  • Changing from terminal E to B1
    May 28, 2015

Hello everyone and thanks in advance for your responses! I'm travelling through SATA so I expect I'll be landing on terminal E and then I'll be travelling with Alaska Air/Pen Air which implies I'll be flying out of terminal B1. Now, I only have 45 minutes in between flights, otherwise I'll be stranded for the night. Has anyone been able to change from terminal E to B1 in under 45 minutes?

No, since you will have to clear US Immigration, claim your bags, and clear customs after arrival, there is no way you can get your bags to Penair in-time. Plan on spending the night in Boston.

  • Connection from United to Air Canada is 36 Minutes

I am on a United flight from Chicago ORD, connection to Halifax YHZ . I arrive at 9:24 and connection departs at 10:00 am. Flight is AC 8894 X. Is this possible?

Note that both flights are United. Yes, that should be enough time if your first flight is on-time.

Sorry, disregard that past post, where are you connecting?

I bailed out. Called United and complained that it was unlikely I would make it. ....so free of charge they rebooked me San Diego, LAX to Newark EWR on to Halifax.. Score one for United.

  • Terminal change

I am travelling from cincinnati to Boston, after landing in boston i have a paris flight to catch and i have 1:37 min lay over. Is this time sufficient to change the flights?

What airlines are you flying? Did you purchase your tickets together or separately? Will you have checked bags?

I am flying in Air france. Tickets were purchased together. Yes i will have 1 checked baggage.

So your first flight will be operated by Delta. You will arrive in Terminal A and depart from Terminal E, which are at opposite sides of the airport. However, there is a walkway that connects Terminals A in E in about 5 minutes or you can take a shuttle bus, which would take a bit longer. You will have to go through security once you reach Terminal E. You should have enough time if your first flight is on-time. https://www.massport.com/logan-airport/inside-the-airport/terminals/

Also note that your flight to Paris may also be operated by Delta. If it is you will just have to walk to your departure gate, also in A.

Should i need to re check in the baggage at boston in terminal 2E? And if i take the walkway to reach terminal 2E instead of bus would i will be able to reach faster. So would this be suffcinet to catch the paris flight?

It's terminal E, not "2E". Your baggage should be checked through to Paris in Cincinnati, you won't have to claim it and re-check it in Boston. Assuming you are able to walk somewhat quickly, the walkway would almost certainly be faster than the bus. Yes, you should have enough time.

Thanks a lot . Thats ease my worry.

Hi, just a question... I've purchased a flight for July 1 that is scheduled to land in BOS at 5:30PM, operated by TAP Portugal. I am flying from Barcelona, Spain and have a stop over in Lisbon, Portugal then would be landing in Boston. I am wondering if I would be okay to purchase a separate flight (BOS is not my end destination) that is scheduled to leave at 7:00PM, operated by US Airways. I am worried 90 minutes isn't enough time as I assume I'll have to recheck bags and go through security again/change terminals. Please let me know your thoughts as I am not too familiar with this airport, etc. Thank you!

You are correct, 90 minutes wouldn't be enough time. You will also have to change terminals.

I have a flight from Ireland into Terminal E with a connection on JetBlue to Seattle in Terminal C. Aer Lingus says they will check my bags all the way through to Seattle. In Boston will I need to go through customs or any security gates?

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Ireland. In Boston you will have to go through security in Terminal C.

So I'm hoping to buy some Irish liqueur in the Irish airport to bring back to Seattle so it will be carry on. Since I have to go through security again in Boston will this not be possible?

    Correct, that won't be possible.

If you want to buy some liquor in Ireland, buy it at a regular store and put it in your checked baggage.

  • Enough Connection Time?

Flying JetBlue to BOS arriving at 9:56pm in Terminal C. I need to collect my checked bags, and re-check in with Turkish Airlines in Terminal E. Turkish Airlines flight is leaving at 11:45pm. I spoke with JetBlue and they said that it should be enough time to connect flights even though it will be under two separate reservations; I am still a little hesitant. Is this enough time for the connection? Or, should I take an earlier JetBlue flight arriving into BOS at 6:44pm (which would give me an awfully long layover)?

Is probably OK assuming it's on-time. It leaves you around 45 minutes to get off the plane, get your bags, and get them to Terminal E. It leaves no room for any delays of the first flight though.

I will be arriving from Reykjavik on the new Wow Airlines flight landing at 5:30pm in Terminal E. My connecting flight (separate itinerary) is on Virgin America departing for SFO at 6:59pm. I know it's a tight connection, but is it doable? I have purchased seats on Wow Air, so I should be one of the first to deplane. Thanks for your help!

It's only reasonably possible if you don't check any bags and check-in online for your Virgin America flight before leaving Iceland.

I'm arriving to Boston, Terminal C on JetBlue at 8:13PM and need to catch the Icelandair, Terminal E, at 9:00PM. Is there enough time for me to pass through security and transport between the two terminals? Thanks!

Did you purchase your tickets separately or together? Will you have checked baggage? If purchased together, it's barely enough time if you run. I personally would not have booked this.

Thanks ZAP! Unfortunately, we've booked through a tour company and it's too late to change. Would you recommend taking carryon, instead of checking luggage, to speed up the process?

I'm coming into terminal C on a JetBlue, and going out of terminal E on the Icelandair.

If you did purchase the tickets together through a tour company then your bags should be checked through to Iceland, however, you will still need to absolutely sprint from Terminal C to Terminal E to get through security in time and it leaves absolutely no room for error if your JetBlue flight is even a bit late.

I am flying Southwest from California, arriving Logan at 4:00. My next flight is on Delta to Shannon, leaving at 5:30. I have only carry on. Is that enough time? Do I need to go through security again? I believe Souhtwest is in Term.E and Delta in Term. A. I thought I read as of April 2015 Southwest will be moving to Terminal A,is that true?

Delta doesn't fly from Boston to Shannon. The only airline that flies nonstop from Boston to Shannon is Aer Lingus. Please double check your itinerary. Yes, Southwest is moving to Terminal A on April 1.

Thanks for writing that question. News of SWA moving to terminal A is just getting out. Helps me to plan better, especially since TSA is busier in Terminal A than former Terminal E

  • Separate Flights on JetBlue in Boston - Security Check Still Required

I have a return JetBlue flight from Newark ending in BOS at 6:50pm and a new flight originating in BOS to Fort Meyers for a completely new trip at 7:55pm on the same day. Do I need to go back through security? Or could I be covered since I would have been checked coming back to Boston originally? (Could the Newark team check me for the BOS to RSW flight even though it's a different ticket?) Just trying to avoid security again if possible. Thanks.

You should be able to show both confirmations to the agent in Newark and have your bag checked through to RSW. If they don't you will have a hard time making that connection with a checked bag.

Thanks, ZAP. I'm not checking a bag so hopefully that should help.

I arrive in Logan at 8;46pm with Jet Blue terminal C and have to get a conecction with Icelandair at 9:30pm to London, in terminal 2, so I have just 40 min!!!! for connection, I will have just a back pack..can I make it? are this two terminals far from each other? did I have to go to security again?..need to know what to do, changing times in Orbtiz will be expensive :(, thank you.

Icelandair uses Terminal E, there is no terminal 2. Yes, the two terminals are sort of next to each other but you will have to go through security. This is a very difficult connection. Try to change to an earlier flight to Boston on the day of your flight (the change fee is less then).

I am flying into Boston from Iceland at 6:35 PM. If I book a flight to Nashville from Boston at 7:23, will I have enough time to make the connection? Is 7:23 the lates flight I can get? Would I be better off getting a hotel in Boston & flying out early the next morning?

No, that's not enough time. You will have to spend the night in Boston.

Will I have to go through security again to travel between these gates? Looking at their map on massport, it seems like I do.

Correct you will, but the lines for those gates are typically quite short as that checkpoint only serves those three small Cape Air gates.
