  • Connection time through BOS

If I arrive from Lisbon (TAP) at 5.55pm and depart for Halifax, NS, Canada (Air Canada) at 7.15pm, will I have enough time to make the connection? Do I have to clear immigration, pick up bags, clear customs, deposit bags in BOS if I am just in transit through the airport to another country?

Yes, you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, change terminals and go through security. That is a very difficult connection. It's not impossible, but extremely difficult.

  • Arrive Terminal E, Depart Terminal C - Time needed?

Arrive from Manchester, UK on Thomas Cook flight arriving at 15:10, terminal E. Then planning on taking a separately booked Jet Blue flight to New York from Terminal C. I have the choice of either 17:20 or 19:35 - would 17:20 be cutting it fine?

With checked bags the 17:20 flight would be tough.

  • 80 min for connection Terminal E to domestic in Terminal C

I arrive on flight S4231 from Terceira at 17:55 and have to make a Jetblue connection in Terminal C that departs at 19:15. I will have one checked bag. Am I going to make it?

No, I don't think that's realistically enough time, especially if the flights are on two separate reservations.

My flight from Iceland arrives at terminal E at 5:40 and my flight from Boston leaves 6:59 no checked luggage. Is this doable

Is the connection between these two terminals open yet? My international flight was rescheduled later and I'm afraid I'll miss my connection if I have to go back through security again.

    Yes, it opened in June.

  • B to E in 3 hours???

We arrive in BOS @ 6pm on Virgin Airlines in Terminal B. We have 3 hours to connect to our El Al connection flight LY16 that departs at 9pm from Terminal E. What should we expect after landing at Logan - take shuttle to Terminal E and go through security again? Also how far is the walk from B to E with our rolling carry on bags please? Thanks!

It's not a long walk - you can do it in under 10 minutes. However, note that Virgin America arrives in Terminal C, not Terminal B, which is actually connected inside security to terminal E. Are your flights on one reservation or two separate reservations?

Thank you and Yes, these two flights are on 1 reservation.

  • 1 hour 40 enough time? Terminals A to E, hand luggage only

I've got a connection from Austin to France through Boston (Southwest, changing to Delta/Air France). I arrive in BOS at 6:20 p.m. (Terminal A) and leave at 20:00 (Terminal E). I'll just have hand luggage. Is that enough time?

Yes, that should be enough time if the Southwest flight is on-time. Delta flights to Boston leave from Terminal A while Air France flights leave from E, so double check the operating carrier for the flight.

    Thank you!

  • Terminal A to E and vice versa

Hi, so I am planning to fly from Toronto to Mumbai with a layover in Boston, would I have to collect bags and re-check and go through customs and security if I have a pre-check at YYZ? (Also, the air canada flight from yyz to boston is together with my Qatar Airways flight) Also, when I will be going from Mumbai to YYZ I only have a 3 hour layover, do I have to do the whole US security and customs process as well as collect bags and recheck and will 3 hours be enough for this?

Also forgot to ask if we have to recheck bags(2 checked-in and 1 carry on), since there is a requirement to switch terminals is it possible to check-in the bags at the terminal I arrive on?

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. Air Canada uses Terminal B, not A. All you have to do in Boston is walk or take the shuttle from Terminal B to Terminal E, get your Qatar boarding pass if Air Canada can't issue it, and go through security. On the return, yes, in Boston you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, walk or take the shuttle to Terminal B, and go through security. You should have enough time.

Yes, that should be enough time. You will have to walk to Terminal C and go through security.

  • Is 1hr50 enough time??

Our flight (BA213) arrives at Boston at 13:30 - Terminal E and our next flight (BA7741) leaves at 15:20 - Terminal B. Do we need to go through customs and collect our bags in Boston or will we do that when we arrive at our destination - Miami? Is 1 hour 50 enough time to get through customers and over to the next terminal? Is you have a connecting flight do they give you priority getting off? Really need some pointers! Thanks.

Yes, in Boston you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, walk or take the shuttle to Terminal B, go through security and to your departure gate. You have just enough time. You do not get any priority by having a connection. Note that your flight to Miami will be operated by American Airlines.

  • What do I need to know about connecting flights

We are flying from Ottawa (AirCanada) to Boston Logan Terminal B to connect with an Aer Lingus flight to Dublin Ireland at Terminal C. Do we need to pick up our checked bags and re check them in the departing terminal? Is there a trick to get from B to C? Thanks

Are your flights on one reservation or two separate reservations? B and C are not connected to each other.

Our Flight is on the same reservation made through Aer Lingus. Although they gave us two booking numbers one with air Canada in case we wanted to prebook our seats, and one with Aer Lingus. They reflect each other.. This is new to us as we normally fly with the same carrier direct from Canada. Thanks for the quick response.

OK, then all you have to do is walk to Terminal C and go through security. You won't have to do anything with your checked bags in Boston.

Thank you ZAP for your expert response. This will certainly be a comfort to my travelling party. I will assume that our 3 hour layover will give us plenty of time for our connection.

I am doing a similar trip. Toronto to Dublin through Boston both legs on Aer Lingus with 1H35MIN connection. I have Global Entry and TSA pre check. In your opinion, is this enough time to transfer? Unsure of the terminals but I would assume it would be similar to the above scenario.

Your first flight will not be operated by Aer Lingus. They don't fly from Toronto to Boston. Yes, that is enough time. You will pre-clear US Immigration and customs in Toronto.

  • Portugal to BOS to MSP

I am arriving at BOS Terminal E from Portugal at 4:55pm (SATA Azores Air). Potential connecting flight out is 6:20pm also Terminal E (Delta). Is this enough time to clear customs and make second flight? Not having to go to a different terminal should help right? I would book a later flight but there isn't one right now. Would have to stay another night and fly out in the morning...

Sorry, forgot to mention we will have 1-2 checked bags.

No, that's not enough time. No Delta flights depart from Terminal E. They all depart from Terminal A. Where are you trying to fly out of Boston to?

You are right, i was misreading the flight information. We are heading to Minneapolis (MSP). It looks like we probably have to stay the night and fly out the next day...

  • Question re time needed between flights

I'm arriving from Paris on a Sunday at 6:15 pm terminal E. Departure is at 7:55 pm from terminal A. Both flights are Delta. Is there enough time for Immigration, bag claim, customs, etc to reach the departure gate on time??

That's just enough time if everything goes smoothly.

I will have Global Entry and TSA Precheck may help too. Thanks!

    Yes, that will help.

  • Arriving in Terminal C (Aerlingus) & Departing Term C to SEA (Jetblue)

Hi i am new to the worderful world of connections. I am travelling with Aerlingus from SNN arriving in Terminal C and connecting in Terminal C to Seattle with Jetblue with a 4h layover. I will have pre-cleared US Customs and Immigration in Shannon. My question is will I have to go through US immigration and through security again prior to my connecting flight to Seattle Tacoma? Or will I be able to remain in the terminal in the departure area? (Im guessing that I will arrive in like a domestic flight in departures given im precleared).

If both tickets are on the same reservation and your bags are checked through to Seattle, all you have to do in Boston is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, like a domestic flight.

Flying from NYC to ATL with layover in Boston, arriving at Terminal C and Departing at Terminal C. Once after I arrive in Boston, will I have to go thru security again. Layover is 45 minutes

No, you will not have to go through security again. You have enough time if your flight from New York is on-time.

  • Emirates to Jetblue on a separate ticket

DBX/BOS: What's the procedure for clearing immigration & customs, then continuing on a separate ticket for a domestic JetBlue flight? How much time needed? 2h35m enough? Don't want to be rushed & nervous.

You will arrive in Terminal E, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, walk to Terminal C, re-check your bags with JetBlue and go through security. You have just enough time if the Emirates flight is on-time.
