Lost and Found at LGA Airport
Traveling can be stressful, and in the hustle and bustle of transit, it's not uncommon for items to get misplaced. Whether you've lost something at a security checkpoint, on the plane, or elsewhere in the La Guardia Airport, don't panic. This guide will walk you through the steps to take to increase your chances of retrieving your lost item(s).
Items Lost at Security Checkpoint
If you believe you may have left an item at a security checkpoint, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is here to help. Visit the TSA Lost & Found Website to report your lost item. The TSA will then conduct a search and contact you if your item is found.
Items Lost on Aircraft/Lost Luggage
For items lost on the aircraft or missing luggage at baggage claim, you must contact your airline directly. For a list of contact information for the airlines that serve La Guardia Airport, visit the Airlines Served page. Some of the most popular airlines at LGA include:
Items Lost in Other Areas
If your item was lost elsewhere in the airport, the NY Port Authority airports use a centralized reporting system to help recover lost items. This includes La Guardia, JFK, EWR, and SWF airports. To report a lost item, visit the Lost and Found Claim Site and provide detailed information about your lost item and where you believe it was misplaced.
After submitting your lost item report, you will receive a ticket number by email. You can use this ticket number to check the status of your lost item and/or edit the information you provided. If your item is found, you will receive an email notification with instructions on how to pay for shipping so that the item can be returned to you. The cost of shipping will depend on the weight and size of the item, and you will have the option to purchase shipping insurance for an extra cost.
Please note that any item lost on board an aircraft, in the airline terminal or curbside with an airline tag is turned in to the appropriate airline. Contact your airline’s baggage service office for further information.
