, and off-airport parking on Main Street.

Rental cars
for onsite agencies have counters on the Arrivals level, between TA & TB and across from John Wayne statue. Rental cars off-site offer shuttles service. 

To get from John Wayne Airport to your destination, you can rent a car, take a taxi/limo, a shuttle, a shuttle to the train, or a bus. Across from the roadway of the arrivals pickup area is an island for public transportation, which includes taxis, buses and the Disneyland  Resort Express (800-828-6699).
The Ground Transportation Center (GTC) is across from the Lower level Roadway - between Parking B2 & A2. Look for assistance by coordinators. It offers shuttles to/from hotels, door-to-door, to remote Lot C and Main Street, and the Disneyland Resort Express.

2. OCTA buses (714--636-7433) Routes 76 and 212, stop is located on the arrival (lower) level outside of Terminal B.  For OCTA ACCESS Services for the disabled, call 877-OCTA-ADA).
3. The nearest train stations are located in Irvine, Santa Ana and Tustin, approximately 10 miles from John Wayne Airport, and the 'i-Shuttle' (949-724-6287, Route A,  connects the Tustin Metrolink Station to John Wayne Airport via Von Karman Avenue.
