I will be arriving on Emirates ETA is 2 PM (Term E) on Wednesday Jan 13 and have a connection on a completely different reservation on Southwest, scheduled for 4:40 PM. Will that 2hr and 40 minutes be enough for immigration, customs, baggage re-check and get thru security and reach the gate for the connection?

It's probably just about enough time if your Emirates flight is on-time. Note that you'll have to take your bags with you to Terminal A to re-check them with Southwest. You can't use the re-check desk in Terminal E.

Thank you! I also have Global Entry and TSA-Precheck, so I hope that would cut down on time in lines.

  • Intl to Domestic Connection Time

I will be arriving on Emirates ETA is 2 PM (Term E) on a Tuesday and have a connection on a completely different reservation on American, scheduled for 3:50 PM (Term B). Will that 1hr and 50 minutes be enough for immigration, customs, transfer to AA's terminal B, baggage re-check and get thru security and reach the gate for the connection?

It will be very difficult unless your Emirates flight arrives early because you will have to transfer your bags yourself to American and get to their check-in counter before the bag check cutoff.

  • 1:30 between flights

my international flight is planned to arrive at 5:30am to terminal E. my connection to SFO is jetblue at terminal C at 07:00 am is this possible with checked buggage ? (reservation is together)

That should be just enough time assuming your first flight is on-time.

  • Time from terminal A to E
    Nov 24, 2015
Hello, I have booked a flight from Atlanta to Rome through Boston. I will arrive on terminal A and I need to go to terminal E. I have just 1 hour for connection. Do you think I will make it?

If you purchased two separate reservations that is not enough time. If both tickets are on the same reservation you will have to hope your first flight is on-time and run to Terminal E.

Thanks a lot for the answer. Its the same reservation. Lets hope it will be on time.

  • Process of Transit when flying out of US
    Nov 15, 2015
Hi, I will be flying from Detroit to Boston Via Jetblue to catch a Flight to Dubai with Emirates. - Will I have to go through any Immigration at Detroit - Do I need to collect my baggage in Boston and get the Boarding Pass again from Emirates and go through Immigration at Boston. - How much Time I will need to complete all this process. I will be arriving at 9:00 pm and my next flight is at 10:20 pm. - What Terminal I will come and what terminal I will flyout and how to change terminals

There is no US Customs or Immigration when leaving the US. If both tickets were purchased on the same reservation your bags will be checked through to Dubai and all you have to do in Boston is go from Terminal C where you arrive to Terminal E where you depart and go through security. If you purchased two separate reservations you will have to transfer your bags yourself and this will be very difficult if not impossible. You can walk from Terminal C to E in Boston.

Sorry, Emirates operates from Terminal C. So assuming both tickets are on the same reservation all you have to do in Boston is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

Thanks ZAP, Its seems I have one booking only Although I have 2 Booking reference numbers - Jetblue and Emirates are saperate but when I check online on Emirates I see the complete section. I also Found out that JetBlue and Emirates have codesharing in US. I guess you were correct. I will have to do the Baggage check in only Once. May be Passport control/ check will happen in Detroit itself.

I just did the check in at detroit, the baggage is. He ed in for India but I need to get the boarding pass of emirates in Boston. Any clue where is emirates transfer desk at boston.

  • Moving from Terminal E to Terminal B
    Nov 5, 2015
I am arriving from Frankfurt to terminal E to catch my onward flight to Ottawa from Terminal B. Have I to go through immigration? collect my baggages and recheck them at Air canada express counter? and undergo immigration again before proceeding to departure gate? thanking you in advance

If both tickets are on the same reservation your bags will be tagged to Ottawa. In Boston you will arrive in Terminal E, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk immediately after, then walk or take the shuttle to Terminal B and go through security. You will go through Canadian immigration and customs when you get to Ottawa.

  • 1hr55min for a connection
    Oct 30, 2015
I am considering purchasing tickets for two people on Dec 30. Will be arriving at 4:08pm on Jetblue (from DFW). Taking off at 5:55pm with Wow for Iceland. We would check in online but would that be enough time to switch terminals, check a bag and go through security? If we didn't check bags or became TSA pre check, would that help? Thanks

It should be enough time without checked bags. It would be difficult with checked bags.

I am flying with wow soon and my research say you can not check in online!! You must go to the desk and they say the desk closes 45 min before flight. When I say close .. I mean they walk away. The reviews have been brutal about this and luggage policy

  • Terminal E to Terminal B/C/A
    Oct 25, 2015
I will be arriving in Boston on a Lufthansa flight at 1:20 PM. I will then go through immigration/customs etc. (as I'm not a US national), pick up my bags and go to either terminal B, C or A (dont know yet) for American Airlines flight to Charlotte at 5:05PM. So, I have 3 hours and 45 minutes. Is this time enough to carry my luggage and make a terminal transfer safely? Please advise.

You should have plenty of time. Your American flight will depart from Terminal B.

  • 2hr 10 min for connection
    Oct 20, 2015
Hi, I am arriving to Boston airport from an international flight to Terminal E at 6:20PM and have an American Airlines flight to Pittsburgh at 08:30PM. I think I need to go to Terminal B for AA flight. In this case is this amount of time enough to pass airport security and transfer to Terminal B? Thanks.

That should be just about enough time.

Just curious - did you make it? I am in the same situation today and scared I'm going to miss my flight!

Sorry for not giving the time details but mine will be in December. But needed to know prior to buy my Pittsburgh ticket. I also suggest using flight tracker websites to see when the same flight actually arrived before. Airline tickets give predicted arrival times including max. delay possibility. My flight seems to arrive at 5:10PM usually although it says 6:20PM on my ticket.

  • 45 min connection united cape air
    Jan 9, 2015
I have 45 minute connection from united to cape air is that enough time?

If you purchased your tickets together and/or don't have checked bags it's BARELY enough time. With checked bags if your bags aren't checked through to your final destination, no chance.

  • Connection and baggage question
    Jan 7, 2015
I am arriving in Boston at 6:20 pm on a Delta flight and leaving for London on Virgin Atlantic 12 at 10:10 pm. I would like to check one of my carry-on bags on the Virgin Atlantic flight. Will I need to go through security again? Thanks.

You need to check bags for your entire path of travel if you want to check them, unless you purchased two separate tickets. If you did purchase two separate tickets and want to check one of your bags in JFK, you will have to exit security to do so.

Sorry, just realized you are connecting in Boston, not JFK. The same answer about the baggage applies, if you purchased one ticket you must check the bag at the origin, however, you will have to go through security in Boston regardless as you will arrive in Terminal A and depart from Terminal E. They are not connected.

  • Several questions about Terminal E
    Dec 25, 2014
We have connecting Southwest and Iceland Air flights in BOS on a Friday evening in March. And luckily, it looks like both arrive and leave the same terminal - E. We did not purchase our tickets together. So I imagine we have to pick up our luggage from baggage claim and recheck it? We have a 3 hour layover between flights. Should this be enough time to get our luggage, Iceland Air boarding passes and recheck our bags, make it through security and maybe grab a quick bite to eat?

Yes you have the procedure correct and yes you have enough time.

  • Iceland Air to United connection one hour 40 mins
    Oct 20, 2015
I have a group of 10 on Iceland Air FI 631 arriving at 5:40 pm at terminal E and the group is booked to leave out of terminal B on United at 7:20 pm. Will the group be okay of the bags are not checked all the way?

It will be very very difficult to make your connection on-time. Especially considering that because you are in a group, you cannot check-in online for your United flight.

So did you make your flight? I'm curious because I am in the same situation today. and nervous!

No, there is not, no terminals at BOS are connected inside security.
