  • Change terminal times in Boston
    Jun 29, 2016
I am arriving from Iceland (Icelandair) and need to transfer to a United flight to Houston. I currently have a 5hr layover. It want to change to an earlier flight. If so I will get in at 12 and leave at 1:15. I have global entry and premier access on United, TSAPre and Clear if its there. Do you think I could make the transfer with checked bags if I take the earlier flight? Both bags are going to checked through so I can drop them off after customs

5hr hours is plenty of time. 1hr 15min is tight if everything runs smoothly & Flights are on time. Is there anything with a 2hr 15min or 2hr 30min connection? That Would Be Better. I don't know about the bags, but I know about layover times.

  • In Transit - Boston - JFK
    Jun 28, 2016
My family & I will be flying in from South Africa, via Dubai - connecting in Boston for JFK, on the 15th of July. Arriving Boston - Emirates 8.55 am Departing Boston - Jetblue Airline 11.14 am 2 hour 20 minute lay over I am concerned that we have just 2 hours to retrieve baggage, clear immigration and reach the departing gate for JFK at Terminal C. We are anticipating a delay at customs as we will be entering the US as first time Diversity immigrants (which Im sure will add to processing time). We were under the impression that luggage will be retrieved at last point of entry or destination, understanding now that clearance is processed at first point of entry. Any delays has a ripple effect on airport transfers and bookings in JFK, and so on, so Im really stressed. 1) Does Logan have a designated area for processing of 'sealed envelopes' for new immigrants? Will 2 hrs be sufficient to get through required processes to reach Terminal C, check in baggage and board prior to departure schedule of 11.14 am 2) I've read of "a baggage re-check desk" at Terminal E from your blog. How does this work? Are we able to make use of the service at this intransit point? and Would this benefit us to save time. 3) the same applies to shuttle vs walking from Terminal E to Terminal C, as I can only imagine the vastness of the airport, which the virtual online map doesn't reflect the reality of distance. Please help, any advice will help.

Immigration in Boston is not crowded, especially in the morning. You will use the same line as others entering the US on a Visa. The re-check desk is right after you clear customs in Terminal E. It's hard to miss. If your bags are already tagged to JFK - which they should, you just drop your bags off there vs. having to take them to Terminal C. Boston may look large, and it does have a lot of buildings, but it's actually not that big.

  • To Orlando via Boston
    Jun 28, 2016
Hi there, I will be reaching Boston from Dubai at 9 AM and have to take a flight to Orlando departing 11:30 AM. Do I have enough time to do immigration, customs and change from terminal E to C? Kindlty adv

If everything is on the same reservation that should be enough time.

I checked with my airline and they adv that I will have to pick up my luggage and check in again for Orlando. Do I still have enough time to catch the flight to Orlando ? Thanks

    Yes, you do.

  • Transfer time?
    Jun 16, 2016
Hello. We booked a flight on Airberlin arriving Boston july 12th, 3:30pm, terminal E. Then going on with Jetblu Terminal C, leaving 5:55pm. We have to check in Baggage at Jetblu Service, baggage can't be checked through they say. We are German, so have to go through immigration as foreigners. Do you think time schedule fits? Thanks for help!

It's just enough time if everything goes smoothly.

  • 1hr 1min Layover to intl?
    Jun 13, 2016
Will a 1hr 1min Layover work to go from AA to Norwegian with rechecking bags & Changing terminals if I have to?

    it's @ FLL not BOS.

With checked bags, no way, that's totally not enough time. Even with checked bags I would say it's probably not enough time.

  • Is 1hr 46min Enough Time? CLT - BOS - KEF - CDG
    Jun 13, 2016
Is 1hr 46min Layover enough time in BOS to change to the international terminal? Where will I do Customs in the US or Iceland?

There is no US Customs when exiting the US. You have barely enough time if you have no checked bags. With checked bags I don't think this is possible. You will have to go through security again in Terminal E.

I Not Sure if I will Have Checked Bags yet. It is all On the Same Ticket I won't Have to do anything with my bags right?

If you have checked bags and the flights are on two separate reservations you will have to claim your bags in Boston, take them to Terminal E and re-check them.

    It's On The Same Reservation

OK, then you should have just enough time to change terminals and go through security. You won't have to do anything with your bags.

  • Boston to Iceland 2hr connection
    Jun 11, 2016
Flying in to Boston with Delta (from LAX) and need to catch a separate flight with WOW air to Iceland which is terminal E. Need to get bags and go through customs and TSA. Is 2hrs from landing to departure enough time?

You don't need to go through Customs, there is no US Customs when leaving the US. 2 Hours is barely enough time if everything goes perfectly.

Thank you. Would you pay 7,000 extra miles for 30minutes more inbetween the flights? Worth the risk in Genral? The next flight to Iceland leaves the next day....

    I don't think it's worth 30 minutes.

  • Flying overseas and customs
    Jun 11, 2016
Leaving out of Boston to Istanbul. How much time do I need between flights. Checking in 1-2 bags.

There's no US Customs when leaving the US. However, if you're booking a separate ticket into Boston, I'd want about 3 hours in between when that flight arrives and the Turkish flight is scheduled to leave.

Ok, so I am flying into Boston from another city. Im this case should have three hours in between flights? Also, what about customs coming back into Boston from Turkey before having to get on my flight back home?

Yes, 3 hour should be enough time on the way to Istanbul. On the return I'd want at least 3 hours.

  • international flight enough time to catch connecting flight
    Jun 7, 2016
My son has a international flight on Friday the 17th of june arrives BOS at 3:30pm on Eurowing which is Lufthansa. I can purchase flight on southwest departing at 5:50pm is that enough time to connect with bags.

I would personally want a later flight, but it's not downright impossible.

  • Will I have enough time?
    Jun 6, 2016
I will be arriving in Boston at 12:18pm on Delta on July4th - my connection is scheduled to leave at 2:00pm on United. The flights were booked on separate itineraries, will I have enough time? If not, is there anything I can do (aside from change flights) to make things more feasible?

I do have 1 checked bag as well

It's not impossible but it's certainly not easy. You'll have to hope your delta flight is on-time and your bag comes out quickly, run to the United check-in desk in Terminal B, check your bags, and go through security. If you can do your trip without a checked bag that would save a bit of time.

  • Tight connection?
    Jun 6, 2016
We are arriving at Logan on JetBlue at 7:21pm. We leave on Icelandair at 8:45 pm. According to the answer to another post, we will have to go through security again. Is there enough time?

Yes, that should be just enough time as long as your JetBlue flight is on-time and your bags are checked through to IcelandAir.

  • Terminal E to C, 13 hours connection time
    Jun 5, 2016
I am flying with turkish airlines and arrive to BOS terminal E at 6:15 pm. My next flight is next day, 7:45 am with jetblue from terminal C. I am travelling with my son and I have 4 bags. The tickets are booked together, but I will have to check out and take my luggage at terminal E. Can I re-check at terminal E? Isn't it too much connection time for a re-check? If not, can I walk with a luggage cart from one terminal to another?

Yes, you will be able to drop your bags at the re-check desk in Terminal E, then walk or take the shuttle to Terminal C and go through security. You should just have enough time if everything goes smoothly.

    Thanks a lot!

Sorry, I just missed how long your connection is - because it is overnight you likely won't be able to re-check your bags until the morning, probably about 4:30. I suggest getting a hotel.

OK, but do you know anything about carts? Can I move with a luggage cart from terminal E to terminal C?

  • Customs and security check
    Jun 4, 2016
I am arriving to Boston on JetBlue at 7pm. I have a connecting flight on Iceland air at 8:45pm. Do I have to collect my luggage and go through security again? If so, is this enough time.

If both tickets are on the same reservation you don't have to claim your bags but you will have to go through security again in Terminal E.

  • Connection from Rome to Mpls through Boston
    Jun 4, 2016
My Daughter and I will be flying in from Rome on August 4th. We get in at 6:40pm and will then fly to Minneapolis at 8:55pm. Is that enough time to go through customs and immigration. We plan on doing carryon luggage only.

Yes, that should be enough time.

  • International to domestic connection
    May 30, 2016
Arriving from London on Norweigan Air @ 7:05pm on 7/11. Having trouble finding a late flight to Atlanta. Would 8:25 pm departure be enough time to get through customs and from terminal E through security in terminal A (no checked bags)? Thanks!

No, that wouldn't be enough time. If there are no later flights and you have already booked that flight to Boston, plan on spending the night in Boston.
