I purchased flights separately with a 1:40 connection time. I will be arriving from Seattle on Alaska and catching an aer lingus flight to Shannon. I am traveling with carry on only. Will this be enough time to make the connection?

Assuming your first flight is on-time. Yes, it is, if you run to Terminal E.

  • Security Check in Terminal C if connecting flight is in same terminal

We are connecting flight in BOS. Jet Blue arriving in Terminal C, and Emirates departing in same Terminal C. Baggages are checked in through and it is just one ticket. Do we still need to go through security check?

You will just have to walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

  • Delta A Terminal to Virgin Atlantic E Terminal

We are arriving in Terminal A on a Delta Domestic flight. We are connecting on a Virgin Atlantic Flight to London Heathrow in terminal E. Do we have to reclaim our bags or will Delta transfer since they are an airline partner with Virgin Atlantic? What is the best way to get from Terminal A to Terminal E?

If you purchased your tickets together then Delta will check your bag through to London. There is a walkway from Terminal A to Terminal E.

Thank you. You seem to be very familiar with Logan .Is the terminal walkway to TE easy to find from delta arrival gates in TA?

I actually haven't been there in awhile and have never used that walkway, so I can't help you with finding it. The blue line on this map is the walkway. http://boston-bos.worldairportguides.com/terminal-maps.php

Hi Im flying to Boston from London and then on to Nantucket this summer. Arrive into Boston at 12.20pm. Can fly Cape Air to ACK 3.05pm, 3.45pm and 4.35 pm. How much time should I leave to transfer and book bags in at Cape Air please?

I think you would be OK with the 3:45 PM.

  • Enough time to transfer?

I am arriving in Boston from Istanbul at 5:35pm and I need to buy a ticket to Seattle from Boston. There is an Alaska Airlines flight leaving Boston that night at 6:40pm. I am not checking any bags, and am wondering if I have time to make that connection? Seems pretty tight, but I have not traveled through BOS before and am not sure of the layout. Thank you for any assistance!

No, that's not enough time, even without checked bags. The earliest you could be out of customs is like 6 PM, you would still have to go all the way across the airport and get through security.

Thanks so much. Bought a flight the next morning. Have a great weekend!!!

I have 45 minute connection from united to cape air is that enough time?

If you purchased your tickets together and/or don't have checked bags it's BARELY enough time. With checked bags if your bags aren't checked through to your final destination, no chance.

  • Connection and baggage question

I am arriving in Boston at 6:20 pm on a Delta flight and leaving for London on Virgin Atlantic 12 at 10:10 pm. I would like to check one of my carry-on bags on the Virgin Atlantic flight. Will I need to go through security again? Thanks.

You need to check bags for your entire path of travel if you want to check them, unless you purchased two separate tickets. If you did purchase two separate tickets and want to check one of your bags in JFK, you will have to exit security to do so.

Sorry, just realized you are connecting in Boston, not JFK. The same answer about the baggage applies, if you purchased one ticket you must check the bag at the origin, however, you will have to go through security in Boston regardless as you will arrive in Terminal A and depart from Terminal E. They are not connected.

  • Several questions about Terminal E

We have connecting Southwest and Iceland Air flights in BOS on a Friday evening in March. And luckily, it looks like both arrive and leave the same terminal - E. We did not purchase our tickets together. So I imagine we have to pick up our luggage from baggage claim and recheck it? We have a 3 hour layover between flights. Should this be enough time to get our luggage, Iceland Air boarding passes and recheck our bags, make it through security and maybe grab a quick bite to eat?

Yes you have the procedure correct and yes you have enough time.

  • Iceland Air to United connection one hour 40 mins

I have a group of 10 on Iceland Air FI 631 arriving at 5:40 pm at terminal E and the group is booked to leave out of terminal B on United at 7:20 pm. Will the group be okay of the bags are not checked all the way?

It will be very very difficult to make your connection on-time. Especially considering that because you are in a group, you cannot check-in online for your United flight.

Hi, I was wondering what you decided to do with this itinerary, and if the flight has already happened. I am in a similar situation so am curious to hear about your experience. I have 1.5 hours to make a connection from Terminal E (Wow Airlines) to Terminal B (Virgin America). Thanks!

You can walk from E to C fairly easily.

  • Security again from B to C?

Is there any (easy) way to get from terminal B to terminal C WITHOUT having to go through security AGAIN?

No, there is not, no terminals at BOS are connected inside security.

  • Connection time to allow flying different airlines?

Hello, I am flying in from DC to BOS the day after Thanksgiving on Southwest, then have a 3 hr layover, departing on SATA to Azores. 1 carryon bag only. Is that a long enough layover? I assume since going from Domestic to International we have to go through security and customs or immigration too, or is that on arrival in the Azores? Thanks!

All you have to do in Boston is exit security to get your SATA boarding pass, get it, and then go through security. You will go through customs and immigration when you get to the Azores. You do not go through US Immigration when leaving the US. Both flights are in Terminal E.

Thanks! So 3 hrs should be more than enough time? Someone told me people line up for SATA flights like 5 hrs ahead of time which seems crazzzzy. I could see that in S. American, but not Boston....

I should also have asked, coming home then through immigration is 2.5 hrs enough to arrive from azores on sata and transfer to sw back to DC? As you can tell, we don't travel much - it will set my mind at ease to know in advance so thanks very much

Yes, people do line up that early for some of those flights, but for no good reason. Yes, 2.5 hours should be enough on your return trip. If possible check in online for your Southwest flight before you leave the Azores and then you won't have to stop at the Southwest counter and you'll get a better boarding number.

    Thanks, great advice!

I'm arriving to Terminal B. Where do I get the shuttle to Alamo car rental?

On the lower level of Terminal B, take Shuttle Bus #22 or #55 to the Rental Car Center.

  • Arrive Terminal A and Meeting Group at Terminal E--is it possible?
    Nov 10, 2014

I'm flying in to Terminal A, and meeting a group who are flying in international to Terminal E. I have to claim my luggage and meet them in Terminal E. Is that possible? How long will it take?

It's possible. You have to take a shuttle or walk straight across all the parking garages. I would estimate you'd be in Terminal E 30-40 minutes after you arrive in Terminal A.
