Kumamoto KMJ Airport Overview
Kumamoto Airport KMJ is located within city limits of Kumamoto, or 16 km northeast of Kumamoto Station.
The Airport is accessible via Expressway 443, which in turn connects to the Kyushu Expressway 57.
With a long runway, Kumamoto Airport is served by domestic airlines serving airports in Japan, and by Asian airlines serving Seoul-Incheon Airport.

The three-level passenger terminal at Kumamoto Airport is divided into a Domestic and an International terminal: Food & drink, as well as retail concessions are available in both terminals.
The Domestic Terminal:
The first level housesa coin locker, post office cash machine, bank cash machine, Information desk, group check-in counters, first aid station and baggage claim area. Outside is a ticket machine (across the information desk), as well as four bus stops and a taxi stand.
The second level of the Domestic terminal houses a department store & 9 other stores; an Information desk, VIP lounge, group lounges A&B, two service desks, coin lockers, nursery, relaxation salon, meeting rooms (tel. 096-232-2810), and an observation deck. The Business Lounge (tel. 096-232-2810 /fax 4772) is free to certain creditcard holders. The pay lounges can be contacted at 096-232-2810.
The third level of the Domestic terminal houses offices, observation decks and 5 restaurants.
The International terminal:
The first level houses an Information desk in the Arrivals Lobby with ticket counters, and a baggage claim area with Immigration and government offices. Rental car desks are located in the Arrivals area.
The second level offers a coffee shop and 2 duty-free shops, the Departure Lobby with security check & Departure Control station, the Departure lounge with gates 4 to 7, and Immigration and government office.

Parking options at Kumamoto Airport: The carpark across from the passenger terminal is open 6am-10:30pm and has about 1,200 parking spaces, 14 of which are reserved for disabled persons (8 covered and 6 uncovered spaces) - discounts apply upon presentation of the proper form. To get from Kumamoto Airport to your destination, you can rent a car, take a taxi, a limo, or a bus (travel time is estimated):
A trip to the Technopolis Center (Bus stop 4) takes only 10 mins.
A trip to Kumamoto City or its bus terminal takes by bus, limo or taxi 40-45 mins.
A trip to Kumamoto Station (Bus stop 2) takes by Limousine Bus 50 mins, and to Takamori Chuo (Bus stop 1) takes 50 mins.
A bus trip to Aso takes 1 hr, to Kurakawa Hot Springs 1.5 hrs., to Amakusa (Hondo) 3 hrs.
A Highway Bus trip to Yatsushiro takes 1 hr & connects to Shinkansen Train at Shin-Yatsushiro Station.
A trip via Express Bus to to Takachiho/ Nobeoka takes 3 hrs, to Oita 3 hrs and to Beppu 4 hrs.
Bus Tickets for the Airport Limousine to Kumamoto City and Amakusa (Bus Stop 2) can be purchased at the ticket machine located next to the ex in front of the Arrivals lobby, which is across from Bus Stop 2.
