Connecting on BA from LAX to EDI, have 1.5 hours, should I check luggage or carry on suitcase. I am traveling on two separate bookings and they won't link them.

I will be arriving by National Express bus at Terminal 5 at 10:37AM on a Tuesday morning. My flight leaves Terminal 4 to the USA at12:30 PM. Will I have enough time to check in, go through customs, and get a boarding pass or should I take the bus that arrives at T5 at 9:07AM?

Personally, I would take the Earlier bus, T4 is pretty isolated.

  • How long to allow for connection to Milan
    Jan 22, 2017

In June, arriving on Virgin Terminal 3 at 6:45 am [assuming nothing changes]. Booking a separate flight on British Air from Terminal 5 to Milan and options are either leaving at 10:45 am OR 12;00 pm. Will only have carry on luggage. Is the 10:45 am "safe" or do we book the 12 pm instead?

I think the 10:45 would be fairly safe.

Hi I arrive T5 from Africa then need to get to T4 and re-checkin for a flight to Doha and only have 2hrs can it be done or should I just have a nights layover?

I think that would be really difficult if it's two separate reservations. I would't try it.

yep I have come to same conclusion! bus is 20mins leaving T5 could take an over an hour plane is way to tight by the looks of things. will just fly next day is not a huge issue. thanks for reply

Hi flying with BA from Leeds to Heathrow and on to Miami ( also BA) ton the same booking, does 1hr 40 give enough time to go from T5 to T3? Will checked bags go automatically through to the 2nd flight? What's the best way to get to T3, is there something I can download?

Yes, your bags will be sent through automatically. There is a shuttle bus between terminals.

Which visa do we need? Coming from South Africa on BA arriving at T3 and connecting 2hrs later again on T3 going to Spain AND on return arriving on T3 but departing on T5 - do we apply for direct airside or visitor in transit visa? Do we pass immigration/passport control? TIA

    What is your citizenship?

One is South African and the other Namibian

I have a flight landing in T4 at 11.05am and have a flight leaving from T5 at 1435. I have to pass through passport control and collect my luggage and get to T5 for my next flight. Will this be enough time? I am holding an EU passport which hopefully will make the passport control faster. many thanks

  • T3 to T5 connection with luggage
    Nov 23, 2016

Arriving into T3, flying out of T5. 2:35 connection time. Separate tickets, Finnair into T3, BA out of T5. One note is both legs are business class, so priority baggage, check-in and security. Is there enough time?

Having to collect your luggage and then checkin again makes this too tight a connection. Even with Business class the bags never seem to arrive priority. You'll really have to move it rechecking but at least you have Fast Track for screening. Good luck.

We are flying in UA from San Francisco into Terminal 2, arriving 7:10am. We've booked separate tickets through BA to CDG departing 8:50am on US passports. No luggage will be checked. I'm assuming we'll need to go through customs and security again. Will we have enough time?

  • Getting from T5 to T5b or T5c
    Aug 26, 2016

Going from LAX to CAI via LHR connecting flight on BA on single reservation. Arriving in T5 but understand that departure gate is no announced or posted till 45 min. before departure. As I understand it T5b is on a different level as T5 in same building. So where is T5c and how does one get to it from T5?

Seems that a BA map I came across is misleading, shows T5b on a different level of T5 but another map and text else where shows all three T5 (T, Tb, Tc) to be separate buildings and are connected by tram or moving walkway.

  • USA to LHR to DUB

Hi. I am planning an anniversary trip for my parents the first week of September. Their flights are booked on a single ticket, and they will be departing Chicago on United Airlines with a scheduled arrival at LHR on 9/6/16 at 8:30 a.m. They will then have a 1 hr. 20 min. layover before they catch their next flight to Dublin at 9:50 a.m. on Aer Lingus. Is that enough time to make the connection? Or will they have to pick up their luggage and re-check it, as well as waiting in line to go through Security and Customs before boarding their connecting flight? Also, do you know which terminal they will arrive in and which terminal they will depart from? Any help, advice or clarification would be appreciated!

Are both tickets on the same reservation or two separate reservations? They will both arrive and depart from Terminal 2.

Yes it is all on the same reservation. Does that mean they will arrive and depart in terminal 2, and all they need to do is walk from one gate to another? Or will it be a tight timeline because they have to go through customs and security and other stuff?

They will arrive, go through Passport control, and go to their departure gate. They should have enough time.
